New aerial photographs reveal the devastating aftermath of Sunday’s Learjet crash in Florida, showing a massive crater in the highway surrounded by scattered debris.
The images show the aircraft plunging nose-first into the ground at the edge of a six-lane road near a mobile home park in Palm Beach County. All nine people aboard were killed.
The $2 million Learjet 60 struck the roadway with such force that it carved out a deep crater, apparently rupturing a water main beneath the surface and leaving the crater filled with water.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash.
The co-pilot was identified as 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, a Palm Beach County native whose frightened voice is heard in the haunting final cockpit recording.
