How One Woman Claims to Help Broke Men Find Wealthy Partners

A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread discussion on social media with her bold claims regarding spiritual rituals targeting wealthy men. She insists that no woman would be interested in performing such rituals on a man without financial success.

In a trending video on X (formerly known as Twitter), she asserts that the men who become subjects of her alleged rituals are invariably those with substantial financial means. These men find themselves on her radar because their girlfriends are willing to pay for these unique services.

She further elaborates that men without financial resources should consider themselves fortunate, as they’re not the targets of such spiritual bindings.

Expressing her viewpoint, she stated:

“If you’re a broke man, you don’t know what God has done for you. Who wants to lock a broke man? Nobody wants to lock you.”

As many as you can see here, they are men that have money. If it was a broke man, I would just squeeze my face. But because they are rich men, the locking is sweeting me because I know once the testimony drops, money will just enter my account.”

The woman further suggested that the financial rewards she receives from her clients make the alleged spiritual work worthwhile.

Her remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing disbelief while others debated her claims.

England Triumphs in 6-4 Thriller Against France After Defying Intense Second-Half Comeback

0

In a thrilling showdown, England managed to fend off France’s spectacular rally, emerging victorious in the World Cup third-place playoff with a score of 6-4. This marks their most impressive finish at the tournament in over six decades.

The Three Lions set the tone early, charging to a commanding 4-0 lead by halftime. This exhilarating first half featured a remarkable double from Bukayo Saka and a lightning-quick goal by Declan Rice, England’s second-fastest in World Cup history.

Yet, the match took a dramatic turn as France orchestrated an outstanding comeback at Miami Stadium. Within just 18 minutes, they struck three times, narrowing the gap and intensifying the game’s suspense.

Kylian Mbappé stole the spotlight, scoring twice to become the top goalscorer in World Cup history, surpassing Argentina’s Lionel Messi in the prestigious Golden Boot race, awarded to the tournament’s highest scorer.

In response to England and France’s semi-final losses to Argentina and Spain, respectively, both teams opted for major line-up overhauls. England’s coach, Thomas Tuchel, made the strategic call to rest key players like captain Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham. This move paid off handsomely, as the alternative squad members seized the moment, particularly shining in the first half.

Stand-in captain Rice opened the scoring after just three minutes, intercepting a sloppy pass from Désiré Doué before firing home from outside the box. It was England’s second-fastest goal in World Cup history.

Ezri Konsa doubled England’s lead with a glancing header from a corner delivered by Rice in the 18th minute.

Saka, who had a goal ruled out for offside in the 12th minute, struck twice before the break. He netted from close range in the 37th minute before adding his second in first-half stoppage time to give England a stunning 4-0 lead at the interval.

France finally found a response three minutes into the second half when star forward Mbappé finished from close range.

Bradley Barcola then reduced the deficit to two in the 54th minute, hammering the ball past England goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who started in place of Jordan Pickford.

Mbappé’s second goal in the 66th minute made him the outright leading scorer in World Cup history with 22 goals and moved him ahead of Messi in the Golden Boot standings, with 10 goals this tournament.

Messi, who is second with eight goals, will have the chance to reclaim the lead in Monday morning’s final against Spain.

England restored their two-goal cushion when Saka completed his hat-trick with an 87th-minute penalty after Djed Spence was fouled in the box.

But France struck again in the sixth minute of stoppage time through Ousmane Dembélé to make it 5-4.

Jude Bellingham then sealed the result moments later with another goal, as England prevailed in a 10-goal thriller.

It was the highest-scoring match in a third-place playoff in tournament history, surpassing France’s 6-3 victory over West Germany at the 1958 tournament.

England’s best finish since 1966 title

The third-place result is England’s best finish at a World Cup since their first and only title win in 1966. They have lost both of their previous third-place playoffs — against Italy in 1990 and Belgium in 2018.

It was a disappointing end for French coach Didier Deschamps, whose final match came after 14 years in charge.

His tenure has included his side winning a World Cup title in 2018, a runner-up finish in 2022 and three consecutive semi-final appearances.

A black French football player taking a strike

If Messi, 39, scores twice against Spain, he will reclaim the record as the World Cup’s all-time leading goalscorer. He currently has 21 goals, one behind Mbappé.

But while this is likely to be Messi’s final World Cup, Mbappé, 27, is expected to have more opportunities to add to his tally and could reclaim the record in future tournaments.

Speaking after the loss, Mbappé said: “Messi is going to score [against Spain] that’s for sure. I’m just trying to help my team win. When you score a lot of goals at the World Cup, it puts you in a certain category.”

