Nick Viall’s wife, Natalie Joy, revealed she suffered a second miscarriage within a span of a few months of her first.
“This past week, I miscarried again,” the surgical technologist announced via her Instagram Story on Sunday.
After experiencing the loss of their second child earlier this year, she discovered she was pregnant once more, unexpectedly and swiftly.
Joy said it “took some time for me to accept what had happened only to be handed another chance so easily and so fast.”
“But eventually I found so much happiness. We were finally in a place of complete utter gratitude,” she wrote.
Joy, 26, explained she underwent a dilation and curettage, which removes tissue from the uterus after a miscarriage, according to the Mayo Clinic.
She mentioned, “It will be a process to regain my sense of self, and truthfully, I may never fully achieve that. However, I aim to include all of you in whatever form that may take.”
She concluded, “Returning to embracing my husband and our precious daughter, River Rose, who have been my pillars of strength throughout these challenging times.” Joy was referring to their 1-year-old daughter, River.
The influencer’s heartbreaking announcement comes after she shared she was “actively miscarrying” during an episode of the “Viall Files” podcast in January.
During the emotional segment, Joy referred to the incident as the “biggest heartbreak” she’s experienced, explaining she’s “never felt so empty” and was “dead inside” while taking care of her toddler.
“It sucks because I have to be so alive for River,” she said. “I have to be silly and goofy and funny and play with her.
“Then, I have this overwhelming guilt that when I’m with [my husband], I can’t also do that. I’m sad that the only version [he gets] right now is this broken person.”
Joy recalled the moment she knew she was miscarrying but “didn’t want to accept” the truth.
She and Viall, 44, were “able to retrieve the baby and everything that came with it” and “bury [their] baby in a place [they] can always connect with.”
Joy and the “Bachelor” alum, who wed in April 2024, became parents to River in February 2024.
