ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A man accused of stealing from several local religious organizations while driving a stolen vehicle was arrested on Saturday by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Cross Creek Church on Greenbriar Road after a security alarm call.
Eaz Hyght, 48, was seen trying to flee the area in a vehicle but was stopped after deputies performed a PIT maneuver on the suspect’s vehicle.
After searching the vehicle Hyght was driving, deputies found multiple items believed to be stolen from several other religious organizations.
Deputies also discovered the vehicle was not registered in Hyght’s name.
SJCSO said detectives are processing the stolen items, and it is unclear how many establishments were affected by the alleged thefts.
Hyght was arrested by deputies and faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, possession of burglary tools, fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, criminal mischief and resisting an officer without violence.
Hyght is being held on no bond.
