MEMORISE: O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. – Jeremiah 10:23 (KJV)

READ: John 6:5-13 (KJV)

5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 4-5

Open Heaven 14 March 2026 MESSAGE

Today’s Bible reading tells us about a boy who gave his lunch to Jesus. He must have been planning to eat it, but when he learnt that Jesus had a need for it, he surrendered it willingly. At the end of the day, 12 baskets of food remained. I once asked my children about their thoughts concerning what might have happened to the 12 baskets, and one of them said that since there were 12 apostles, each apostle must have taken a basket. I believe, however, that the 12 baskets were carried to the boy’s house. The Bible tells us that everything returns to its source – this is why all waters return to the sea (Ecclesiastes 1:7). It is the one who sows who will reap. Because the boy chose to trust God with what he had, God revealed Himself as the More-Than-Sufficient One. When you commit your ways to the Lord and surrender all you have to Him, He will reveal Himself to you in ways that are beyond your wildest imagination.

In 1 Kings 17:8-16, the widow of Zarephath had only one meal left for her and her son to eat. She surrendered it to Elijah, and she never lacked throughout the famine. Likewise, the Bible says that God performed special miracles through Apostle Paul (Acts 19:11). He surrendered everything God gave him back to the Lord, and God honoured his absolute surrender by making him one of the greatest apostles (2 Corinthians 12:11-12). I want to encourage you not to struggle with God over your life. Surrender to Him completely, and I assure you that your testimony will be that it is a good thing to trust in the Lord.

Surrendering to God begins with giving your heart to Him completely. God will either be Lord of all, or He will not be Lord at all. He always comes to take charge and take over, and those who are willing to let Him be God experience His full support, protection, and help. They also enjoy unprecedented and wholesome victories in their lives.

Beloved, let God have it all. Today’s memory verse tells us that it is not in man to direct his steps. Since you are limited, why not hand everything over to the Unlimited God who can bring out the best from your life? He is faithful and able to keep everything that is committed into His care.

DCLM Daily Manna 14 March 2026 — An Encouraging Hope

DCLM Daily Manna 14 March 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — An Encouraging Hope

TOPIC: An Encouraging Hope (DCLM Daily Manna 14 March 2026)

KEY VERSE: But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall – Malachi 4:2

TEXT: Malachi 4:1-6 (KJV)

1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:

6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

The story of Viktor Frankl, a Jewish survivor of holocaust, is a testimony of the transformative power of hope in overcoming adversity and achieving great things in spite of oppressive and negative circumstances. Viktor, his wife and his parents were arrested in 1942 and deported to concentration camps. His parents were killed in the gas chambers, while Viktor and his wife were separated and sent to different camps. Despite the unimaginable suffering, he found hope amid despair. He went on to develop logo-therapy, which focused on finding meaning and purpose in life. He believed that in the most challenging and painful circumstances, one can find meaning and purpose and thereby develop a powerful resilience for survival.

God gives this power of hope to the righteous who lived among the proud and the wicked in Israel. In this last prophetic utterance recorded in the Old Testament, God declares that there is a coming day of devastating judgment upon all the arrogant, wicked and sinful people of the land. Those who live in pride and wickedness, carrying on as though there was no one to question them, would face terrible judgment on the coming day of the Lord. But for those who choose to live in righteousness and the fear of the Lord in spite of prevailing and pervading sinfulness and wickedness, God gives a promise of divine visitation and preservation. The Sun of righteousness would rise for them and cause them to triumph over the wicked who hither to had oppressed and harassed them. This promise serves as a hope booster, giving them the strength to remain resilient and forge on in spite of temporal adversity.

Just as the Lord spoke of the coming day of judgment on sinful and backslidden Israel, He has equally spoken of the coming day of judgment on this world that has totally forgotten God. Sinners who have turned their back on God and have chosen to indulge in all forms of sins and abominations will face the judgment of God. But for the believer, the promise of the impending return of the Lord to take the believers away from divine wrath is a great source of hope. This hope is a source of encouragement to the believer to continue to live righteously in a world where holy living has become increasingly unpopular .

In the face of the discouraging situation in the world, the believer has something to look forward to, for survival. The believers’ hope is not only in the rapture. There is hope for the present day. Whatever the situation believers face, the Lord has promised to show up in their lives as “the Sun of righteousness with healing in his wings.”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Those who put their trust in Christ have a hope that is as constant as the northern star.

