The recent rodent issue plaguing Angel Stadium has been resolved, allowing a previously closed concession stand to reopen just in time for the Angels’ crucial series against the Mets. This comes after a thorough inspection and cleaning process.
According to a reinspection report obtained by The California Post, Orange County Public Health Services officials noted on Wednesday that no signs of vermin activity were detected. The report confirmed the facilities had been extensively “cleaned and sanitized.”
Inspectors also reported that all identified gaps had been successfully sealed, and they received documentation from the concession stand’s managers confirming pest control measures were in place.
With these actions, the area known as View Level 432 has been declared safe and ready to welcome fans once more. However, to ensure the problem remains under control, county officials plan to return on May 6 for a follow-up visit to “verify continued rodent abatement,” according to the report.
The concession stand was originally shut down on April 22, following a routine inspection that uncovered “rodent droppings” in five separate areas, including on the floor beneath storage racks and near cleaning supplies.
Additionally, inspectors alleged they found “a hole greater than 1/4 inch on the ceiling” that they determined vermin could access.
The Angels said in a statement to The Post on April 27 they were taking the issue seriously and were working tirelessly to get the situation under control in time for Friday’s home matchup with New York.
“After receiving guidance from the health department,” the team said, “we acted promptly with our concession partner to resolve the issue at the single stand and expect it to pass inspection and reopen in time for the upcoming homestand.”
The Angels kick off their three-game series with the Mets at 6:38 p.m. PT.
