In a concerning development this week, General Mills has initiated a recall of approximately 736,000 Pillsbury bread rolls, prompted by fears they might contain glass fragments. This cautionary measure was announced via a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall specifically targets 3,080 cases of “Hard Roll Dough,” with each case containing 180 rolls, leading to a sum of 554,400 rolls. Additionally, the recall covers 1,260 cases of “Kaiser Roll Dough,” each case holding 144 rolls, totaling 181,440 rolls. The alert highlights the potential presence of “foreign material (glass)” in these products.
General Mills distributed these potentially compromised frozen bread rolls to numerous states including Arkansas, California, Florida, and Georgia, among others. The reach spans from coast to coast, affecting both northern and southern regions.
Notably, the rolls are primarily intended for commercial use rather than personal consumption, as detailed on General Mills’ website.
The Pillsbury Kaiser roll product description emphasizes “Thaw, proof and bake” as an easy solution for efficient back-of-house preparation, allowing businesses to minimize labor efforts.
The food manufacturer initiated the recall on June 19.
In addition to Pillsbury, General Mills owns popular brands such as Betty Crocker, Cheerios, Lucky Charms and Nature Valley.
