A man long sought by the FBI, who was apprehended in Mexico last year for allegedly murdering his newlywed wife, has been extradited to Chicago, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The tragic incident occurred in 2012 when the victim was discovered fatally stabbed in a bathtub, still clad in her wedding dress, in the suburb of Burbank.

Authorities reported that Estrella Carrera, 26, was found dead on May 13, 2012, in the bathtub of her apartment located in the 7800 block of South Rutherford in Burbank.
Just days after the discovery, an arrest warrant was issued for Carrera’s husband, Arnoldo Jimenez, who had recently married her.
Jimenez, who had been placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, was captured in Monterrey, Mexico, in January 2025, according to a statement from the FBI’s Chicago office.
FBI Chicago confirms arrested Jimenez with help from authorities in Mexico. The FBI also credits Burbank police in the tracking and capture of Jimenez.
“Jimenez was wanted in connection with the murder of Estrella Carrera who was found deceased less than 48 hours after their wedding,” the FBI said in a news release Thursday. “No matter how much time has passed or where a criminal may be in the world, the FBI will never stop in our pursuit of justice.”
Officials shared an image of Jimenez, on Thursday, over a year after his arrest in Mexico, confirming he has now been captured and brough to Chicago.
No further information about the next steps for Jimenez was available.
