In the wake of the ongoing federal government shutdown, millions of Americans are facing interruptions in their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, which are essential for purchasing food. In response to this pressing issue of food insecurity, ABC7 Chicago is launching its annual Feed the Love campaign to provide much-needed assistance.

To contribute or get involved, you can visit the Greater Chicago Food Depository at chicagosfoodbank.org, the Northern Illinois Food Bank at SolveHungerToday.org, or the Northwest Indiana Food Bank at https://foodbanknwi.org.

Your generosity can help ensure that families have the meals they need during the holiday season and beyond, making a meaningful difference in their lives.

With inflation and rising living costs, many families are struggling to afford basic necessities, including food. It’s crucial to continue combating hunger by supporting initiatives that provide consistent, nutritious meals to those in need.

“As the holiday season approaches and living expenses remain high, the demand for food assistance in Cook County is still significant. We at the Greater Chicago Food Depository are incredibly thankful for the ongoing support from ABC7’s Feed the Love initiative. Together, we can eliminate hunger and help create a truly Greater Chicago,” expressed Kate Maehr, the executive director and CEO of the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

As part of the “Feed the Love” campaign, ABC7 will highlight those working hard to fight hunger in the community.