“I would have preferred not to be the all-time top scorer and to be playing tomorrow’s match. It’s good in terms of legacy, but today it’s not the first thing on my mind.”

The match was the 33rd meeting between England and France, with the last fixture at the 2022 World Cup quarter-final, which France won 2-1.

Lionel Messi Meets Protégé Lamine Yamal in World Cup Final: A Symbolic Clash of Generations

0

This week, New York City is abuzz with a medley of performances and events. At the Radio City Music Hall, Les Miserables is proving to be a popular attraction, amid whispers that football tactician Thomas Tuchel, along with his strategy board, will make a surprise visit. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn is preparing for the arrival of music sensation Ariana Grande, while Madison Square Garden hosts rock legend Jon Bon Jovi. Over in Queens, Citi Field becomes the stage for Noah Kahan.

Carnegie Hall, located on West 57th Street, will showcase a recital by the winners of the Washington International Rachmaninoff Music Competition. Meanwhile, a vibrant rendition of The Great Gatsby is unfolding at the Broadway Theatre. On the sports front, Yankee Stadium welcomes the Los Angeles Dodgers for an exciting face-off against the New York Yankees. Theater enthusiasts can also catch the timeless Death of a Salesman at the Winter Garden Theater on Broadway.

However, the spotlight this weekend shines brightest across the Hudson River. Sunday afternoon marks the grand finale of the World Cup at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. This culminates a long and sprawling tournament spanning three vast nations, setting the stage for the 104th and final showdown of the series.

For those who cherish football, Lionel Messi stands as a legendary figure, inspiring enthusiasts worldwide as if we are all his disciples—even those who are two decades his senior. His breathtaking performances over the past twenty years have left us grateful to witness his era, filled with mesmerizing feats on the pitch.

As Messi approaches the age of 39, this World Cup match marks the end of an astonishing career. The final match bears an emotional weight, as fans grapple with the reality of bidding farewell to his extraordinary talent and prodigious skill. The world grapples with the inevitable end of seeing his magic unfold on the field.

Even amid the bleak disappointment of England’s defeat to Argentina in Wednesday’s semi-final in Atlanta, it was possible to acknowledge that Messi’s run and right-foot cross to set up the winning goal for Lautaro Martinez was a verse of poetry.

The final will come to be seen as his crowning moment if Argentina become the first team since Brazil in 1958 and 1962 to win back-to-back World Cups. Many in his home country consider him the equal to Diego Maradona but if Messi wins a second World Cup, it will elevate him to a different level.

But whether Argentina win or lose, it will be a final heavy with the symbolism of the passage of time. Messi’s reign is almost over and the man many have anointed his heir, Lamine Yamal, will be playing on the opposite side.

Messi is more than twice Yamal’s age and it will be the first time they have met on the pitch. At the final whistle, it will be Donald Trump and his stooge, Gianni Infantino, who present the World Cup trophy but it will be Messi who passes the torch.

Between Messi and Yamal, the father-son symbolism could hardly be stronger. It is captured most obviously in a picture taken of the two of them in 2007 when Messi was a shy, callow, 20-year-old who was just breaking into the Barcelona first team and Yamal was still a babe in arms.

Several other members of this Spain squad – including Dani Olmo, Gavi and Joan Garcia – also had their pictures taken with Messi as children before they would go on to become senior Barcelona players.

The photoshoot with Yamal took place in the away dressing room at Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium after Yamal’s parents, Morocco-born Mounir Nasraoui and Sheila Ebana from Equatorial Guinea, entered a raffle run by Catalan newspaper Sport where the winners would have photos taken of their baby with a Barcelona player.

Yamal’s family were among the winners and they were paired with Messi. In the shoot, Messi was pictured bathing the five-month-old Yamal and then holding him, wrapped in a towel. Now that baby boy is a young man who turned 19 last week and has been spoken about widely as the successor to Messi.

The comparisons are irresistible, partly because of the picture, partly because Yamal has followed the same route as Messi, coming up through the club’s La Masia academy and announcing his prodigious talent early. So far, Yamal is ahead of the curve Messi’s career travelled.

By his 19th birthday Messi had scored 11 first team goals and won La Liga and the Champions League. At the same stage, Yamal has already scored 56 goals, won the European Championships with Spain in 2024, won La Liga three times and the Copa del Rey once. He is setting a fearsome pace.