Tragic Incident at New York Airport: Air Canada Jet Collision with Ground Vehicle Claims Two Lives

0

Two pilots tragically lost their lives when an Air Canada Express regional jet collided with a fire truck during landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York on Monday. This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the airport, according to authorities and reports from U.S. media outlets.

Both the pilot and co-pilot were confirmed dead following the collision, as reported by media sources including CNN and NBC. Additionally, 13 individuals suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital. This group comprised 11 passengers and two first responders, as detailed by ABC News.

Reports from the news channel, based on insider information, indicated that the fire truck involved was operated by police officers. NBC News previously mentioned that a sergeant and an officer sustained broken limbs and were hospitalized in stable condition.

The aircraft, managed by Jazz Aviation—a regional affiliate of Air Canada—collided with the firefighting vehicle on the runway just before midnight local time. The vehicle was attending to a separate emergency, according to the New York Port Authority.

Jazz Aviation released a statement revealing that the preliminary passenger manifest included 76 individuals onboard, comprising four crew members.

US aviation authorities ordered all flights at the airport to be grounded, adding there was a “high” likelihood of an extended suspension.

The aircraft struck the fire vehicle at a speed of about 39 km/h, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.

Photos taken after the accident showed visible damage to the nose of the plane, which was tilted upward.

Authorities and emergency agencies did not offer any immediate comments on deaths or injuries.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the airport was expected to remain shut until 2pm local time on Monday. More than a dozen flights were diverted to other airports, mostly in the New York area, or returned to their point of origin, according to FlightRadar24.

Air Canada referred Reuters to Jazz’s statement and said it was aware of the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

New York City’s emergency notification system said people could expect cancellations, road closures, traffic delays and emergency personnel near the airport.

Located in the New York borough of Queens, LaGuardia is New York’s third-busiest airport, serving 33.5 million passengers in 2024, according to port authority figures.

It completed an $8 billion redevelopment in 2024, upgrading its ageing infrastructure with new terminals and roadways.

Deadly air crashes in the United States in recent years include a collision between a passenger jet and an army helicopter near Washington in January 2025 that killed 67 people.

Other incidents and close calls have taken place while aircraft were on the ground.

Suspect in Brothel Owner’s Rape and Murder Seeks Dismissal of Charges

0

A man accused of the rape and murder of a brothel owner has challenged the prosecution’s case, describing it as mere “guesswork” in his bid to have the charges against him dismissed.

Michael James Chalmers, aged 36, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday, where he faced charges related to the death of Yuko, an Asian migrant sex worker.

Yuko, 62, was discovered dead at the Footscray brothel she managed in Melbourne’s western suburbs in late November 2024.

Asian migrant sex worker Yuko, 62, was found dead in late 2024 at the brothel she ran on Cowper Street in Footscray, with Michael James Chalmers charged with her murder.

Prosecutor Jordan Johnston presented evidence in court, including CCTV footage that allegedly captured Chalmers engaging in a brief conversation with Yuko. The footage purportedly shows him placing her in a headlock and restraining her on a bed shortly thereafter.

“The interaction commences with violence,” Mr. Johnston stated during the Monday morning proceedings, highlighting the severity of the initial encounter as captured on the footage.

Chalmers was captured on the footage leaving the brothel room about 30 minutes later while Yuko was either unconscious or already dead, the prosecutor said.

Two pathologists previously told the court Yuko likely died from strangulation or smothering.

The prosecutor said the injuries Yuko sustained were consistent with rape and the CCTV showed a “quite shocking” act of violence.

But defence barrister Barnaby Johnston argued there were was no DNA evidence linking Chalmers to those injuries, and Yuko had seen other clients in the lead-up to her death.

“It is utter guesswork how those injuries occurred,” the defence barrister said.

He urged magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano to discharge Chalmers of rape and the state offence of murder, which alleges the 36-year-old unintentionally caused the death during the rape.

Chalmers is also facing a separate charge of common law murder.

The prosecutor accepted it was an atypical and circumstantial case but argued it should be left to a jury to decide.

