State troopers say Finale Mareus, 37, bit another construction employee’s cheek and then struck him in the head with a steel rebar.

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — A fight between two construction workers on the side of I-75 ended in an arrest and another significantly injured.

Just before 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Florida Highway Patrol responded to reports of an “active assault” taking place inside a construction zone at mile marker 222 in Manatee County.

After arriving, state troopers reportedly determined that Finale Mareus, 37, got into an argument with another construction employee before biting his cheek and then striking him in the head with a steel rebar.

The man was treated at the scene for significant injuries, but officials say he refused transport.

Meanwhile, Mareus was arrested and booked into Manatee County Jail where she faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to FHP.
