Authorities have reported that several children were injured in a shooting incident that occurred over the weekend near a public pool in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
The Stuttgart Police Department stated that officers responded to reports of gunfire at the John Cain Aquatic Center just before 5 p.m. local time on Saturday.
According to police reports, three children were shot and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. Although one child was struck in the chest, details regarding the injuries of the other two children were not disclosed.
Police, with the assistance of the Arkansas County Sheriff’s Office, quickly apprehended a suspect within minutes of the incident, as noted in a social media update.

“At this time, no names will be released, as all parties involved are juveniles,” the department noted.
In a statement on Facebook, the John Cain Aquatic Center said the aquatic center will be closed “until further notice.”

Police said the investigation remains active, and officers are continuing to gather information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Stuttgart police said the shooting left the department “deeply saddened.”Â
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and every person affected by this tragic incident,” the police statement said. “We remain committed to thoroughly investigating this case and ensuring accountability for those responsible.”

The Stuttgart Police Department, Arkansas County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police and Stuttgart Parks Department did not immediately respond to News Media’s requests for comment.
Stuttgart is a small town in eastern Arkansas, about an hour southeast of Little Rock.
