Dramatic courthouse surveillance video appears to capture a newly sentenced Ohio man slipping free from his handcuffs, allegedly punching a bailiff and making a frantic dash for the exit before deputies brought the escape attempt to an end.
Timothy J. Reaggle, 20, of Wellsville, is accused of assaulting two Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Monday shortly after being told he would serve a year in prison in a separate case, local reports said.
Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin told WFMJ that both deputies sustained broken bones in the courthouse attack. They have since been released from the hospital.
Footage released by the sheriff’s office shows a deputy escorting Reaggle through a hallway after sentencing. Reaggle suddenly appears to break free of his handcuffs, then allegedly strikes the deputy before taking off down the corridor.

As Reaggle races through the hallway, the video appears to show him colliding with a second deputy and knocking the officer to the floor.
Reaggle then allegedly moved toward the courthouse exit. The footage shows him sliding down the steps and running toward the front doors before deputies subdued him with a Taser and took him back into custody.
Others in the building rushed to help the injured deputies, the video shows. According to WFMJ, one deputy was later seen on the floor with blood coming from his head while pressing a paper towel to his face.
Reaggle had just received a one-year prison sentence in a case stemming from Feb. 14, 2025, according to WKBN.

In July, he pleaded guilty to charges that included aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated menacing, failure to comply and two misdemeanor assault counts.

McLaughlin said Reaggle is being held at the Columbiana County Jail and will eventually be transported to state prison.
Reaggle is also awaiting potential new charges stemming from the courthouse incident.

According to WFMJ, McLaughlin said those charges are expected to include assault on a police officer and felony escape.
