Several prominent members of the Trump administration, including the president and vice president themselves, will speak at the service on Sunday.
WASHINGTON — A veritable who’s-who of prominent Republicans will be in Arizona this weekend to attend the funeral of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated earlier this month while speaking at an event in Utah.
Many Republican leaders and prominent conservatives were personally close with him and mourned publicly in the days after his assassination.
Several prominent members of the Trump administration, including the president and vice president, will speak at the service. House Speaker Mike Johnson is not scheduled to speak, but will attend the event.
Here’s the list of who we know is attending:
President Donald Trump
Trump announced during his trip to the United Kingdom this week that he would be returning to the U.S. in time to attend Kirk’s funeral. Trump is expected to speak during the event.
Kirk was a personal friend to the president, as well as a prominent conservative voice that helped drive young men toward the Republican party, helping Trump win the presidency in both 2016 and 2024.
It’s unclear if first lady Melania Trump will attend the service.
Vice President JD Vance
Vance and Kirk were close friends, with Vance crediting the activist with introducing him to Donald Trump Jr. and setting him on the path that would lead to the White House.
The vice president skipped a 9/11 memorial service in New York to personally fly Kirk’s body back to Arizona on Air Force Two.
Vance also hosted Kirk’s podcast in its first episode after the assassination, speaking to viewers for two hours from the White House.
Erika Kirk
Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, is expected to speak at her husband’s funeral about his legacy and the future of Turning Point after his death.
Erika Kirk was tapped by Turning Point USA to lead the group in the wake of his death, propelling her to the head of a group of conservative-aligned advocacy groups across the U.S.