Is he set to become Messi’s successor as the best player on the planet? Well, Kylian Mbappe might have something to say about that. In fact, there has been talk of the torch being passed before, when Mbappe inspired France to their World Cup final victory in Russia in 2018 and, again, when he scored a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final before a penalty shoot-out defeat to Messi and Argentina.

Mbappe had also looked like the best player in this tournament – and is tied with Messi in the race for the Golden Boot on eight goals – until France were so rudely defenestrated by Spain in their semi-final in Dallas on Tuesday.

But Mbappe has never quite been able to establish himself as the undisputed new king. His club career has been bedevilled by political wrangling and he is still to win the Champions League.

That is something also missing from the CV of Harry Kane, who had such a stellar season with Bayern Munich that he had a claim to be the world’s best. Six goals in this tournament, going into last night’s third place play-off with France, has not harmed his cause.

But Yamal is a prodigy. He made his debut for Barcelona when he was 15, the youngest player ever to wear the shirt for the first team, and he can do things on the ball that take the breath away. Sometimes, he looks a couple of levels above anyone else on the pitch, which is Messi’s habitual state of grace.

Yamal tore a hamstring during a Barcelona game against Celta Vigo at the end of April and has not yet been at his scintillating best in this tournament. But he looked closer to that level in the victory over France, a victory so comprehensive that Spain are clear favourites to win the final.

The match will pit the reigning European champions against the reigning South American champions, it will pit Messi against Yamal and it will pit Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni against the man he regards as a mentor, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente. Both coaches, by the way, graduated from age group teams within the national set-up, a route England chose to ignore when they appointed Tuchel.

Spain have a very different identity to most of the sides Argentina have faced so far in this tournament. Time and again, Argentina have recovered from adversity but if they go behind against Spain, Spain will not lose their nerve as Tuchel and England did in Atlanta on Wednesday night.

Spain are a possession-based team. They have the best defence in the tournament and in Rodri, who has been playing with the same authority he had before he tore his anterior cruciate ligament playing for Manchester City in September 2024, they have the best defensive midfielder in the tournament.

Their performance against France, dominant, patient, relentless, penetrating, was a template of how they perform at their best. They keep the ball and when they lose it, they fight aggressively to retrieve it fast. They have averaged 63.7 per cent possession in their seven matches so far.

Their movement is dynamic and intricate. England showed in spells that Argentina are vulnerable in defence, particularly down the flanks and Spain have the talent to exploit that. Tuchel said it was not in England’s DNA to retain possession. Whether that is true or not, Spain are the best in the world at it.

Yamal will be hoping to deny Messi a second consecutive World Cup triumph in New Jersey

Yamal will be hoping to deny Messi a second consecutive World Cup triumph in New Jersey

They will also be up against the most cussed side in the world. If England are masters at finding ways to lose the biggest matches, Argentina have proved in this tournament that that thrive when the odds are stacked against them. Time and again – against Cape Verde, against Egypt, against Switzerland and against England – they have found a way to win when the match seemed to be swinging away from them.

They can be a dogged, spiteful, unpleasant force, typified by Enzo Fernandez, who often plays with the malevolent energy of a reconstructed thug. They give no quarter. And they are utterly dedicated to the idea of providing Messi with the vehicle to take him to a second World Cup triumph.

‘For the Malvinas, for Diego and for Leo’s last one,’ the blue and white hordes chant at Argentina’s games. Only 90 minutes of Messi’s World Cup career remain. Only 90 minutes until he claims a second World Cup trophy or retires from the international game with one. Only 90 minutes until he passes the torch and one, from all his sons, reaches out to take it.

Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel Tie the Knot After 3 Years

Matty Healy has stepped into a new chapter of his life, embracing marriage with his partner, Gabbriette Bechtel. Reports confirm that the couple recently exchanged vows.

On Saturday, July 18, renowned entertainment outlets JustJared and Extra featured snapshots of the touching moment when Healy, aged 37, and Bechtel, 28, shared rings at the illustrious Castillo del Lago in the Hollywood Hills. This captivating venue, once home to the iconic Madonna from 1993 to 1997, gained fame as the setting of the 1963 horror classic House of the Damned.

In the photos, Healy cut a striking figure in a sleek black tuxedo, while Bechtel embodied bridal grace in a classic white gown, complete with a flowing veil. The couple’s tender exchange concluded with a passionate dip and kiss, as they sealed their vows with affection.

Adding star power to their wedding, JustJared disclosed a guest list brimming with celebrities. Among those in attendance were Charli XCX and her spouse, The 1975’s own band member George Daniel, alongside influencers Anastasia Karanikolaou and Devon Lee Carlson, as well as model Quenlin Blackwell.

