The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that annually, over 5,000 babies are born with Down Syndrome across the United States. Despite the prevalence, misconceptions about the capabilities and lives of those with Down Syndrome persist.

One local advocate, Darla Schall, has been tirelessly working to change perceptions and foster inclusivity for years. She created a Facebook community, “Down Syndrome Awareness – Paxton Area,” which organizes an annual walk aimed at educating the public about Down Syndrome. Schall emphasizes the importance of challenging the limitations often imposed on individuals with this condition.

A California nanny, aged 41, faces serious allegations of child abuse after being caught on video allegedly hitting a toddler multiple times at a public park.

Suzanne Michelle Buhler was apprehended on charges of child abuse following an incident on March 16 involving a 22-month-old girl under her care, as reported by the Lincoln Police Department.

According to a police news release, officers were dispatched to Markham Ravine Park after receiving a report of an adult woman abusing a young child. The person who reported the incident claimed to have witnessed several instances of abuse and provided video evidence of the alleged attack.

Witnesses tracked Buhler to a nearby home, where police continued their investigation. Following their inquiries, Buhler was arrested. Authorities noted that the toddler had “visible injuries consistent with the reported assault” and received medical care before being returned to her family.

The police underscored their commitment to child safety, stating that they are dedicated to conducting a comprehensive investigation and ensuring those responsible are held accountable.

Additional details reported by Sacramento NBC affiliate KCRA indicate Buhler had been working as a nanny for the child’s family. She was reportedly hired through Care.com to help with their young daughter.

The parents said they trusted Buhler prior to the incident and described her as attentive in the months she worked with them.

“She was really developing our child in a very positive manner,” the victim’s father told the station.

According to the station, a landscaper at the park heard a child crying and observed what he believed was repeated physical abuse, prompting him to record part of the encounter and contact police. Concerned witnesses then followed Buhler back to the child’s home, where officers later informed the parents and showed them the video.

“It was a complete shock,” the father told KCRA after viewing the footage.

Reporting from The Sacramento Bee adds that the child’s mother said she initially viewed Buhler as a positive influence, even describing her as “Nanny McPhee,” noting her daughter had learned basic skills like counting and reciting the alphabet while in her care. However, she later began noticing behavioral changes, including increased aggression.

The mother told the newspaper that witnesses described seeing something “not normal” at the park and accused Buhler of physically harming the child after an apparent accident during potty training.

“My daughter pooped her pants,” the mother told the Sacramento Bee. “Sue [Buhler] was p—ed off that she pooped her pants.”

The father, who reviewed the recorded footage, said Buhler “raised her hand above her head and had significant force coming down on my baby’s sweet face.”

Investigators also said Buhler advertised child care services on multiple platforms and are urging anyone who may have used her services to come forward.

According to the Sacramento Bee, police are also re-examining a 2023 incident involving a child reportedly injured while in her care.

“This behavior is not acceptable in Lincoln,” police spokesperson Capt. Zach Eaton told KCRA, adding that detectives will pursue the case fully.

Buhler was released from jail the same day, records show. The investigation remains ongoing.

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle is dumping heavy rainfall across the Top End triggering flood warnings, as it moves west towards the Kimberley today.
The severe tropical cyclone made landfall in the Northern Territoryas a category 3 system early on Sunday bringing with it wind gusts of up to 185km/h after moving across Queensland on Friday.

The weather system, now downgraded to a tropical low, unleashed significant rainfall across various regions yesterday and throughout the night, with some areas experiencing up to 200mm, as reported by the Bureau of Meteorology.

Adelaide River was drenched with 197mm, while the Central Plateau saw 170mm, and Howley Creek recorded 166mm of rainfall.

“We have issued major flood warnings for the Upper Adelaide River, Daly River, Katherine, and Waterhouse Rivers,” stated Bureau meteorologist Ilana Cherny.

“Although the rainfall is expected to subside, flooding effects are anticipated to continue into the upcoming week.”

Today, Narelle is predicted to traverse the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf, heading towards the Northern Kimberley.

Forecasters expect it to continue dumping heavy rain across that region into tomorrow before it moves offshore of the west Kimberley coast where it could restrengthen into a tropical cyclone by Wednesday.

“It is a high chance of redeveloping into a tropical cyclone by early Wednesday morning,” Cherny said.

This would place it north of the Pilbara coast and moving west southwest.

A tropical cyclone warning has been issued for the area from Mitchell Plateau to the Western Australia and Northern Territory border, with a watch area from Beagle Bay to Mitchell Plateau.

While it is likely to remain mostly offshore, it could cause large waves, squally showers and gale force winds along the Pilbara coast.

After Thursday, the path of the system becomes more difficult to predict.

