St. Augustine Police said it has identified the group of adults but has not made any arrests.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — St. Augustine Police said it has identified young adults in a video who are seen attacking a city employee.

Police say no arrests have been made.

The attack happened shortly after midnight on March 3 while the employee was working near Cordova Street.

“It’s a very safe area,” Robin Johnson said.

Johnson is the manager at the Casa de Suenos Inn.

“It’s [called] House of Dreams,” Johnson said.

Down the street from the house of dreams was the nightmare where the employee was attacked.

“I’ve worked in this area about 27 years total. It’s such a quiet area this was very surprising,” Johnson said.

Matthew Copeland also works in the city.

“I do ghost tours here in St. Augustine,” Copeland said.

Part of Copeland’s tour is Cordova Street, he too saw the video.

“When you see something like that, it’s shocking, it’s infuriating. Because you don’t expect that to be St. Augustine,” Copeland said.

Copeland said he’s had some issues with young people while giving tours and would like to see more of a police presence.

“It’s not that I feel unsafe, or I feel that my group is unsafe. But there are just people who will come out here and cause problems for the sake of causing problems,” Copeland said.

Both Copeland and Johnson were shocked to see what happened, but believe the city is still safe.

“[I] just think that it was one of them isolated incidents,” Johnson said.

First Coast News requested the incident report from the St. Augustine Police Department and was told it would be provided once the investigation is complete.