Feature Matty Healy and Fiancee Gabbriette Bechtel Relationship Timeline

The love story of Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel has been brewing over several years. Bechtel, in her 2024 feature for HommeGirls magazine, recounted their journey. The pair longed to meet for four years before finally crossing paths. “He came to L.A., and we’ve been in love ever since,” Bechtel shared, expressing the enduring nature of their connection.

Us Weekly has reached out to Bechtel’s spokesperson for comment.

The reported nuptials followed just two weeks after Healy’s ex, Taylor Swift, tied the knot with NFL star Travis Kelce in a star-studded ceremony at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on July 3. (Another of Healy’s ex-girlfriends, Gabriella Brooks, attended Swift and Kelce’s wedding with fiancé Liam Hemsworth.)

The 1975 frontman and the model went public with their relationship in September 2023. At the time, the couple were spotted kissing while out in New York City.

In May 2024, Bechtel shared a rare glimpse into her romance with Healy, explaining the roots of their connection.

“I think that we just both enjoy good food, honestly,” she told E! News at the time. “He’s taught me a lot about food.”

Bechtel added that the pair “have the same taste in music” and offered some insight into their typical date night.

“The last thing I did was a really good kale salad with pine nuts,” she said of a meal she had recently cooked for Healy. “Parmesan, sexy little skirt steak and I did potato gratin.”

The following month, Bechtel and Healy sparked engagement rumors when she posted a series of Instagram Story photos showing off a large black diamond ring on her left hand.

“MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT,” Bechtel captioned one of the pictures, referencing Charli XCX’s Brat album. (Charli got engaged to The 1975’s drummer, Daniel, in November 2023, and Bechtel’s photos appeared to be taken during Charli’s Brooklyn concert.)

Matty-Healy-s-Dating-History--Taylor-Swift-200

The 1975’s Matty Healy has dated several A-listers over the years. Healy reconnected with Taylor Swift following her April 2023 split from Joe Alwyn, nine years after the singers were initially linked in 2014. “They’re looking to give things a second chance,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2023 of Healy and Swift. […]

Although Healy did not comment on the speculation at the time, he reposted Bechtel’s Instagram Story.

Healy’s mother, Denise Welch, ultimately confirmed the engagement during a June 2024 episode of ITV’s Loose Women.

“I woke up this morning to the fact that they put it on Instagram,” she said. “Instagram official! He’s got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel, Gabbriette she’s known as.”

Welch noted that Healy procured a custom-made “black diamond” ring for Bechtel.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled,” she continued. “She’s from Los Angeles, she’s absolutely gorgeous. She does have a [pet] rat. … Anyway, we couldn’t be happier. She is everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law, and so I’m thrilled.”

Taylor Swift and The 1975 Singer Matty Healy s Relationship Timeline 471

Taylor Swift moved on with Matty Healy following her split from Joe Alwyn, but the duo’s relationship fizzled out as quickly as it began. Swift dated Alwyn for six years before Us Weekly confirmed their breakup in April 2023. One month later, the pop star was linked to Healy, the lead singer of The 1975. […]

In July 2024, Bechtel hinted at her plans to start a family with Healy in the future.

“When I have kids, it’s going to be: dinner every night — no phones — to celebrate the smaller things and recognize people’s happiness,” she told British Vogue at the time.

Bechtel also gushed over Healy after receiving a phone call from him during her interview.

“I love being in love,” she raved. “When I thought that I was in love before it was just me being a person of service to somebody else.”

Prior to his relationship with Bechtel, Healy made headlines for his whirlwind romance with Swift in 2023. He was also previously linked to Halsey in 2015, Brooks from 2015 to 2019 and FKA Twigs from 2020 to 2022.

Sabrina Ionescu’s Recent Performances Signal Bright Future for Liberty

0

INDIANAPOLIS — Just a few short weeks ago, Liberty standout Sabrina Ionescu seemed far from her usual form.

Early challenges plagued her as she attempted to bounce back from injuries that had kept her on the sidelines for the majority of the first five weeks this season.

Despite speculation, Ionescu dismissed suggestions that her persistent back discomfort was affecting her performance.

In one particularly challenging game, head coach Chris DeMarco opted to sit Ionescu during the closing minutes of their defeat in Los Angeles.

However, those concerns surrounding Ionescu have now faded into the background.

She entered Saturday enjoying the best four-game stretch of her season, averaging 21.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.8 steals.

