The Lake City Police Department is currently on the lookout for an armed robbery suspect and has urged the public not to engage with him. The suspect, identified as Aljowan Jones, remains at large following an incident at a local store.
According to a statement released shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the police department reported that Jones has not yet been apprehended. The alert comes after a robbery took place on December 2nd at a Dollar General store on NE Bascom Norris Drive around 6:30 p.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found that the suspect had already fled and confirmed that no one was injured during the incident. Investigations revealed that Jones allegedly took an item from the store without paying and left. When an employee pursued him and his companion outside, Jones reportedly brandished a handgun and issued threats to the employee and others present.
The authorities emphasize that Jones is considered armed and dangerous. They strongly advise the public not to approach him under any circumstances.
Police say that while Jones has yet to be located, he is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
“I am thankful that no one was physically harmed during this incident,” said Chief of Police Gerald Butler. “Anytime a firearm is used to threaten our citizens, we take it extremely seriously. We will continue to work with our community partners and the State Attorney’s Office to ensure that those who bring guns into our businesses to commit crimes are held accountable.”
