Kelly Clarkson Unveils the Thrilling Inspiration Behind Her Latest Hit Single

Kelly Clarkson offers a deeper look into the story behind her latest track, “I’d Be Lyin’.”

At 44 years old, Clarkson dropped this intriguing new song on Friday, July 17. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a conversation with an enigmatic individual.

“I’d be lyin’ if I said I do / You’re hearin’ only what you’re wantin’ to / I take a shot every time you lie / I’ve never been so damn drunk in my life,” the lines convey.

During a recent discussion on her SiriusXM channel, The Kelly Clarkson Connection, Clarkson delved into the song’s underlying meaning. “The essence of ‘I’d Be Lyin’,’ stems from dialogues where despite what you articulate, the listener only hears what they wish,” she clarified. “If I simply mirrored their desires with my words, I’d be dishonest.”

Kelly Clarksons Ups Downs Through the Years Career Love Life More

Where would we be without Kelly Clarkson? From dominating the music charts to weathering a high-profile divorce and navigating the joys of first-time motherhood, she remains a force. Born on April 24, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas, her prodigious talent was unmistakable, paving her way to victory on the inaugural season of American […]

Clarkson noted that she had a specific vision for how the “anthem” would sound.

“The vibe in the verse is kind of, it’s not like Prince, but it’s definitely Prince-inspired with the staccato kind of poppiness of it,” she said. “It has a lot of attitude, and then the chorus kind of opens up into this major pop-rock vibe that is very reminiscent of a Kelly Clarkson empowerment anthem.”

She continued: “But yeah, it’s very sarcastic and it was fun as hell to make, and I like a fun, anthemic, sarcastic song.”

“I’d Be Lyin’” is Clarkson’s first single since 2025’s “Where Have You Been.” She previously credited the romance between Martin Short and Meryl Streep’s characters in Only Murders in the Building for inspiring that song.

“I’ve rarely done something like this, but I was watching Only Murders in the Building — it’s Martin Short’s face,” she shared on The Kelly Clarkson Connection at the time. “He says to Meryl Streep’s character in the show, ‘Where have you been?’ He’s, like, in awe and I was like, ‘Has there been a — has anyone written a song?’ Because the song is happy. It’s like you found something that you thought was almost basically a unicorn and did not exist.”

From emotional confessions to dance-floor anthems, this summer’s most anticipated albums promise something for every mood. The song references Steve Martin’s 2009 romantic comedy It’s Complicated, which also stars Streep, 77.

While Clarkson returns her focus to music, she’s preparing for the end of her daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. She confirmed in February that the series will end after its seventh season, telling fans via Instagram that it was “not an easy decision.”

“This isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time… you never know where I might show up next,” she added at the time. “But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”

Earlier this month, Clarkson celebrated the show’s 11 Daytime Emmy nominations, writing via Instagram, “Thank y’all so much! I’m so stoked for our whole team and feeling very blessed ❤️.”

Kim Kardashian Addresses Vacation Photo Controversy Amid Grandma MJ’s Passing

Kim Kardashian recently found herself addressing questions from followers after an Instagram post featuring vacation photos was shared almost simultaneously with the news of her grandmother’s passing.

To clear the air, Kim explained in the comments of her Thursday post, “This post was scheduled a few days ago before we lost MJ, so its timing coincided with her passing.” This response came as a relief to her bewildered fans.

Kim continued, sharing her heartfelt sentiments, “I’ve been by my mom and grandma’s side this past week, and my heart is fully committed to my family during this time. We love and miss her so profoundly, and in the coming days, we will concentrate on honoring her wonderful life 🕊️🤍.”

The sad news was announced on Thursday when Kris Jenner shared that her beloved mom, Mary Jo “MJ,” had passed away at the age of 91.

In a heartfelt tribute posted on Instagram, the “Kardashians” star expressed, “Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ. 😞💔,” capturing the depth of her loss in those few poignant words.

However, just minutes after Jenner’s post, the Skims co-founder shared a carousel of photos from her recent lakeside vacation with her children, sister Khloé and boyfriend Lewis Hamilton.

Fans immediately took to the comments section to call out the reality star for her “unfortunate” timed upload.

