The planned Olympic sendoff event at UBS Arena has been called off.
Originally designed as a Super Bowl Media Day-style gathering to spotlight the Olympic hockey tournament, this event at UBS Arena was supposed to replace the All-Star Game. However, an Islanders representative confirmed to The Post that it will no longer take place.
The news was initially reported by ESPN’s Emily Kaplan.
Despite this cancellation, the Islanders are still on track to host the 2027 All-Star Game and skills competition. However, its significance might be overshadowed as it falls between the NHL’s Olympic return and the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.
