In a startling development in Beach Park, Illinois, two individuals have been apprehended in connection to a suspected murder-for-hire scheme, as revealed by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident unfolded early Wednesday morning when a man, while warming up his vehicle outside his residence on the 38400-block of North Sheridan Road, was shot. This alarming event set off a rapid police response and a subsequent investigation.

Following the shooting, the victim was urgently transported by a family member to Vista East Medical Center. Given the severity of his condition, he was then airlifted to a level one trauma center, where he currently remains in a critically precarious state.

Sheriff’s detectives, in their pursuit of justice, meticulously analyzed neighborhood surveillance footage and identified a vehicle they believe is connected to the shooting.

The investigation led authorities to track down the vehicle’s owner, 28-year-old Cristian N. Ruval-Cavatorres, in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. In a coordinated effort, local police executed a traffic stop, resulting in Ruval-Cavatorres’ arrest later that day.

Lake County sheriff’s detectives say they discovered evidence indicating that someone hired Ruval-Cavatorres to shoot and kill the victim. Detectives executed a search warrant and found the gun they believe was used in the shooting and a phone Ruval-Cavatorres allegedly used to talk with the person who hired him.

Ruval-Cavatorres has been charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. He is being held in the Racine County Jail, pending extradition to Lake County.

Sheriff’s detectives found the person who allegedly hired Ruval-Cavatorres in North Chicago on Thursday.

Authorities detained that person, a male of an unknown age, in the 1600-block of Park Avenue around 1:30 p.m. He remains in custody, and charges are pending, the sheriff’s office said.