Mr Caltabiano will have to consider whether there is sufficient evidence to commit Chalmers to stand trial in the Supreme Court on all or some of the charges.

The magistrate adjourned his decision to March 31.

Hawaii Faces Historic $1 Billion Loss in Worst Flooding Event in Two Decades

0

Hawaii is grappling with unprecedented flooding that has displaced thousands and inflicted damage exceeding $1 billion. Meanwhile, search teams are tirelessly looking for an elderly woman who was swept away by the raging waters.

Authorities have called for evacuations across severely impacted regions of Oahu and Maui on Saturday, as the islands endure their most severe flooding in over two decades. The catastrophic conditions were triggered by torrential rains that saturated already soaked ground, following a winter storm just a week earlier.

The search efforts have intensified for a 71-year-old woman who reportedly disappeared into a swollen stream on Saturday.

Witnesses last observed her near an encampment by the Iao Stream on Waiehu Beach Road. She was attempting to collect water with a basket when she accidentally fell into the current, as reported by the Maui Police Department.

Rescue teams have been conducting thorough ground searches along the riverbanks and in nearby areas. They have also deployed helicopters and jet skis for air and sea searches, though the woman remains missing. The search operations are continuing with determination.

Meanwhile, Governor Josh Green estimated that the damage to both public and private sectors will cost over $1 billion, as a statewide flood watch remains in effect through Sunday.

‘You can see the flood levels are significant. We’ll have over $1 billion of damage, it appears,’ he told CNN on Saturday.

‘We’ve had 40 to 50 inches of rain, the largest flood that we’ve had in 20 years. This has been going on for about 11 days. We did have two terrible injuries that resulted in spinal cord injuries. One hospital went down and has been wiped out on Maui.’

He added, ‘We’ve had 236 people get rescued. We had a whole camp that had to be rescued. This is spring break for the public schools, and people were isolated and trapped in certain areas. There were people that were on rooftops.’

At a Friday press conference, Green explained the $1 billion estimate includes ‘damage to the airports, a major hospital that’s been damaged on Maui.’

He added, ‘Lots of damage at schools, roads, and then of course, the innumerable events that have happened at people’s homes where they’ve lost structure and it will have to be repaired.’

Authorities have also warned that the Wahiawa Dam on Oahu was at risk of failure, prompting urgent evacuation orders for communities downstream in Haleiwa and Waialua on the island’s North Shore.

According to the National Weather Service, most of Hawaii will remain under a flood watch through Sunday afternoon. This includes the islands of Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Big Island.

Hollywood star Jason Momoa was among thousands of Hawaiians forced to flee as a powerful storm battered the islands, causing dangerous, potentially fatal flooding.

Momoa took to Instagram and revealed he fled the North Shore after losing power and was with his family.

‘We’re safe now, but there’s a lot of people who weren’t, so sending all our love,’ he said.

The Aquaman actor also shared footage of flooding near his father’s home, calling the destruction ‘crazy’ and pleading with his followers to stay safe.

Momoa said the dangerous weather forced him to cancel a music event planned for the weekend.

The actor, who was born in Honolulu, posted on Instagram ahead of the weekend that the past weeks had been ‘heavy’ for his home state.

‘The storms, the flooding, the constant rain across Oahu have affected so many of our people, especially those already facing hardship,’ Momoa said.

‘Seeing families displaced, communities struggling, and our unhoused neighbors hit the hardest…’

Momoa encouraged locals to check in on neighbors ahead of the dangerous next few days.

‘That’s what aloha is,’ Momoa wrote. ‘It’s showing up for each other when it matters most.’

Rhapsody Of Realities 23 March 2026: Dominion Over Satan And His Works

Rhapsody Of Realities 23 March 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Dominion Over Satan And His Works

TOPIC: Dominion Over Satan And His Works (Rhapsody of Realities 23 March 2026)

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

The Scriptures don’t give us the impression that all sicknesses and diseases are caused by demons. However, Satan does have a remote connection to sickness because he was the cause of sin from the very beginning, and the Bible tells us that through sin, death entered into the world. Sickness is simply incipient death.

Without sin, there would have been no sickness at all. But some have asked, “If Satan has something to do with sickness, how come doctors are able to cure them?” The answer is simple: Satan is not omnipotent. He doesn’t have all the power. He cannot control all of nature, nor can he totally dominate human life. Man still has a will, and man still has authority.