But Ionescu didn’t care to talk about her own glowing performance as of late after Saturday’s shootaround.

“I’m just worried about winning and finding ways to impact the team in positive ways,” Ionescu said. “Some have translated to wins, others haven’t.”

The Liberty have dropped four straight games after Saturday’s 108-88 loss to the Fever in which Ionescu scored 12 points. Ionescu described the past few weeks as a “rocky process.”

She knew she’d find her rhythm at some point.

But the inconsistent showings by the Liberty are somewhat concerning for a team with so much potential.

“We’re really mature about it,” Ionescu said. “It really hasn’t been too frustrating. Every team goes through it. Everyone understands. … During the process, kind of when you’re in it, it sucks but I think everyone has a really good mindset of knowing it’ll pay off for us in the long run.”

Women’s National Basketball Players Association leaders are scheduled to meet with the league, including commissioner Cathy Engelbert, next week to address the increasing online harassment players have been experiencing in recent weeks.

WNBPA vice president Breanna Stewart said the union’s executive committee has been invited to attend the meeting.

Stewart wasn’t sure what exactly led to the meeting, but is “happy that it is” happening.

“Whether it’s just messaging points of how we can continue to tell or influence our teammates to get through situations like this,” Stewart said. “It’s definitely necessary to have it as an open dialogue. I think that these are growing pains of really having a bigger reach and bigger platform and just kind of giving people guidance on what they should do and how to continue to keep yourself or your family safe.”

This week, Aces guard Chelsea Gray shared a screenshot of a vile Instagram direct message she received that included a racial slur.

“People act like we just make this s–t up,” she wrote. “And the audacity to tell us as athletes to ‘shut up and dribble.’ ”

Heartwarming Reunion: Miles for Military Unites Airman with Family in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, Ga. — One airman’s long-held wish recently took flight, thanks to the commendable efforts of a military-focused charity. Miles for Military fulfilled U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Crystal Boyd’s dream of reuniting with her loved ones at their family gathering.

Boyd, stationed in California, faced a three-year absence from her tight-knit family’s annual reunion, longing for the chance to reconnect amidst her service commitments.

However, on a memorable Saturday, Miles for Military transformed that longing into reality. This imaginative nonprofit allows active-duty service members to earn flights through volunteering at a charity of their choice, effectively bridging the gap between distance and desire.

This year’s reunion held special significance as it marked the 50th such gathering for Boyd’s family, with an impressive turnout of nearly 250 relatives and friends expected to join in the celebration.

To date, Miles for Military has successfully transported 1,000 service members like Boyd back to their homes, with the ambitious aim of reaching 5,000 completed flights by 2026, illustrating their unwavering dedication to supporting our military heroes.

Top 5 Highest Grossing Films of All Time When Adjusted for Inflation

0

Surveying the all-time highest-grossing films in the domestic box office reveals a distinctly modern era. With just one exception, the top ten are all 21st-century releases, a testament to contemporary cinema trends. Notably, only two films predate 2015, while “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Top Gun: Maverick” have already cemented their status as box office giants of the 2020s. This list’s reflection of current high-ticket prices and the appeal of family-friendly blockbusters doesn’t fully capture cinematic popularity throughout history.

To grasp a more thorough picture, one must consider the chart of all-time domestic box office hits when adjusted for inflation. This metric provides an insightful look at films that have truly captivated North American audiences. The top five, listed here from lowest to highest-grossing, represent the pinnacle of cinema’s impact. Their box office success and impressive attendance numbers highlight stories that have resonated deeply, shaped by pre-streaming release strategies that created enduring legends.

By examining this inflation-adjusted list, a broader spectrum of American cinematic history comes into view. Unlike the predominantly 21st-century-focused chart, this list offers deeper insights into the evolution and timeless nature of influential films.

5. Titanic

Presently, nine out of the ten top films, when inflation is factored in, were released before 1985. This pattern underscores several influences, including the sheer volume of earlier cinema-goers and the bygone era of regular re-releases (a now-obsolete practice). The most recent entry from this earlier period is James Cameron’s epic “Titanic.” The film’s grand scale and dramatic storytelling struck a global chord, with inflation-adjusted earnings standing at an impressive $1,270,101,626, nearly as formidable as the iceberg encountered by the storied vessel.

Echoing the journey of many of its top-ten peers, “Titanic” leveraged a few re-releases to boost its domestic revenue by around $73 million, complementing its initial $600 million blockbuster performance. The film’s legendary box office run—spanning over three months at the top—is a testament to its visual marvels and compelling narrative that repeatedly drew audiences back to theaters, ensuring its place in history.

