Logan Cooke’s impressive 52.0 average on punts in Week 16 was the highest in the AFC, and he matched the NFL’s best for punts landing inside the 20-yard line.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars are making their mark in the record books.

Announced on Wednesday, Jaguars punter Logan Cooke has earned the title of AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, following his outstanding contribution in the 34-20 triumph over the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium.

During Week 16, Cooke’s remarkable 52.0 gross punt average topped the charts in the AFC for players with several punts. Moreover, he was also tied for executing the most punts that pinned opponents within their 20-yard line across the NFL.

Since joining the NFL, Cooke has been a standout, leading the league in net punting average at 43.4 and in punts placed inside the 10-yard line with 93. His 216 punts within the 20-yard line position him third overall.

This is the second time this season and 31st time that a player on the Jaguars has won the award, and the first time in Cooke’s eight-year career that he has been named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Paired with QB Trever Lawrence being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week against the New York Jets, this is the ninth time in franchise history that players have won back-to-back player of the week awards.

Earlier in December, Cooke was named the Jaguars nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