“There is a possibility that the system will directly impact Perth during next weekend, however, models are currently showing a range of different scenarios,” Cherny said.

9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

The idiom ‘tip of the iceberg’ means the small part of a larger situation or problem that remains hidden. Only a fraction of the whole is visible when an iceberg is floating free in the ocean. Sometimes, less than ten per cent of the iceberg is discernible above the waterline, while the rest is hidden below the surface in the ocean’s depths. Think about that: ninety per cent of the iceberg is invisible. When a sinner turns to God, the attention is often on receiving just like the tip of the iceberg. The larger part of the iceberg, the root of forgiveness for his past sins, which are his sinfulness, also called inbred sin, lies unseen within his heart. But as the erstwhile sinner continues walking with God, he becomes conscious of this sin, longing for its removal. Sanctification is the removal and total destruction of the inner sin (or the body of sin). Today’s passage states that Jesus suffered outside Jerusalem’s gates at Calvary to secure our sanctification. Earlier in the passage, there are admonitions for believers to reject strange teachings that contradict sound doctrine. It stresses the importance of the state of the heart, and that the heart (or soul) is as healthy as the food it feeds on, which is the word of God.

A cardinal message in this passage is the importance of holiness for which Jesus Christ shed His blood. Holiness or sanctification – being made holy and set apart for divine service – cost Jesus His life in a once-and-for-all sacrifice for all humanity. Although the offer is open to all, it takes a personal decision and deliberate effort to take full advantage of that divine provision. Anyone desiring to be sanctified must have been saved from sins. It is believers, not sinners, who are in danger of abandoning sound doctrine for false teachings. Having accepted Jesus Christ as personal Saviour and Lord, the believer is instructed to take a further step – “go forth therefore unto him” (Hebrews 13:13) for a second work of grace: sanctification. We confidently reach out to Jesus because He is faithful, loving, and willing to pardon our sins and purge our hearts. We exercise the same faith by which we were saved.

Going to Jesus will cost us something – we shall share in the pain of His rejection and disdain by the world and other forms of persecution. We shall also consecrate and give up certain things that may be lawful but not expedient or helpful to our faith. God demands holiness in us, as His children (1 Peter 1:14-16). A lifestyle of holiness glorifies Him in this world because it sets us apart from others. Holiness gives us access to the throne of grace, authority with God, and power over the enemy.

ATLANTA (AP) — In response to President Donald Trump’s directive, an increased number of federal immigration officers are being dispatched to U.S. airports. Their presence aims to bolster the Transportation Security Administration amid the ongoing government shutdown, which has resulted in extended wait times at security checkpoints nationwide.

Under normal circumstances, federal officers, including those from Customs and Border Protection, are stationed at international airports to manage incoming travelers, while Homeland Security Investigations agents address criminal activities related to smuggling, trafficking, and fraud. However, what sets the current situation apart is their noticeable role at TSA security checkpoints.

This deployment on Monday follows a period where hundreds of thousands of Homeland Security employees, encompassing TSA agents, the U.S. Secret Service, and the Coast Guard, have been operating without pay. The lapse in Congressional approval for DHS funding last month has led many TSA workers to call in sick or resign due to financial burdens. Consequently, some airports have intermittently shut down checkpoints, causing significant fluctuations in wait times for passengers.

The Trump administration announced on Sunday its intention to send federal immigration officers to major airports experiencing the most severe delays. Lauren Bis, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, mentioned this would involve “hundreds” of ICE officers, though she refrained from specifying all airport locations for security reasons.

There are concerns that deploying federal immigration agents could heighten existing tensions.

“This latest threat of ICE invasion at the airports is another distraction from solutions that protect Americans,” a coalition of unions representing flight attendants and other workers — including the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers — said in a Sunday statement. Transportation security officers “can’t simply be replaced” by federal immigration officers, they noted, adding that ICE’s presence and potential attempts to question passengers about immigration status may also “distract them from ensuring airport security.”

The unions called for TSA workers to be paid immediately.

Trump said on Sunday that he would order federal immigration agents to airports to assist TSA by guarding exit lanes or checking passenger IDs unless Democrats agreed to fund the DHS. Funding for the department lapsed Feb. 14, as Democrats refused to fund ICE as well as Customs and Border Protection without changes to their operations in the wake of the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis.

Democrats are continuing to demand major changes to federal immigration operations — including policy changes that would require ICE officers to get a warrant from a judge before forcefully entering homes, the removal of masks and clear identifying information on uniforms.

Trump on Monday directed ICE officers not to wear face coverings in their work at airports. In a social media posted, Trump said he supports ICE officers wearing masks when dealing with “hardened criminals” but suggested it isn’t necessary “when helping our Country out of the Democrat caused MESS at the airports.”

