Man changes name to 'Literally Anybody Else' in presidential bid

() It’s virtually certain that President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump will win four more years in the White House in November. But would you rather vote for literally anybody else?

A Texas high school teacher says he’s your candidate. His legal name is “Literally Anybody Else.”

“We’re dealing with situation where (we have) the rematch of the two most-disliked candidates in a very long time,” says the man formerly known as Dustin Ebey.

Else says this is not so much a lesson for his students, but a message to the rest of us.

“This, to me, is a message that needed to be sent. The point of having … this name running for president, it kind of gives voice, it gives a direction for anybody who resonates with that sentiment.”

Else says he’s received several hundred messages encouraging his run, the logistics of which will not be easy. It takes more than 113,000 petition signatures to get on the Texas ballot as an independent, so he’s asking voters to write in his name.

Asked on ’s “On Balance” to share any policies he supports, he demurred, saying only, “I feel like policies should be reflective of the people who are being represented, and not necessarily say, you know, my policies.”

Recent polls appear to support Else’s position. A January survey by Decision Desk HQ/ found about 59 percent of registered voters “not too enthusiastic” or “not at all enthusiastic” about a rematch between Biden and Trump.

A December AP-NORC Research Center poll shows 56%, regardless of party, say they would be “very or “somewhat” dissatisfied with Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee, and about 58 percent said the same about Trump being the potential GOP nominee.
