She was born and raised in Montreal, and at the age of 16, she discovered her passion for storytelling when she traveled to southern Africa and was inspired to make a documentary about HIV/AIDS.
She began interning at Global Montreal at the age of 17 and was hired as a reporter in 2012, just as she completed her journalism degree at Concordia University.

Adam and her husband met in 2010, but they had known each other since high school. When Diwan proposed to her, the couple experienced a lovely moment.
They devised a scheme in which the journalist was dispatched on a phony assignment to Montreal and was led blindfolded to La Fontaine Park, where her beau was waiting with a ring in his hands.
