In a perplexing case unfolding in Washington state, two men in their 50s stand accused of living under stolen identities for over 30 years. Authorities are now seeking public assistance to uncover the truth about their real identities.

The men, who have been going by the names Tim Seidenfeld and Glenn Scotzin since the 1990s, are believed to have assumed the identities of two Idaho children who tragically died in separate incidents during the early 1970s. This information was revealed by the Pasco Police Department in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The investigation has been described as a complex tapestry of identity theft spanning several states. Surprisingly, police are not on a manhunt for the duo, as their current whereabouts are already known. Instead, the focus is on piecing together the details of their lives under these assumed names.

“We know exactly where they are,” remarked Pasco Police Lieutenant Tom Groom to the Tri-City Herald. “Our goal is to gather information about how they have managed to live under these identities for so many years.”

Authorities hope that by shedding light on the men’s unusual existence, they can finally solve this decades-old mystery. The case serves as a chilling reminder of the lengths some individuals will go to in order to elude their pasts.

The men appear to have surfaced in Salem, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, in 1990, shortly after assuming the identities. From there, they left a faint trail across the country, with ties to Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Texas and California.

Police believe both men may have worked in the telecommunications industry in the early 1990s, but say no official employment records exist, deepening the mystery.

“Due to the length of time these individuals have operated under stolen identities, traditional identification methods have proven to be challenging,” police said.

Authorities have not said whether the men are suspected of other crimes, but the unusual case has raised questions about how they were able to disappear into someone else’s life for more than 30 years.
