In a devastating incident that has rocked Shreveport, Louisiana, eight children, including an infant, lost their lives in a mass shooting. The tragedy unfolded on Saturday night when a gunman, in a fit of madness, targeted three different homes across the city.
Authorities report that a total of ten individuals were struck by gunfire, with eight succumbing to their injuries. The victims, tragically, ranged in age from just one year old to 14 years. The Shreveport Police Department confirmed that some of those killed were related to the assailant, described as his “descendants,” during a news briefing by spokesperson Christopher Bordelon.
Following the horrific events, the shooter attempted to flee the scene by carjacking a vehicle. However, his escape was thwarted when police officers intercepted and fatally shot him. Officials have revealed that the crime scene extended across two homes on a single street and a third home located nearby, underscoring the extensive nature of the attack.
Following the shooting, the gunman carjacked a vehicle and tried to escape, before being shot dead by cops, according to authorities.
The crime scene was described as “extensive” and spanned two homes on the same street and a third on a nearby street.
“The individual responsible once leaving this scene performed a carjacking right here in close proximity to the corner of West 79th and Lynnwood, at which point in time, Shreveport police patrol officers got behind that vehicle in a chase incident,” Bordelon said.