It wasn’t an easy road to get this movie out the door, as anyone who experienced the various bizarre things that happened on the “Titanic” set can attest. However, all that turmoil produced a box office juggernaut that stands alongside the biggest movies ever.

4. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Let’s not beat around the bush: the titular alien star of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” is a little freaky looking. Devoid of context, this beast looks like something from a horror movie rather than the plucky lead of a family feature. However, E.T.’s strange and potentially unsettling design certainly didn’t repel audiences from checking out this 1982 Steven Spielberg directorial effort. On the contrary, “E.T.” was a box office sensation that became the biggest film of all time domestically for over a decade. The combination of moving pathos, a charming alien/human friendship, and soaring moments (like those bikes ascending into the sky) made “E.T.” a can’t miss proposition.

It didn’t hurt that this was also one dynamite motion picture, as evidenced by being one of only 16 near-perfect sci-fi movies according to Metacritic. The sheer scale of how popular “E.T.” was theatrically, though, is truly felt when adjusting its box office numbers for inflation. Through this lens, it’s revealed that “E.T.” grossed $1.329,174,791 billion domestically. Steven Spielberg is no stranger to helming box office hits, with even his summer 2026 blockbuster “Disclosure Day” emerging as a triumph.

However, combining some of his greatest fascinations (broken families, aliens and humans colliding, children navigating darker worlds bigger than themselves) with this particular story produced an especially lucrative box office smash for the ages. All that for a movie starring a creepy-looking intergalactic critter.

3. The Sound of Music

Stephen M. Silverman’s “The Fox That Got Away: The Last Days of the Zanuck Dynasty at Twentieth Century-Fox” pull back no punches in painting how beaten and bruised 20th Century Fox was after the financial disaster of “Cleopatra.” Like a boxer on the ropes that suddenly gets a second wind, though, 20th Century Fox was about to come roaring back to life. A musical hit was waiting in the wings that would take the studio and the entire film industry by storm. That production was “The Sound of Music,” today considered a near-perfect musical.

There’s no way to overstate just how lucrative “The Sound of Music” was in its original run. One Time Magazine article from January 1966 was breathless in describing the feature’s success in every city it played in while scoring the kind of repeat viewing studio executives dream about, with the piece remarking that “The Sound of Music” had garnered “fans who claim that they have seen the movie as many as 30 times.” Unsurprisingly, all those repeat viewings and box office glories translated into a gargantuan $1,335,086,324 haul when adjusted for inflation.

Family-friendly musicals are often big business at the box office, but “The Sound of Music” was on another level. Such massive numbers couldn’t have come at a better time for the beleaguered 20th Century Fox brass.

2. Star Wars

Experiencing “Star Wars” for the first time in 1977 was nothing short of something transcendent. Director George Lucas crafted a space opera that was towering in scope and blew everything else away. With this title, the world changed forever. Inevitably, such a massively influential motion picture became a tremendous box office hit. Even when playing in just 43 theaters over its May 1977 opening weekend, “Star Wars” was an instant financial juggernaut.

Just from its 1977 theatrical run alone, “Star Wars” grossed $307.263 million domestically. To put into perspective how enormous that figure was in 1977, two years earlier “Jaws” had become the first movie ever to exceed $100 million in North America. Taking into account its other theatrical re-releases since 1977 (including a majorly lucrative run in 1997) and adjusting for inflation, “Star Wars” has grossed $1,668,979,715 domestically.  The next biggest “Star Wars” entry when adjusted for inflation, “The Force Awakens,” grossed $1,013,038,487.

In sharp contrast to the modern world where “The Mandalorian and Grogu” failed at the box office, the original “Star Wars” was a titan few films could challenge. No wonder this inaugural voyage into the galaxy far, far away is still reverberating through pop culture.

1. Gone with the Wind

In some ways, it’s fitting that “Gone with the Wind” is the biggest movie ever at the North American box office when adjusted for inflation. For one thing, the film is a distinctly American creation given its focuses on the Civil War and plantation-era Georgia. Meanwhile, the movie’s, to put it gently, troublesome racial politics echoes America’s longstanding horrors of dehumanizing people of color. Furthermore, American cinema has often been defined by its size (sometimes to a detrimental degree). A massive 238-minute epic like “Gone with the Wind” is a microcosm of the expansive motion pictures America is often associated with around the world.

