NYPD hunts for suspect who slashed straphanger in NYC subway station

A young commuter, 24, was suddenly attacked by an aggressive individual at a Manhattan subway station during the early hours of Monday as reported by police and sources.

At around 12:20 a.m., the victim was in the process of purchasing a MetroCard on the mezzanine floor of the 47-50 Street-Rockefeller Center station in Midtown when an unknown man approached him from behind. The attacker proceeded to inflict a slash wound on the right side of the victim’s face using a sharp object, according to authorities.

The suspect then fled the station on foot. Law enforcement sources said it was an unprovoked attack.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, but suffered a “severe laceration” to his face, police said.

No arrest has been made. The NYPD released footage and an image of the suspect they’re hunting for Monday evening.

The perp was last seen wearing a white hoodie and brown pants.
