Woman Escapes Moving Car After Coworker Allegedly Slashes Throat

A New York man allegedly slashed a female coworker’s throat while she was driving him home, police said.

Saratoga Springs police said they responded Friday after a vehicle crashed into Augie’s To-Go, an Italian restaurant. Officers found that the driver had suffered a “serious laceration” to her neck, an injury that appeared to be unrelated to the crash.

David Cruz Torres, 36, of Michoacán, Mexico, was identified as the passenger. Police said he attempted to flee the scene before officers detained him.

Detectives later determined that the victim and Cruz Torres work together in Saratoga Springs. Police said Cruz Torres asked the woman for a ride home after their shift ended.

According to police, Cruz Torres attacked the woman while she was driving, pulled out a knife and cut her throat. The victim jumped from the moving vehicle and managed to call out for help.