All of that is to say “Gone with the Wind” has grossed $1,895,421,694 domestically when adjusted for inflation. All the films on this list have had their respective box office hauls bolstered from re-releases, and “Gone with the Wind” is the cream of the crop in this regard. The 1939 epic had seven different theatrical releases in North America just in its first 28 years of existence. Since, several more lucrative re-releases have occurred, including near annual reissues by Fathom Entertainment.

Constantly being in theaters, though, shouldn’t distract from the simple fact that “Gone with the Wind” was exceedingly popular. Even without inflation considered, it was the biggest film ever domestically until “The Sound of Music” premiered in the mid-’60s. Inevitably, this motion picture would loom large over all others.

Senator John Fetterman has called on Bernie Sanders to ‘show humility’ following the Vermont senator’s decision to support the embattled Graham Platner and the controversial candidate Abdul El-Sayed, whom Fetterman labeled as ‘pro-Hamas.’

During a Saturday appearance on Fox News, the Pennsylvania senator criticized Sanders, arguing that the 84-year-old was undermining the Democratic Party’s success with his contentious endorsements.

‘Have a little humility, Bernie,’ Fetterman urged during a conversation with Saturday in America co-host Kayleigh McEnany.

‘You’ve just elevated an individual accused of sexual misconduct in Maine, and now you’re backing a candidate who is perceived as pro-Hamas, harboring anti-American and anti-Israel sentiments,’ he continued.

Fetterman’s criticism partially stemmed from El-Sayed’s views on Israel, following his controversial claim in a CNN interview earlier this year equating the country to Hamas as equally ‘evil.’

El-Sayed, one of Sanders’ picks, is set to face Democratic candidate Haley Stevens in Michigan’s primary next month – a race that has emerged as one of the most closely watched Democratic contests of the 2026 cycle.

In April, El-Sayed told CNN: ‘Yes, killing tens of thousands of people makes you pretty damn evil. It’s not how evil is this one versus that one – Hamas: Evil, Israeli government: Evil. We can say both.’

Fetterman pointed to a new Pew Research poll released Monday that found 44 percent of American Muslims have a favorable view of Hamas, saying he ‘can’t believe’ El-Sayed has not addressed the statistic.

Is Bernie Sanders hurting the Democratic Party with his controversial endorsements?

‘That’s not someone I could ever support,’ he said. ‘These are the kind of candidates that Bernie keeps pushing. Look at the kinds of train wrecks that have been elected in New York too.’

Sanders notably backed fellow socialist and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani during his successful 2025 campaign.

Meanwhile, another of his high-profile picks, Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, dropped out of the race last week after a sexual assault allegation piled onto a series of earlier controversies.

The Democrat posted an 11-minute video to social media in which he again denied the allegations but said the ‘immense amount of weight’ he was under had become too much, forcing him to end his campaign.

Last month, Sanders defended Platner on Capitol Hill after reports surfaced that he had exchanged sexually explicit text messages with other women early in his marriage.

‘We got a housing crisis. People can’t afford healthcare, they can’t afford groceries, they can’t afford to fill up their gas tanks,’ he said, according to NBC News.

‘And I think it’s important for us to focus on the issues facing working families a little bit more than Graham Platner’s marriage.’

In his Saturday attack, Fetterman said Sanders should stop endorsing candidates for the time being and ‘recalibrate things.’

Fetterman’s latest criticism is part of a broader campaign against Sanders. Just last week, he accused the senator of ‘pushing these Communists,’ arguing the endorsements would damage the Democratic Party nationally.

On Friday, Sanders joined El-Sayed at a campaign rally in Detroit, where he took aim at the candidate’s Democratic rival, Haley Stevens, accusing her of prioritizing the ‘billionaire class,’ according to Fox News.

‘In all due respect to Haley Stevens, everybody knows that this is not an election between her and Abdul. This is an election between Abdul and the billionaire class. That is what this election is about,’ Sanders stated.

‘The billionaire class, which has already – and there are two weeks left to go in the election – has already spent $50 million against him,’ he added.

‘I want you to ask yourself a simple question: Why are the richest people in the country spending tens and tens of millions of dollars to defeat Abdul El-Sayed?’

Fetterman’s feud with El-Sayed largely centers on the Middle East, with the Pennsylvania senator accusing fellow Democrats of pandering to the party’s most vocal anti-Israel voters.

He has repeatedly insisted he is not abandoning the Democratic Party. But earlier this week, he warned he would be forced to leave if Democrats turned their backs on Israel.

‘If our party ever becomes – and just makes it official – the anti-Israel party, that’s when I would leave because that’s been a moral clarity for me,’ Fetterman shared at The Hills Nation Summit on Wednesday.

