What it means for relationships

Venus, which symbolizes our prosperity, values, beauty, and relationships, has recently started moving forward again after a significant 40-day retrograde period. However, we are still in the process of examining and improving our relationship dynamics.

Neigh, folks, the deep dive has only just begun as the asteroid Juno retrogrades into the psychic, bone-handled shovel of Scorpio this week.

Juno, named after the patient wife of Jupiter who was known for his unfaithfulness (the Roman version of Zeus), represents love, marriage, commitments, and partnerships in both personal and professional settings.

When considering the placement of the asteroid Juno in an individual’s natal chart, it can provide insights into how our connections trigger our vulnerabilities and emotional wounds, as well as how we handle feelings of betrayal.

At her highest expression, Juno illustrates how we can be autonomous and interdependent, thriving in partnership without forfeiting our selfhood.

At her lowest vibration, Juno falls prey to jealousy, power struggles, emotional manipulation and self-abandonment in the name of “love.”

Juno retrograde

Beginning April 14 and extending through July 10, Juno will retrograde in Scorpio, the sign of sex, secrets, shadows, transformative trauma and other people’s resources.

After Juno stations direct on July 10, the asteroid will remain in Scorpio until Oct. 1, lending us a good, long lesson in trust, depth and devotion.

Just as planetary retrogrades encourage us to tune in and go deep — focusing on reflecting, resetting, revisiting, reexamining, reimagining, reconnecting, resurrecting, etc. — the same approach applies to asteroids.

As Cody Springer of Coding Astrology explains, “Juno retrograde in Scorpio invites us to turn inward and reflect on our patterns of intimacy, trust, loyalty and emotional vulnerability.”

Difference between Venus and Juno

Springer notes that because Venus is between the sun and the Earth, her transits are more obviously felt. Comparatively, Juno’s orbit lies a bit further afield, between Mars and Jupiter, and her influence is gentler, albeit no less profound.

Because this retrograde is going down, or back, in the never-casual, death-ruled sign of Scorpio, it encourages and supports internal work, shadow work and emotional maturation.

“Juno is more subtle than Venus; we’re going into our subconscious and facing our paranoid fears of betrayal, loss, power dynamics, loyalty, trust, devotion, all of that,” Springer explains.

Juno’s retrograde will continue to build upon many of the themes that may have come up for us during this spring’s Venus retrograde through Aries and Pisces. Consider Juno retrograde the refinement we need after the rough and irrefutable instruction of Venus retrograde.

Juno retrograde 2025

“This retrograde cycle is going to offer us the opportunity to recalibrate our expectations when it comes to love, especially where emotional intimacy, sexual intimacy, jealousy and control may have been overshadowing our genuine connections,” said Springer.

Keep in mind that the goddess Juno is often seen with and/or symbolized by a peacock, a bird that regularly ingests poisonous plants and can transmute those vegetal toxins into brilliant plumage.

In this way, and through this transit, we can imagine ourselves as alchemists of anguish, allowing the poisonous partnerships and patterns we may have experienced to inform and transform us.

From the bane comes the beauty, and the beauty is the balm, my babies.

Because Scorpio is a sign synonymous with control and transformation, Springer assures that this transit will both illuminate what needs to be changed and empower us to do what must be done.

To better understand what areas of your life will play host to this transformative work, look to the house in your birth chart ruled by Scorpio.
