Tesla has reportedly halted all Cybertruck deliveries due to a potentially fatal flaw that causes the accelerator pedal to become stuck.
Several customers reported receiving notifications from Tesla and car dealerships informing them that their delivery appointment had been canceled, and some were told that shipments would not begin until after April 20.
Dan Ives, managing director at New York’s Wedbush Securities, told DailyMail.com ‘We are not confident this will be resolved the next few weeks.’
The recall was prompted by a video shared by a new Tesla owner who pointed out a design flaw. The owner claimed that the pedal cover had shifted forward, causing the accelerator to get stuck under the interior, firmly held down at 100 percent.
It is more misery for Tesla as 1,400 employees were laid off, many of whom work at the Texas Gigafactory where the Cybertruck is produced.
Ives also told DailyMail.com that it appears all Cybertruck deliveries have been paused.
It remains uncertain whether the recall was initiated in response to the video showing the cover sliding off the pedal, or if it was linked to a separate brake issue that had emerged earlier in the month.
A California Cybertruck owner claimed the EV’s brakes malfunctioned just weeks after purchase, sending the vehicle crashing into the pole of a road sign.
Images of the incident showed the shiny steel front end smashed, the side panel hanging off and the hood bent on the side of the impact.
The driver said they attempted to slow the Cybertruck by pressing the brakes, only to find they did not engage – and noted the air bags also did not deploy when the EV collided with the pole.
While Tesla has not made an official announcement, many of its fan accounts on X have spread the news.
Whole Mars Catalog, which seems to have a relationship with Elon Musk, posted: ‘Tesla has stopped all Cybertruck deliveries for seven days due to an issue with the accelerator pedal.’
Sawyer Merrit, a Tesla investor, also shared the same update.
DailyMail.com has contacted Tesla for comment.
Many customers awaiting their Cybertruck delivery have claimed that Tesla r dealers have notified them that their EV would be delayed.
Darick Hemphill Missouri shared on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum that he was set to puck his up this past weekend.
‘Just got a call that there was a recall on the truck,’ the post reads.
‘Came in about 15 minutes ago per the person who called me.
‘They stated that there was a problem with the accelerator and that they would know on Monday how soon parts would arrive to fix it. If this is a practical joke from a friend of mine…. It is perfect.
‘I was so excited to finally get my Cybertruck. Now just broken-hearted.’
Other users of the platform checked the accelerator pedal of their vehicles – some found no issues, while others were able to pull the cover off instantly.
‘I popped mine off without trouble. Only held on there by two plastic clips. For now, I’ll just drive without the cover,’ one California user shared.
‘If yours is secure like some are reporting, I wouldn’t worry about it at all.
‘Just be aware and also keep in mind that you can press the brake pedal to override the accelerator.’
Another customer said they received a call from Tesla Paramus and the representative told them the unexpected Cybertruck delay was due to a ‘brake concern.’
While the latest issue may stem issues with braking and the accelerator, other Cybertruck owners have found issues under the hood with the steering system.
A handful of videos have been shared online showing customers driving their new Cybertruck off the lot just to have it break down in a few minutes.

While Tesla has not acknowledged the issue or provided details to what could be causing it, others believe the flaw is with the steer-by-wire system.
The new technology eliminates the physical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels of a car by using electrically controlled motors to change the direction of the wheels and to provide feedback to the driver.
The downsides of a steer-by-wire system are maintenance and cost – and if the connection is not perfect, drivers will experience what happened to Remo.