Beyond TSA operations, New York’s LaGuardia Airport shut down following a deadly collision on the runway late Sunday. An Air Canada regional jet struck a fire truck while landing, officials said — killing the pilot and copilot while around 40 passengers and crew members were taken to area hospitals, some with serious injuries.

According to the FAA, LaGuardia is expected to remain closed until at least 2 p.m. ET on Monday. Air traffic has been diverted, and Monday morning operations also were halted at Newark Liberty International Airport in neighboring New Jersey.

The new series Dutton Ranch, helmed by executive producer and showrunner Chad Feehan of Lawmen: Bass Reeves fame, delves into the lives of these iconic Yellowstone characters as they embark on a new journey in south Texas. This new chapter unfolds after the traumatic assassination of John Dutton, portrayed by Kevin Costner, and the subsequent sale of the cherished family ranch to the Broken Rock reservation.

Set to premiere globally on Paramount+ on Friday, May 15, the first season consists of nine episodes, brought to life by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. Finn Little returns as Carter, the surrogate son of Rip and Beth, alongside a star-studded cast including Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind.

The first teaser for Dutton Ranch offers an enticing glimpse of what’s ahead. It opens with Rip discovering a dead body on their property, a scene reminiscent of his days under John Dutton’s leadership. Another moment shows Beth, visibly shaken and armed, approaching police officers. The teaser continues with a shot of Beth and Rip on their new porch, exhausted. “What a day,” Beth sighs, to which Rip replies, “Welcome to Texas,” handing her a drink.

The teaser, set against a country rendition of Eminem’s “Till I Collapse,” features a montage that includes Rip firing a gun, Beth confidently entering a meeting, Rip in a brawl, and Harris as Everett McKinney, the town’s vet. A particularly intriguing scene showcases a charged exchange between Beth and Bening’s Beulah Jackson, the shrewd and captivating leader of a major Texas ranch.

“A legacy is a beautiful thing,” says Beth to Beulah. “But only if it survives.” The two women stare each other down before another series of explosive images flashes on the screen, ending with Rip and Beth slow-motion walking away from a trailer on fire.

On Monday, a CNN anchor delivered unexpected news, declaring her departure at the week’s end.

Rahel Solomon, the host of Early Start, shared this personal announcement at the close of her usual 5 a.m. broadcast.

“I’ve decided this will be my last week at CNN,” Solomon revealed, hinting at future plans with enthusiasm. “I’m really excited about this next chapter,” she added during her sign-off.

The official Early Start account on platform X quickly shared the announcement with its audience.

“Thank you to the team at Early Start,” Solomon expressed. “And to the larger CNN team – I’ll be cheering you on and look forward to watching.”

Solomon, 37, said Friday would be her last show. She did not share any other plans.

‘So this is truly not goodbye, but see you soon,’ the correspondent said.

The 37-year-old recently returned from six months of maternity leave in December. She was initially tapped to host ‘Early Start’ the March before.

Solomon began the stint after roughly three years at the network. She joined CNN from CNBC in 2022 after spells with Colorado and Philadelphia’s CBS affiliates.

She married Philadelphia-based lawyer Marcel S. Pratt in July 2024. The two welcomed a baby girl the following year. Solomon was then out for six months starting in June.

Solomon’s fellow staffers were said to be ‘supportive’ of her decision to leave, the Daily Mail learned.

The decision comes just three months on from her return to the air.

Solomon has yet to announce her next professional step.

The Daily Mail has approached CNN for comment.

The network’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, is currently in the process of being sold to Paramount for more than $100billion.

Journalists are bucking at the prospect of coming under the purview of Paramount’s Trump-friendly CEO, David Ellison, sources told Status when the deal was agreed upon in February.

Ellison went on to insist this month that CNN’s ‘editorial independence’ will be ‘maintained’ if and when the merger is federally approved while speaking to Warner execs on the studio’s lot in Burbank.

Several have speculated that the merger would mean an also-merged CNN and CBS News. 

CNN, meanwhile, is recording record low viewership during the day and primetime, according to Nielsen.

Hosts such as Solomon – and even fixtures like Wolf Blitzer and Abby Phillip – have failed to move the needle. 

Worsening the waning linear ratings are constant barbs from the administration. 

Donald Trump said back in December of CNN parent Warner: ‘I don’t think the people that are running that company right now and running CNN – which is a very dishonest group of people – I don’t think that should be allowed to continue.

‘I think CNN should be sold along with everything,’ he added at the time.

CNN star Anderson Cooper stepped away from his longtime second gig at 60 Minutes on CBS earlier this year before Paramount had its bid for Warner accepted.

Several other journalists have left the network since Ellison was named CEO over the summer. 

As was the case with the Paramount-Skydance merger last year, the $111billion acquisition of Warner still requires regulatory approval.

