Jeremy Renner recently admitted that he’s ‘kind of excited’ about death just a little over a year after the actor was nearly killed in a snowplow accident.

Renner, 53, joined James Corden on his SirusXM podcast ‘This Life of Mine with James Corden’ on Thursday and opened up about the accident that almost took his life on January 1, 2023.

‘I was never afraid, mind you, of death prior. Now, I’m really not afraid of it. Now, I’m double downing,’ Renner told Corden.

‘Yes, certainly not afraid of it. Now, I’m kind of excited for it. To be honest it’s what life really is.’

‘This rock that we’re spinning on, and this body and this language that we’re speaking, and all these feelings and emotions and conflict is all horse s***. It’s meaningless in the scheme of things,’ Renner said.

On the day of the incident Renner was plowing snow around his neighborhood in Mount Rose, Nevada when he stopped to help a family member whose car was stuck.

His 14,000lb industrial vehicle then ran him over as footage showed the moments after he was left critically injured with 35 broken bones, a collapsed lung and a punctured liver.

The harrowing video captured by police body cam showed the Mayor Of Kingstown actor on the ground surrounded by a team of medics that raced over to save his life.

The surreal scene played out as rescuers desperately worked to save Renner who was seen lying next to a huge pool of blood.

The footage revealed the tense moments of the rescue operations as first responders worked swiftly to stabilize Renner who managed to survive the near-death accident.

Once he was stabilized, Renner was then airlifted and taken to a nearby hospital as his nephew, who Renner was trying to help, recounted what took place just before.

‘That’s when it was coming at me full force. He tried to jump on it… and it took him under. Right where the blood is at is right where it happened,’ Alexander Fries said.

As the plow started to roll toward him, Renner then attempted to climb back into the cab and stop it from hitting his nephew, but was unable to prevent the accident after slipping under the metal tread of the snowplow.

‘It was horrible. I thought he was going to die, man. I’m holding him and his color is just going,’ Fries said.

As he sat in critical condition in the hospital, Renner revealed that he wrote a goodbye note to his family on phone, and wondered to himself: ‘What’s my body look like? Am I just going to be like a spine and a brain like a science experiment?’

Doctors went on to rebuild his rib cage with metal and also used metallic plates to reconstruct his eye socket. He now has a titanium rod and screws in his leg.

‘I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience,’ he said in an interview with ABC News last April. ‘But I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.’

During his recent interview with Corden, the Avengers actor said that his ‘recovery was a one-way road.’

‘I wasn’t going to come back from death, which I thought was glorious by the way,’ Renner said.

He went on to speak about death and said that it is a ‘glorious’ and ‘energetic’ thing that has ‘no time, place, space or color, or anything.’ Renner went on to add that it is ‘just a known peace- beautiful, exhilarating peace.’

On the one year anniversary of the incident, Renner took to his Instagram story and shared the milestone with his 21.2 million followers.

He uploaded a photo of himself from the day he arrived home from the hospital after the snow plow accident and said: ‘My friend reminded me I got home from ICU a year ago.’

He was dressed in a light gray T-shirt and darker gray shorts as he stood in what appeared to be a physical therapy facility.

Renner added underneath the photo that he is a ‘lucky man…’

He then shared that same photo on his Instagram page along with a heartfelt note.

‘I was reminded that love, good will, hard work and a legion of good humans are getting me through every day … thank you, bless you …. And as always, I hold my promise to be better, be stronger, and grow to surpass potential…. Bless you all,’ he wrote.

Prior to that, Renner admitted that he was ‘nervous’ to return to acting.

He took to Instagram to confirm he was back to working on his Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown and noted that he was also excited to be back on set.

‘Day one on set,’ he wrote in a caption alongside a selfie, adding, ‘Nervous today.’

He also said that he was doing it all for his fans.

‘Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans,’ he continued.

On the same day, he also shared a joint post with the official Instagram account of his thriller series announcing that production began.

The photo showed him posing in a suit alongside text that read: ‘THE MAYOR IS BACK.’
