Conceived by model and actor Derek Chadwick, Goose emerges as an “anti-algorithm” dating and lifestyle service tailored for gay men, as reported by Mashable. Contrasting sharply with swipe-centric apps such as Grindr and Sniffies, Goose prioritizes a social-first approach, focusing on deeper connections rather than casual encounters.
Taking inspiration from exclusive platforms like Raya, Goose offers a selective membership process that involves a curated application system.
“It’s a nudge for men to date in ways that reflect their real lives, without the endless swiping, inspired by someone who experienced it first-hand and envisioned something better,” a representative from Goose explained in a statement.
Instead of traditional matching, users can “wave” at each other to initiate a connection. If both users engage, they are instantly connected, though mutual interaction is not required to communicate.
The app also includes a live map to see nearby users, along with profile features such as photos, videos and status updates.
Goose is not yet available on the App Store or Google Play, but its Instagram account has already attracted more than 22,000 followers.