For example, consider the story of the demon-possessed man of Gadara (Mark 5:1-15). The Bible says he had a legion of demons, yet when the Lord Jesus came by, he ran toward Him. If the demons had their way, they would have prevented the man from approaching the Master. But they couldn’t stop him because even a demon-possessed man is not 100% controlled by Satan; his will still functions.

This shows that human beings, made in the image of God, are of a higher order than fallen angels. So, any evil or damage caused by Satan can often be undone. If, for example, someone had a car accident through satanic manipulation and the car was wrecked, you can repair the car, and Satan cannot stop it.

If Satan had all the power people imagine he has, he would have destroyed everyone long ago. But he hasn’t because he can’t. Yes, Satan does cause trouble, but as already stated, much of what he does can be undone through human effort. But where human ability stops, we use the Name of Jesus. The Lord Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and give us dominion over him and his cohorts of darkness. You have power far beyond human strength, far beyond this world. It’s the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s the power of the Name of Jesus. Therefore, your authority in Christ Jesus is greater than every force of darkness.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for giving me authority in the Name of Jesus. I exercise that authority over sickness, disease, and every work of darkness. I live in the victory of Christ, knowing that Satan is under my feet; His schemes are futile in and around me, and in the lives of those in my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Tragic Road Rage Incident on Edgewood Avenue: Suspect Search Intensifies After Fatal Shooting

0

In a tragic turn of events on Edgewood Avenue West, a road rage incident escalated into a deadly shootout, culminating in the death of a man. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the incident, which unfolded near the on-ramp to I-95 North.

Officers responded promptly to the scene at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a man, estimated to be in his early to mid-30s, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings by the sheriff’s office suggest that the confrontation began as a road rage altercation. According to the investigation, the victim and an unidentified suspect stopped their vehicles at the on-ramp. It is believed that both individuals exited their cars and, armed with handguns, engaged in a shootout.

This incident underscores the potential dangers associated with road rage and highlights the tragic consequences that can arise from such confrontations. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in identifying the suspect involved in this fatal encounter.

Police said Sunday night that they believe the male suspect and the victim both stopped their cars at the on-ramp and exited with handguns before shooting at each other.

The suspect left the scene, and their identity was not immediately known. The sheriff’s office said they were looking for a male in a small silver SUV.

Anyone with information on the shooting and the suspect is asked to reach out to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office directly at 904-630-0500. Anonymous tips can also be made through First Coast Crime Stoppers.

Investigators are expected to remain on scene for several hours.

Breakthrough in Cold Case: Suspect Charged After 6 Years, Search Ongoing for Missing Pregnant Teen and Baby’s Remains

0

Over six years after a pregnant teenager disappeared in California, authorities have now charged her boyfriend in connection with her case.

On March 16, San Joaquin District Attorney Ron Freitas revealed that a grand jury had indicted Joshua Martinez. He faces charges related to the murder of Victoria Marquina, along with accusations of unlawful intercourse with a minor more than three years younger, oral copulation with a person under 18, and sexual penetration by a foreign object involving a victim under 18.

In a press conference, Freitas stated, “This marks our second cold case prosecution since I assumed office. To those criminals who believe time will erase their transgressions, you are mistaken. And to the families of cold case victims, rest assured, we will relentlessly pursue justice for your loved ones.”

Victoria Marquina was last seen on October 9, 2019, near her place of work. When the 16-year-old failed to return home, her mother reported her missing the following day, initiating an extensive investigation that spanned years.

Suspicion quickly centered on Martinez, who was 21 at the time of Marquina’s disappearance. Freitas noted that their relationship was “very short-lived.”

From early on, suspicion fell to Martinez, who was 21 years old at the time Marquina disappeared. According to Frietas, the two had a “very short relationship.”

“They had met just about a month before her disappearance,” he said at the press conference. “She became pregnant, and then she went missing. So it was a whirlwind, very fast relationship, and very, very short.”

Martinez allegedly admitted to seeing Marquina around the time she disappeared, but told investigators that he’d dropped her off in Sutter Creek the morning of Oct. 6 and hadn’t seen her again, according to a 2019 statement from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office added, “Joshua’s residence was searched, but Victoria was not located.”

