Jennifer Lawrence managed to leave Jimmy Fallon visibly uncomfortable as she unexpectedly teared up multiple times during her appearance on The Tonight Show. The actress, known for her candidness, appeared on Thursday’s episode and quickly became emotional.

As their conversation unfolded, the 35-year-old Oscar winner confessed to feeling ‘nervous,’ mentioning her recent New Yorker profile. In that piece, she reflected on her earlier years in the limelight, admitting she often worried about coming across as ‘annoying’ during interviews.

Despite her attempts to hold back tears, the star of The Hunger Games found herself overwhelmed. At one point, she vowed, albeit emotionally, that she ‘wasn’t gonna say a f***ing word’ during their segment.

Fallon, ever the amiable host, tried to coax her into participating, responding with, ‘No, you have to say something!’ His light-hearted insistence was an effort to ease the tension and keep the conversation flowing.

To which the host replied, ‘No, you have to say something!’

But Lawrence was then lost for words, as she burst into loud, dramatic wails during her wide-ranging conversation with the visibly flustered host.

Her first cry came as she recounted a lengthy story about how she became attached to her new movie, Die My Love, which follows a young mother who descends into madness after moving to the countryside with her husband.

Lawrence explained: ‘[Director] Lynne Ramsay is someone I’ve always wanted to work with. So basically, she cracked it and she’s a genius and… I can’t believe I’m still talking!’

The actress then began to weep loudly in her seat, apparently overwhelmed by the prospect of speaking on the talk show.

Fallon then exclaimed: ‘No, stop crying! Stop crying! No, this is fun! You’re having fun on a talk show! Stop crying. Just trust me, this is fun.’

In response, Lawrence stopped sobbing and told him, ‘OK,’ as she began laughing.

But she became tearful again as she began sobbing after sharing a story about a comment that had been lost in translation on the film’s Canadian set.

She said: ‘In Canada, they call the trailer “your room.” We call trailers “trailers,” because they’re trailers, and we call our room, like, the hotel room that we’re living in for months.’

She went on to explain that her producing partner ‘got a text from our line producer that was like, “These three background kids have nowhere to stay. Can they use your room?”‘

The request left her thinking she would suddenly be sharing a room with three children.

Lawrence recalled: ‘She’s like, “Well, geez, I don’t know. All my stuff’s in there.” And the line producer’s getting more and more flabbergasted. He’s like, “I’ll help you move your stuff!”‘

The actress added that the producer got so frustrated that he eventually just said he’d ask Ramsay if they could stay in her trailer.

She concluded: ‘This whole back-and-forth where he thinks we’re crazy, we obviously think he’s crazy, and then it was just a misunderstanding.’

The star then promptly burst into another wave of mock tears.

But Fallon’s response was different this time.

He said: ‘Oh my gosh. Unbelievable. You’re unbelievable.’

The interview comes after Lawrence revealed why she declined to use an intimacy coordinator while filming her new psychological drama Die My Love with Robert Pattinson.

While appearing on the Las Culturistas podcast, the Oscar winner, 35, opened up about feeling completely comfortable shooting explicit scenes with her co-star, 39.

‘We did not have [an intimacy coordinator], or maybe we did but we didn’t really,’ Lawrence explained. ‘I felt really safe with Rob. He is not pervy and very in love with [his partner] Suki Waterhouse.’

The actress said the pair shared an easy trust on set, adding that they spent most of their time ‘talking about our kids and relationships.’

‘There was never any weird like, “Does he think I like him?”‘ she said. ‘If there was a little bit of that, I would probably have an intimacy coordinator. A lot of male actors get offended if you don’t want to f*** them, and then the punishment starts. He was not like that.’

Lawrence’s bold performance in Die My Love has already drawn widespread acclaim and early Oscar buzz, with critics praising her fearless portrayal of a woman unraveling under the weight of motherhood.

Elsewhere, Lawrence revealed she suffered from postpartum depression after having her son in April this year.

Speaking to host Vogue Williams on ITV’s Lorraine, she explained: ‘I was totally surprised, when I had my second I actually suffered really bad postpartum depression.’

The actress also shared that she was five months pregnant while filming, which Williams appeared incredibly moved by.
