In the early hours of Sunday, a shooting incident near Indiana University’s Bloomington campus left nine individuals injured.
The shooting occurred just after midnight on Kirkwood Avenue, a popular gathering spot, as people celebrated the renowned “Little 500” college cycling event, according to WTHR.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene on the 400 block of East Kirkwood, just a short distance from the university, where they discovered several injured people.

By 3 a.m., nine individuals had been transported to nearby hospitals, with six of them taken by ambulance, as reported by the news outlet.
Authorities have yet to disclose the specifics regarding the severity or nature of the injuries sustained.
Witnesses recalled watching a fight break out amongst two women before the shooting occured.
“Two women fighting… I didn’t think too much of it,” a witness told the outlet.
“I figured the police would get to it. But then I saw a girl reach toward her pants leg and start firing. By then, I was already running the other way.”
Sunday’s shooting comes exactly a week after another mass shooting near the University of Iowa, another Midwest Big10 school.
Five people were wounded included three Iowa students in last weeks shooting.