Speaking about El-Sayed, Fetterman said: 'You just pushed an accused rapist up in Maine and now you're pushing essentially a pro-Hamas candidate that's been anti-American and deeply anti-Israel'

He also noted that his ‘long-term concern has been with the Democratic Party, as I am a member of that, is that our party is going to back away and turn their back to Israel.’

During an interview with CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju earlier this year, El-Sayed was asked whether he believed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was a ‘war criminal.’

‘Absolutely,’ El-Sayed responded with no hesitation. ‘When you conduct a genocide, you’re a war criminal,’ he added.

He also criticized Stevens over her support from AIPAC, telling Raju it was ‘disastrous’ before adding: ‘You should be more interested in what’s happening in Michigan than you are interested in what’s happening in Tel Aviv.’

On Wednesday, 103 of 211 Democrats in the US House of Representatives voted against providing aid to Israel, while 10 more of their colleagues voted ‘present’ on the measure.

The Democratic Party’s split on the issue has never been more pronounced. Fetterman argued that it signaled a changing political landscape.

Meanwhile, the latest allegations against Platner were the most damaging in a string of controversies that sent his campaign into a tailspin.

He watched endorsements disappear one by one, while national Democratic groups vowed not to pour money into the race if he stayed on as the nominee.

Authorities in Michigan report a chilling incident where a woman was coaxed into visiting a bar, later driven to a parking area, where she faced savage violence, ultimately being left to perish in the brutal cold.

Rajena Linson, aged 25, faces severe charges of aggravated assault with intent to murder, as the Detroit Police Department reported on Friday. Her detention follows the grievous 2022 attack by several years.

According to officials, on January 31, 2022, Linson was driven by a companion to a bar situated in Eastpointe, Michigan, a city positioned just north of Detroit.

Upon arrival, they rendezvoused with another individual, collectively proceeding to the middle school’s parking lot on Detroit’s 15400 block of Maddelein Street, as covered by local NBC affiliate WDIV. The victim claimed to need a restroom, and upon leaving the car, Linson, alongside her accomplice, allegedly launched a brutal assault on her.

“The suspects then backed the vehicle over the victim, paused for several seconds, and drove away, leaving her severely injured in freezing temperatures,” authorities said. Detroit Police Commander Rebecca McKay said the woman remained in the temperatures around nine degrees for about six hours until she was discovered.

However, in the interim period, the vehicle that Linson was in reportedly returned to the scene, seemingly to check whether the victim was still alive.

Police responded to the scene at about 2:30 a.m., finding the victim in the school parking lot being treated by medics. She apparently had a broken jaw, a broken leg, and a hematoma to the head, and she was brought to an area hospital.

It is unclear whether another suspect has been arrested or is wanted in the case.

BOSTON (AP) — Making headlines once again, Wilyer Abreu smashed two home runs, with his second—a decisive two-run homer in the seventh inning—pushing the Boston Red Sox ahead for a thrilling 7-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. This victory not only marked the Red Sox’s 12th consecutive win but also saw Abreu notch four home runs over just two games.

Continuing his power-hitting spree, Abreu had previously hammered two home runs in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader, sealing the sweep for Boston.

Victor Mesa Jr. had a go-ahead, two-run homer and Jonny DeLuca added a solo shot for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Abreu’s shot off Garrett Cleavinger (2-3) capped a four-run inning that wiped out a 6-3 deficit. Ceddanne Rafaela had an RBI double and Masataka Yoshida had a run-scoring ground out in the inning.

Ryan Watson (1-0) pitched two innings for his first major league victory and Aroldis Chapman got the final three outs for his 21st save.

Trailing 3-2 in the fourth, the Rays jumped ahead with three runs. Mesa Jr. hit his homer into Tampa Bay’s bullpen and Yandy Díaz added an RBI single.

DeLuca’s homer over the Green Monster made it 6-3 in the seventh.

Making his second start after missing last season recovering from Tommy John surgery, Boston’s Patrick Sandoval gave up five runs in five innings.

Tampa Bay took a 2-0 edge in the second when Ryan Vilade scored on second baseman Seigler’s throwing error and Nick Furias had an RBI single, but Jahmai Jones’ two-run homer tied it in the bottom half after Andruw Monasterio correctly challenged a called 3-2 strike that would have ended the inning.

Rays starter Ian Seymour lasted just three innings, allowing three runs and two homers after giving up a career-high tying six runs in his previous start.