Anna Kournikova, 44, Makes Rare Public Appearance After Welcoming Fourth Child

Former tennis star Anna Kournikova was recently seen enjoying some leisure time in Miami, just three months after welcoming her fourth child.

The 44-year-old and her longtime partner, singer Enrique Iglesias, became parents once again with the arrival of their son, Romeo, in December.

Last week, the couple disclosed both the name and gender of their latest addition, having taken some time away from the public eye to settle into life as a family of six.

During her Miami outing, the retired tennis player opted for a relaxed look, showcasing her toned legs in black athletic shorts.

Kournikova went makeup-free and sported a loose white T-shirt paired with sliders as she wandered around the waterpark. She was seen carrying a large green tote from Turnberry Isle Country Club, which is conveniently located near Tidal Cove.

The waterpark, which can cost between $59 and $300 for a day’s entry, boasts six fun-filled slides, as well as a lazy river, a Laguna pool and an adults-only pool.

Kournikova appeared to be treating her three eldest to an entertaining day out, while leaving her little one at home. 

Iglesias is currently taking a break from touring, with the ‘Bailando’ singer not scheduled to return to the stage until May 2 when he performs in Mexico.

Kournikova gave birth to the couple’s fourth child in late December, announcing the arrival of their bundle of joy on social media.

She took to Instagram to share an adorable photo of the newborn wrapped in a blanket and wearing a hospital beanie while snuggled up next to a sloth stuffed animal. 

Shortly after the news broke, an insider close to the private couple lifted the lid on how their life has changed since the arrival of their fourth child.

‘Anna and Enrique are so excited about welcoming a fourth child to their family,’ the source was quoted as saying by People. ‘They are floating on air.

‘Anna and Enrique love family life and will spend the holidays with their family, which varies in size depending on who is around.

‘It will be busy and chaotic as always, only a bit more so, but all with joy and love.’

It emerged back in August 2025 that Kournikova was pregnant again and that she and Iglesias were expanding their family.

‘Both of them love being parents and having a fourth is the best present ever,’ the insider added. 

The Russian tennis player and the ‘Hero’ singer have been together since 2001, having met on the set of the Latin artist’s video for his hit ‘Escape’.

The couple, who have been together for over two decades, are known for being fiercely private about their personal lives. 

While Iglesias, 50, has been performing to his adoring fans on tour, tennis fans are only granted rare glimpses of Kournikova.

At the height of her fame, Kournikova was a magnet for both the paparazzi and ignorant jibes about the perceived disparity between her looks and her talent.

She was pictured for the first time in almost two years at the beginning of 2025 when she was captured using a wheelchair and wearing a protective boot while out and about, sparking an outpouring of concern.

She was pictured being pushed by her daughter at Miami’s Bal Harbour shopping centre while also wearing the boot over her foot.

In early August, however, she was spotted running her children to martial arts in Miami, allaying fears of any lingering health issues.

Kournikova burst onto the scene in the tennis world when she turned professional at the age of 14.

She got as high as eighth in the world rankings but never won a Grand Slam singles title.

But in the doubles, she enjoyed greater success once she partnered up with Martina Hingis. Together, they won the Australian Open doubles championship in 1999 and again in 2002.

She never officially confirmed that she had retired; instead, her last match was in May 2003, when she was just 21.

TOPIC: Knowledge That Edifies (Rhapsody of Realities 14 March 2026)

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge (2 Peter 1:5).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

The increased knowledge of God’s Word is so important for your consistent growth, progress, productivity and effectiveness in life. That’s why the Spirit, through the Apostle Peter, tells us to add knowledge to faith and virtue.

Interestingly, the word translated “knowledge” in the verse above is the Greek word “gnōsis,” which refers to scientific or general knowledge gained through study and information. This is not revelation knowledge but information you gather by reading, studying and learning.

So, in essence, the Lord is saying don’t be ignorant. Open your mind and be versatile. Learn a little more about everything. Some people know nothing beyond what they studied in school for exams, and they remain mentally stagnant. That’s not God’s plan for you. He wants you to be studious and increasingly knowledgeable. Knowledge empowers. Knowledge gives you an advantage.

So, decide you’re going to be deliberate in studying the Word, not an accidental glance once in a while. Set your targets; make it a lifestyle. Build your mind with useful information. Expand your horizon. This doesn’t mean keeping up with the news and saturating your life with the lies, deceit and fear peddled by the world’s media. Rather, fill your heart and your mind with knowledge that edifies and strengthens your faith. That’s the kind of knowledge to add to your life.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the knowledge of your Word that fills my heart and by which I live triumphantly every day. Thank you for your grace and peace that are multiplied in my life as I study and meditate on your Word, causing me to be increasingly fruitful, productive and effective in life and ministry, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