The pregnant teenager’s black Honda Accord was later found abandoned on Oct. 13 in San Joaquin County. An eye witness had reported seeing a young Hispanic couple matching the description of Martinez and Marquina with his vehicle, the sheriff’s office said at the time.

Martinez fled to Mexico shortly after Marquina disappeared, but was later extradited back to the United States, according to CBS News. He was arrested once previously in connection to the case, but was later released.

New Information Led to Arrest of Joshua Martinez

Frietas said on March 16 that the new charges against Martinez were the result of some “new information” in the case, but declined to provide further details.

The Amardor County District Attorney’s Office—who worked in conjunction with the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office—said in a statement that evidence was discovered during the investigation “indicating that Victoria became the victim of a homicide outside of Amador County.”

“Victoria’s family has endured an unimaginable tragedy — the disappearance of a child under criminal circumstances,” Amador County District Attorney Todd Riebe said in the statement. “The involvement of multiple agencies and evidence spanning several counties has made this already devastating situation even more complex and painful for them over the years.”

The teen’s body has never been found.

“Victoria is dead, and we are looking for her remains and the remains of her unborn child,” Frietas said during the press conference. “We need closure for the family. So anyone having that information of where her remains are, we’re asking them to come forward.”

Victoria Marquina’s Mom Says Daughter Had “Many Dreams”

In comments to CBS News Sacramento, Marquina’s mom Blance Valencia said through an interpreter that she believes “justice is working” in the case.

“I think that by now she would be graduated, received, and would be a fulfilled woman,” she told the outlet. ”She had many dreams. Many dreams. Unfortunately, someone cut us off. But I still have faith, I still have hope that she will return home.”

If convicted of the charges against him, Martinez could face a maximum sentence of life in prison, prosecutors said. He is currently being held without bail at the San Joaquin County jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 6.

It’s unclear whether he has retained an attorney. Oxygen reached out to the San Joaquin County Public Defender’s Office, but did not receive an immediate reply.

Three Hooded Individuals Allegedly Ignite Ambulances Outside Golders Green Synagogue, Prompting Antisemitic Hate Crime Investigation

0

In a distressing incident this morning, four Jewish volunteer ambulances were set ablaze outside a synagogue in London, sparking concerns of an antisemitic hate crime. The attack has been strongly condemned by Labour leader Keir Starmer.

Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the arson attack, which targeted vehicles belonging to the Jewish Community Ambulance service. The incident occurred late at night, raising alarms about the safety of community resources.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with six fire engines and 40 firefighters dispatched to Highfield Road near the Mchzike Hadath synagogue in Golders Green. The crews arrived at approximately 1:45 a.m. to extinguish the raging fires. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Security camera footage circulating on social media captures a troubling scene where three hooded individuals approach one of the parked ambulances, which subsequently bursts into flames. The suspects are then seen fleeing the scene.

Additional footage reveals the ambulances engulfed in fire, accompanied by several loud explosions echoing through the night. The incident has raised serious concerns within the community and beyond.

Such was the force of the blasts, believed to be gas canisters onboard the Hatzola ambulances, they caused windows to break in a nearby block of flats.

The Prime Minister said the incident was ‘deeply shocking’, while the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, described it as a ‘cowardly attack on the Jewish community’.

Sir Keir Starmer said: ‘This is a deeply shocking antisemitic arson attack.

‘My thoughts are with the Jewish community who are waking up this morning to this horrific news.

‘Antisemitism has no place in our society. Anyone with any information must come forward to the police.’

The vehicles were part of a non-profit volunteer Jewish organisation, which provides a 24/7 emergency service to the community for free.

Residents in the area were evacuated as a precaution and roads in the surrounding area remain closed.

Hatzola, which was established in 1979 and is run by volunteers, provides free medical transportation to those living in North London.

Seeking to reassure Londoners on Monday, Sir Sadiq Khan said: ‘This is a cowardly attack on the Jewish community.

‘I am in close contact with the police who are stepping up patrols in the area, and I urge anyone with information to come forward.

‘Londoners will never be cowed by this kind of hatred and intimidation.’

Superintendent Sarah Jackson, said: ‘We know this incident will cause a great deal of community concern and officers remain on scene to carry out urgent enquiries.