“Didn’t MJ just die and you posting this? WOW,” one wrote. “Girl, what about your grandma!?” another questioned.

A third added, “Didn’t your grandmama just pass? This couldn’t wait to the weekend 😕”

But other fans defended Kardashian, noting that she must have a scheduled content calendar planned for weeks.

“Do you guys really think she would post this intentionally at the same time as the news of her grandma passing? It’s clearly a scheduled post. Get a grip,” one defender said.

“Why can’t she post? Scheduled or unscheduled? You people are so strange,” another penned.

The “American Horror Story” actress ultimately posted her own tribute to her grandma on Thursday after her vacation snaps went up.

“My sweet Grandma MJ, my best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin… You taught all of us the importance of family, and those values are something we’ll carry with us forever!!!!!” she wrote alongside a carousel of snaps of them together through the years.

“You were the woman who showed me what it meant to be a hardworking businesswoman. You gave me my very first job at your store in San Diego and taught me lessons about work ethic, strength, and confidence that I’ve carried with me ever since,” the 45-year-old continued.

“You always believed in me, championed me, and were my safe place. You truly were the matriarch of our family, and your love is woven into all of us. I know you’re at peace now. Give Papa Harry, Aunt Karen, and my dad a hug for me. You will always be a part of me, I love you soooooo much and I will miss you forever and ever. 🤍 YOU ARE THE BEST OF US!!!”

  • Japan Upholds Male-Only 1,500-Year-Old Imperial Lineage

    0

In a historic move, Japan’s legislative body has cemented the tradition of male-only succession to the imperial throne, a practice rooted some 1,500 years in history.

This decision was formalized on Friday with a vote to amend the Imperial House Law from the 1800s, despite cautions from scholars that restricting heirship to exclusively male descendants could accelerate the demise of Japan’s already waning and greying imperial lineage, as reported by the Associated Press.

In response to the decreasing pool of potential future emperors, the updated law permits the adoption of distant male relatives into royalty to ensure a line of male successors. Nevertheless, the stringent rule that heirs must possess royal lineage persists. Additionally, these amendments will allow princesses who marry commoners to maintain their royal status.

Parliament’s decision has sparked discussions as a significant portion of the Japanese populace advocated for Princess Aiko, the 24-year-old daughter of Emperor Naruhito, to ascend the throne — a notion now rendered unachievable.

“The emperor is a symbolic figure, and I don’t see why women cannot serve in the role,” Junichiro Tsujimaru, a 78-year-old sushi chain founder, told the AP.

Under current law, the 66-year-old emperor’s younger brother is next in line. After that, his 19-year-old nephew, Prince Hisahito, will inherit the throne, and then the emperor’s 90-year-old uncle.

Hisahito is the only boy to be born in four decades, and only five of the 16 adults in the imperial family are men.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and other conservatives say the male bloodline is the source of the emperor’s authority and legitimacy.

“It’s a declaration to prevent female monarchs … and to defend the male-lineage at all costs,” Hideya Kawanishi, a Nagoya University expert on monarchy, told the AP. “They cannot say it’s male chauvinism, so they call it tradition.”

Chizuko Ueno, a prominent feminist and sociologist, recently suggested it was ironic that Japan’s first female prime minister was the one to ensure male-only succession.

Ueno said the new rules “treat male royals as stallions and put female royals under pressure as ‘childbearing machines’ to produce male offspring.”

Japan has had eight empresses descended from the male line in its centuries-long history as a hereditary monarchy. The last woman to reign was Empress Go-Sakuramachi, who sat on the throne from 1762 until 1771, when she abdicated in favor of her nephew.

Female eligibility for the throne was first eliminated in 1890 under the original Imperial House Law.

That change was carried over into the modern Imperial House Law, enacted in 1947, the same year Japan’s new constitution stripped the emperor of governing authority after the country’s defeat in World War II.

Like Britain’s royal family, Japan’s imperial family remains an important national symbol.

Melissa Gilbert Departs ‘When Calls the Heart’ Following Timothy Busfield Controversy

    0

Melissa Gilbert has announced her departure from the Hallmark Channel’s beloved series “When Calls the Heart,” amid swirling controversy surrounding her husband, Timothy Busfield, who is currently facing child sex abuse allegations.

