Joe Doering, a well-known figure in the world of professional wrestling who made his mark in both All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), has passed away, the organizations confirmed on Friday. He was 44 years old.
Both AJPW and TNA issued heartfelt statements regarding Doering’s passing.
“Joe Doering, who had been courageously fighting a brain tumor, has died at the age of 44,” announced All Japan Pro Wrestling. The statement continued, “Upon hearing of Joe Doering’s passing, all players and staff at All Japan Pro Wrestling extend their condolences and sincerely hope for his eternal peace.”
In a tribute to the late wrestler, TNA stated, “We are deeply saddened by the news of Joe Doering’s passing. He was a powerful presence in the ring and a remarkable individual. His legacy will live on, and we extend our deepest sympathies to his fans, friends, and family.”
The impact of Doering’s loss was felt across the pro wrestling community, with many taking to social media to express their grief and honor his memory.
Doering was battling brain cancer which he had been battling for a while.
He entered hospice care earlier in the week.
Doering started his pro wrestling journey in 2004 when he made his debut for Border City Wrestling.
He moved through promotions, making appearances in AJPW in 2007 and TNA in 2005.
He also had a stint in WWE’s developmental program, Florida Championship Wrestling, in 2010.
He never debuted on the WWE’s main roster.
In AJPW, he was a four-time world tag team champion and a two-time triple crown heavyweight champion. He won the TNA World Tag Team Championship twice in TNA.
