A unique rotating mansion in California has spun onto the market for $5.3 million.
The spaceship-like property, set on the sloping hills of Mount Helix in La Mesa, San Diego, offers incredible views that can be enjoyed from all angles thanks to 55 panoramic windows and, of course, its spinning mechanism.
Built in 2004 by former house-builder and engineer Al Johnstone, the 200 ton structure is mounted on a steel track decked out with 16-inch wheels.
A 1.5 horsepower motor then allows it to turn 360 degrees in just 33 minutes.

Johnstone, who spent $700,000 on the build, previously told Dawn.com: ‘Nobody’s going to get dizzy.
‘The fastest it can move is one-tenth of a mile per hour.’
He said the trickiest part of the construction process was working out ‘how to stay attached to the utilities while turning the house infinitely in either direction. Gas, electricity, water, sewage.’
After giving it some thought he designed a central, non-turning stainless steel core to house all of these components.
During the build, Johnstone also decked the home out with smart home features which have been updated, to make life as easy as possible.
There are automated systems for the climate control and lighting, and there is an iris-scanning lock on the front door so no keys are needed.
In terms of living spaces, the property serves up a gourmet kitchen, a comfortable living room with a fireplace, a dining area, three-and-a-half bathrooms and four well-appointed bedrooms.
The bed in the master bedroom can also rotate.

There are four well-appointed bedrooms and the bed in the master bedroom can also rotate. Johnstone said he installed this feature ‘if, say, we don’t want the daylight blaring in our eyes next morning’

Moving outdoors, there is a circular deck to enjoy the views, along with a large terrace space and terraced gardens.
Golf enthusiasts will also be in their element, as there is a small putting green.
