The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says two women and one man were shot in the area of Labelle and Plymouth streets Tuesday night.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A second triple shooting on the First Coast in less than 24 hours, has left one person dead and two others recovering in Jacksonville Wednesday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO’s Sergeant Henson says at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, patrol officers responded to the area of Labelle Street and Plymouth Street in reference to a death investigation. When officers arrived, two women and one man were found suffering from gunshot wounds, police say.

Henson says “several individuals” were in a parking lot in the area and at some point, an altercation occurred and firearms discharged.

Police did not release the identities of the three people shot nor say how many individuals were in the parking lot at the time shots were fired.

JSO says one of the women shot was taken to a local hospital by first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department as “lifesaving measures were unsuccessful.” The two other victims took themselves to the hospital, according to police.

“At this time, we do not know the circumstances of the incident or the relationships of those involved,” JSO told First Coast News. “Because of this, the classification of the incident is pending.”

Four people have been detained from the incident, police say, as they were taken to the Police Memorial Building in Downtown Jacksonville to be interviewed. Henson says the sheriff’s office is investigating the incident with the State Attorney’s Office and Medical Examiner’s Office.

Anyone with information on the incident can provide it by calling JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous while providing it, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
