Man hospitalized after being shot multiple times on Jacksonville's Westside

A man was hospitalized and required surgery after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in an early morning incident on Jacksonville’s Westside, authorities reported.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office stated that the shooting occurred along Columbus Avenue, with officers responding to the scene around 2:50 a.m. upon receiving reports of gunfire.

Sgt. Mitlyng from JSO indicated that when law enforcement arrived, they discovered the victim, a man in his 30s, suffering from several gunshot injuries.

The injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently being treated for injuries deemed non-life-threatening, according to Mitlyng.

Despite efforts to gather information, detectives were unable to locate any witnesses, and as of now, no suspect description is available, Mitlyng added.
