More than 77,000 HotHands rechargeable hand warmers sold in stores and online across the country have been recalled over concerns that they could catch fire or cause burn injuries.
WASHINGTON — Consumers who purchased a HotHands rechargeable hand warmer are being advised to check their device after Kobayashi recalled more than 77,000 units because of a potential fire and serious burn hazard.
In the Oct. 1 recall announcement, the manufacturer said the products’ lithium-ion batteries and electrical components may overheat and potentially ignite.
No fires, injuries or other incidents had been reported when the recall was announced. Even so, owners should stop using the affected hand warmers immediately.
Kobayashi said approximately 77,000 recalled units were sold in the United States, while more than 70 were distributed in Canada.
The rechargeable warmers were sold from July 2025 through August 2026 at retailers including Bass Pro Shops, Meijer, Target and The Home Depot, along with various online sellers. They typically cost between $30 and $40.