In a candid Instagram post shared on Thursday, the seasoned actress addressed the mounting curiosity from fans. “Many people have asked if I will be returning to ‘When Calls the Heart’ this coming season,” she revealed to her followers.

“The answer to that is no, I am not,” Gilbert confirmed, leaving little room for speculation among her dedicated audience.

Although Gilbert, who is now 62, attributed her exit to “budget issues,” the timing has certainly raised eyebrows within the entertainment community.

Despite the unexpected twist, Gilbert offered her well-wishes to her former castmates, expressing her hopes for “a happy and successful Season 14,” showcasing her grace amid personal and professional upheaval.

In her caption, Gilbert said she’s “eternally grateful” to creator Michael Landon Jr. for giving her the opportunity to play Georgie McGill.

“It was a lovely couple of seasons but it’s time to say farewell,” she wrote. “When one door closes, another one opens.”

Gilbert added, “Looking forward to whatever comes next.”

Hallmark Channel said in a statement to People, “We can confirm that Melissa’s storyline on ‘When Calls the Heart’ concluded in season 13. We adore Melissa and are always grateful when we get to work with her.”

Page Six has reached out to the Hallmark Channel for comment.

Gilbert joined “When Calls the Heart” for Season 12 in 2025 as a guest star, before returning for the following season. She appeared in seven episodes total.

Her character, Georgie, was Jack Wagner’s Judge Bill Avery’s love interest.

In January, Gilbert’s husband was arrested on charges of child abuse and criminal sexual contact of a minor over allegedly inappropriately touching two 7-year-old actors on set of the Fox series “The Cleaning Lady.”

Busfield, 69, vehemently denied the “horrible” allegations, telling TMZ that he “did not do anything to those little boys.”

In February, the “Thirtysomething” actor was officially charged with four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child under the age of 13.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Despite the allegations, Gilbert has remained by her husband’s side and attended one of his court hearings in January.

In April, she insisted her husband is “the last person in the world who would hurt a child.”

“Our life as we knew it is done. We are grieving what we had. All of our plans, all of our dreams, all of our ideas, all of our projects,” she said during a Good Morning America” interview.

Gilbert also shared she’s “100% confident” Busfield will be exonerated.

Busfield’s trial is set to begin in May 2027.

$2.7 Million Lost in Two Weeks by Sixteen Australians: The Costly Consequence of a Stock Tip

    0

In a troubling trend, sixteen Australians have collectively been swindled out of over $2.7 million in just the past fortnight. This financial blow is largely attributed to a surge in “pump and dump” scams, where scammers impersonate well-known financial experts to ensnare unsuspecting victims.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has stepped up its warnings, advising citizens to exercise heightened scrutiny when receiving investment advice via social media platforms or messaging apps like WhatsApp.

These fraudsters cunningly exploit the identities of esteemed finance professionals and celebrities, enticing individuals into private messaging groups. Once they have gained trust, they bait victims with enticing stock tips, urging them to invest substantially.

Typically, in a pump and dump scheme, perpetrators orchestrate a misleading narrative to inflate an asset’s value artificially, predominantly through social media channels. Once the asset hits a peak, these scammers sell off their own holdings, igniting a price collapse.

Consequently, victims are left holding shares that plummet in value, often becoming nearly worthless compared to the initial investment they made.

While pump and dump scams have been a concern for some time, ASIC commissioner Alan Kirkland said AI is “supercharging” these types of scams.

“With AI, it’s much easier to generate a fake endorsement video from a celebrity or from a finance expert that looks like it’s the real person making a recommendation when it is in fact fake,” he told SBS News.

Kirkland said older Australians appear to be the most common targets of these scams, likely because they’re more likely to have savings.

Tom Piotrowski, NAB’s head of market insights, is among a number of high-profile industry figures whose image has been used in scams.

He told SBS News it was “heartbreaking” to see.

“When you spend so much of your time trying to communicate to people how to approach and engage in investment markets — when you participate in that journey of education — to have this sort of thing happening is incredibly heartbreaking.”

‘A stock that does actually exist’

Pump and dump scams differ from other investment scams because they can trick victims into investing in genuine shares on real financial exchanges through legitimate brokerages.