‘We are in the process of examining CCTV and are aware of online footage. We believe we are looking for three suspects at this early stage.

‘There have been no arrests yet, and we would urge anyone with information to please contact us as soon as possible – you can do so anonymously if you wish.

‘We will be engaging with faith leaders and carrying out additional patrols in the local area as we continue our investigation to provide reassurance and a highly visible presence.’

Health Secretary Wes Streeting described the fire as a ‘sickening attack’, in a statement on social media.

He added: ‘Thank goodness there appear to be no injuries.  Anyone with information should come forward to the Police.  We must stand together against antisemitic hatred.’

Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis said in a statement on X: ‘The deliberate arson attacks against Hatzola ambulances in London are a particularly sickening assault – not only on the Jewish community, but on the values we share as a society.

‘Our Hatzola volunteer ambulance corps is an extraordinary service, whose sole mission is to protect life, Jewish and non-Jewish alike.

‘The targeting of Hatzola by people so committed to terror, hatred and the desecration of life is a most painful illustration of the ongoing battle between those who sanctify life and those who seek to destroy it.

‘At a time when Jewish communities around the world are facing a growing pattern of these violent attacks, we will meet this moment with shared resolve and stand together against hatred and intimidation.’

Community Security Trust (CST), a charity which monitors antisemitism in the UK, confirmed in a statement on X that it was assisting police in their enquiries.

The statement said: ‘We are aware of multiple Hatzola ambulances that have been deliberately set alight in London.

‘This has obvious comparison to similar antisemitic arson attacks recently in Belgium and the Netherlands.

‘No injuries have been reported at this time and we are helping MPSBarnet with their enquiries.’

Shomrim, a non-profit organisation which operates a neighbourhood watch in the Golders Green neighbourhood, said it was ‘aware of loud explosions’ early on Monday morning.

‘Emergency services are on scene following a deliberate incident involving Hatzola ambulances being set alight,’ the group said in a post on X.

‘The explosions were caused by oxygen tanks not a bomb or explosive device. Although some buildings have been evacuated no casualties have been reported.

‘Please avoid the area while investigations continue.’

Shomrim said the facility run by Hatzola remained fully operational following the fire.

Golders Green ward councillor Dean Cohen, who was at the scene, told Jewish News that the fact the incident was taking place in the ‘car park of a synagogue is particularly chilling and will send shockwaves through our community at a time of already heightened fears over antisemitism in the UK’.

He said: ‘It’s beyond time for the authorities to wake and do more to tackle this hate running riot.’

Peter Zinkin, who represents the Golders Green ward on Barnet Council, said his initial response was ‘shock and horror’, but said the second response was a ‘deep and overwhelming sadness that this has happened’.

He added: ‘You have to ask yourself, why is this happening? And the answer, tragically, is that a combination of circumstances, led by part of the Government and part of the media, has validated antisemitism in this country, to the point that three individuals have concluded that it’s okay to set ambulances, whose sole purpose, is life-saving or life helping, funded by the local community, alight.’

Councillor Zinkin, who is the Tory group leader on the council, added: ‘We will be doing everything we can to encourage the police, and of course, our own Community Security Trust, to recognise the elevated level of threat that we now seem to be under, and to increase the level of security, which the community is sheltering behind, which is just terrible. Just terrible.’

Local resident and councillor Shimon Ryde told the BBC: ‘It’s very shocking, it’s not unexpected.

‘The Jewish community is very aware of the danger we live in.’

Housing minister Matthew Pennycook said the apparent arson attack on ambulances in Golders Green, north London, was ‘deeply shocking’.

When asked whether there was a concern it could be a pro-Iranian attack, Mr Pennycook said: ‘I’m sure the security services will be looking into that, and the Met will be investigating. I’m very reluctant to get ahead of what is still a live investigation.’

Board of Deputies of British Jews President Phil Rosenberg said the attack on Hatzola Jewish community ambulances was ‘despicable’.

Phil said: ‘Ambulances, like those of the wonderful Hatzola organisation, point to the Jewish obligation to “choose life”.

‘By contrast, the despicable individuals who committed an arson attack on ambulances in Golders Green this morning show the emptiness of their cause.

