The recent report from the Harrison County sheriff’s office confirms the suspicion that the former LSU standout wide receiver, Kyren Lacy, took his own life. This tragic news was officially disclosed on Sunday.

Lacy was found dead Saturday night in Houston at just 24 years old.

He was in his car being pursued by authorities before he crashed, the police department’s report said, ending the pursuit. When authorities approached Lacy’s vehicle, they determined he had died in an apparent suicide.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Lacy’s father, Kenny, adjured parents to stay in touch with their children regarding their mental health.

“Young parents, start talking to your kids at a very early age and make sure they are confident and comfortable confiding in you,” Lacy’s father wrote. “Don’t be cool with ‘I’m Alright, or I’m good’ when you know deep down something isn’t right. Mental Health is real, and for the most part, it’s invisible, don’t ignore the signs, even if they may seem small.”

Lacy spent two years at Louisiana before finishing his college football career at LSU.

He had declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, which takes place in less than two weeks.

“Our lives have changed forever and this will never be ok, but God needed my baby more than he was needed here” Kenny Lacy, Kyren’s father, continued in his post. “This has to be the biggest pill our families have had to swallow but I know the love and compassion in our families will get us through. This will never get easier, but we’ll learn to live with it.

“Check on your kids mental,” he concluded, with numerous exclamation points.

In December, Lacy was arrested for his alleged involvement in a car crash that killed a 78-year-old man.

He was scheduled to appear in front of a jury Monday.
