In a tragic turn of events in Salt Lake City, a shooting outside a funeral has left two individuals dead and six others wounded. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, casting a somber shadow over what should have been a day of mourning.
The Salt Lake City Police Department is actively searching for suspects, with no arrests made at this time. Glen Mills, the department’s public information officer, confirmed the ongoing manhunt as authorities work tirelessly to apprehend those responsible.
Law enforcement officials received the distressing call shortly after 7:30 p.m. local time. The shooting took place at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located on Redwood Road, where a funeral service was underway.

The violence erupted in the chapel’s parking lot when an altercation escalated, leading to gunfire. Amid the chaos, the safety of attendees was shattered, resulting in two fatalities and leaving several others injured.
Among the wounded, three individuals are reported to be in critical condition, while the condition of the remaining three victims remains uncertain. The community now grapples with the aftermath of this devastating event as they seek justice and healing.
Police are still determining if there was one suspect or multiple suspects.
In a statement, Sam Penrod, spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said the church was aware of a “serious incident” outside the church meetinghouse while a memorial service was taking place.
“We extend prayers for all who have been impacted by this tragedy and express deep concern that any sacred space intended for worship should be subjected to violence of any kind,” the statement said.