‘While the motives are unclear at this stage, this attack comes in the context of rising antisemitism around the world. This is a threat not just to the Jewish community but to our societies as a whole.

‘We thank the emergency services, the Community Security Trust, Shomrim and Hatzola for their rapid response and their work to keep us safe every day. We urge the public to support the police in finding the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.

‘The UK Jewish community will meet the moment with strength, pride and resolve. We will replace the ambulances and continue our service to this nation that we love.

‘We shall not be moved.’

Austin’s Influence Reaches from New Zealand to Orkney: Discover the Global Impact

For drivers, acquiring your first vehicle is a significant milestone, filled with memories that grow alongside the odometer readings.

Yet one woman from Scotland has taken her enthusiasm to another level by purchasing the same type of classic car she owned nearly half a century ago—sourced from the other side of the globe.

Cathleen Hourie, now 72, originally received her first Austin 3-litre from a past boyfriend who had lost his driver’s license and needed someone to chauffeur him around.

Eventually, Cathleen parted with the beloved car, a decision she has regretted ever since.

After years of longing for her old automobile, she was ecstatic to discover an identical model available for purchase.

However, the vehicle was marketed by a dealer in New Zealand.

She messaged car seller Hans Compter and finally picked up the keys earlier this year.

Mrs Hourie explained that in the late 1970s she became the owner of this model of car after the deal with her then boyfriend and added: ‘It seemed like a good idea at the time.

‘I got over the boyfriend – but I never got over the car.’

Although the retired hairdresser went on to own other Austin 3-Litres, it was the first one she struggled to let go.

And after trawling the internet to find more for sale, she was delighted to spot one advertised last summer until she realised the vehicle was in New Zealand.

She contacted Mr Compter after seeing the four-figure sale price included shipment to the Netherlands and added: ‘He became enthusiastic about getting it here [to me in Orkney].’

After securing the deal last year, the seller – who is in his mid 80s – began the process of getting it over to Scotland.

Mr Compter who has bases in New Zealand and the Netherlands packed the car in a container and had it transported to his homeland in Europe.

He fixed it up and loaded it onto his 1970 Opel Blitz truck that has been turned into a car transporter before sailing to Newcastle and driving onwards to Orkney.

However, Mr Compter still had quite a distance to travel, and his long journey nearly hit the buffers at the notoriously steep Berriedale Braes in Caithness, after pulling into what he thought was a lay-by, but was actually a soft escape bed for vehicles whose brakes have failed.

He was stuck for about an hour before being pulled out.

Mrs Hourie says she had offered to meet him in Aberdeen, but he insisted on taking the vehicle all the way to Orkney.

Austin made fewer than 10,000 of the 3-Litre model, and there are believed to be only around 30 of them left on the road.

She admitted his dedication to deliver the car in person was a bit of a shock and added: ‘Having now met Hans, I’m not in the least bit surprised. He has a great affinity for the cars that he has collected. He likes to know where they’re going, and why people want them.’

And the delighted new owner added: ‘It was quite a moment seeing it for the first time, and it’s just such a fun thing to think that it’s come that distance. It’s in really good condition, and I’m chuffed to pieces.’

In terms of the customer service rating she would give him, she said: ‘Absolutely five stars – maybe even six.’

Mrs Hourie and her farmer husband John even had Mr Compter to stay at their home for a couple of nights, and showed him around Orkney. She added: ‘I really enjoyed the couple of days he spent here with us, and we’ll keep in touch.’

Mr Compter was quoted saying of the vintage car: ‘I don’t see why you couldn’t use it for the next 50 years easily.’

As for why Mrs Hourie is such a fan of the Austin 3-Litre, she said. ‘I like the style of it, and it’s a pleasure to drive. You have to drive a classic car with a smile on your face. Everyone waves to you, everyone looks at it and asks you about it.

‘I think it’ll be a Sunday car for me, but I’ve been asked about taking it to a classic car show this summer in Shetland.’

Austin made fewer than 10,000 of the 3-Litre model, and there are believed to be only around 30 of them left on the road.

According to austinthreelitre.co.uk, it was the last luxury car to bear the Austin badge, and each one was built at the Austin Cowley factory between 1967 and 1971.

Police forces had a fleet for motorway use, while some were converted into ambulances, hearses, and limousines.
