Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View, is facing backlash online after repeatedly asserting on television that “no one is above the law.”
A Saturday post from far-right X account End Wokeness flaunted a clip of the former federal prosecutor making the claim while speaking about Donald Trump in 2023.
Controversy arose when police bodycam footage emerged. It captured Hostin invoking her credentials as a TV personality and former federal prosecutor while trying to prevent her son, Gabriel, from receiving a trespassing ticket last month, as reported by The New York Post.
Hostin has reiterated her stance on multiple occasions, notably in June 2023 during a discussion on Donald Trump’s efforts to dismiss a hush money lawsuit, and again in June 2024 while addressing Hunter Biden’s plea deal.
Declaring her position at that time, Hostin emphasized, “Hunter Biden being on trial shows that no one is above the law,” and confidently predicted that then-President Joe Biden would not issue a pardon.
However, in a turn of events, Hunter Biden later received pardons for felony gun and tax convictions in Delaware and California.
Hostin made a similar assertion in January. ‘I’ve said this before: I really do believe that the reason President Trump ran for the office of presidency again is because he wanted to avoid going to jail,’ she told her cohosts.
‘This is perfect,’ wrote conservative commentator Clay Travis of the reputed double standard.

‘”The View” co-host Sunny Hostin, who lectures everyone about equal justice, just demonstrated how liberal privilege works,’ another person raged.
‘A college degree, a clean record, or a famous parent doesn’t place anyone above the law,’ a fourth person complained. ‘Equal justice shouldn’t depend on who your parents are.’
Hostin rushed to her son’s aid after he was cuffed for wandering through an open gate onto active railroad tracks, the footage released over the weekend shows.
Hostin told officers over the phone before arriving at the scene herself, ‘My name is Sunny Hostin and I’m one of the co-hosts of The View,’ according to the Post.
She is also heard citing her status as a ‘former federal prosecutor.’
Court records showed Hostin, 57, penned a letter to the local DA shortly thereafter to ask for the case to be dismissed.
She cited her son’s Ivy League background, past community service, lack of a criminal history, and her own past as a federal prosecutor once again.

The incident in question did not involve an arrest. Gabriel was cited for trespassing and is due in court on July 31.
He avoided a more typical misdemeanor charge, cops told him while handing out the citation.
‘You can’t commit so many crimes and think that you are above the law, even if you are the president,’ Hostin said in 2023.