“With lots of other investment scams, they’re actually tricking you into putting money into something that doesn’t exist,” Kirkland said.

“With these types of scams, scammers are getting you to invest in a stock that does actually exist. Often it’s overseas, but they’re really thinly traded stocks, so not many people are buying and selling.

“They get you on board so they can drive up the value of the stock. They then sell out their shares. They make a lot of money, but everybody else loses out.”

According to ASIC, a recent pump and dump scheme saw a share price soar to around $15.70 before plummeting to around $1.40 afterwards.

Australians lost $837.7 million to investment scams in 2025, according to the National Anti-Scam Centre.

    What to watch for

You should be suspicious of any advertisement online that involves a celebrity or finance expert spruiking an investment. That, in itself, should be a warning sign, Kirkland said.

“If they then try and convince you to join a private forum or a private chat group on an app like WhatsApp, that is also a big red flag.”

In general, he said you should be cautious about making any investment choice based on a recommendation from somebody you’ve never met.

He suggests taking your time with investment decisions and avoiding feeling pressured into acting quickly. It’s also important to check the credentials of the person you’re dealing with and look into the investment you’re being encouraged to make.

The government’s Moneysmart website also encourages Australians to be suspicious of paid advertising of investments, any rush of influencer endorsements, unsolicited emails or messages, and a rush of commentary in forums.

Piotrowski said reputable financial experts would not approach people directly and encourage them to buy a single stock.

“Firstly, it’s illegal, but from a reputational perspective, it’s just not the sort of thing that would be done,” he said, adding that if something sounds too good to be true, it generally is.

He also suggests asking any financial adviser for their Australian Financial Services (AFS) number — a unique identifier issued by the government to businesses that provide financial services — and checking it against ASIC’s registry.

By law in Australia, people recommending specific shares or stocks, must hold an AFS with ASIC.

ASIC advises victims of scams to contact the government’s Scamwatch service and their own bank.

Revolutionary FDA-Approved Pill Unveiled to Dramatically Lower Cholesterol Levels

The Food and Drug Administration has given the green light to a groundbreaking medication known as Lipfendra, a prescription pill set to dramatically decrease cholesterol levels. The approval, announced on Thursday, marks a significant step forward in heart health management.

Pharmaceutical giant Merck is behind the innovation of Lipfendra, which harnesses the power of enlicitide to target and suppress PCSK9, a protein associated with cholesterol management. Remarkably, clinical trials indicate that Lipfendra can cut LDL cholesterol levels by as much as 60%, significantly outperforming the typical 30-50% reduction offered by standard statins.

Previously, medications targeting this pathway were only available via injection, but Merck’s upcoming release of the Lipfendra pill promises a more user-friendly, and possibly less expensive, alternative for those wary of needles.

    Who should take Lipfendra?

The typical adult with untreated high cholesterol often sees levels soar past 100. Health guidelines from the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology suggest that individuals at moderate risk for heart complications should target an LDL level below 70, whereas those at higher risk aim for levels under 55.

For patients categorized as high-risk whose cholesterol remains stubbornly high despite statin treatment, Lipfendra offers significant hope. Trials involving injectable PCSK9 inhibitors showed a notable 20% reduction in heart attacks, strokes, and mortality related to cardiovascular issues among these high-risk groups.

According to The New York Times, Merck is currently conducting a study to see if Lipfendra has the same effect, which they are confident it will.

Additionally, some patients do not respond well to statins, which can cause muscle pain, weakness and headaches as well as gastrointestinal issues. Clinical trials of Lipfendra saw no difference in side effects between the drug and a placebo, according to The New York Times.

However, one consideration is that the pill, which is a peptide drug, must be taken in the morning, 30 minutes before eating, according to The Washington Post.

    How much will Lipfendra cost?

Lipfendra’s list price will be $315 for a 30-day supply, Merck spokeswoman Julie Cunningham told The New York Times. Patients with insurance may pay less.

As to how it compares to similar product prices, injectable drugs that work the same way currently cost $500 to $600 a month.

“This is a game changer,” said Erin Michos, a cardiologist and professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, to The Washington Post. “I have a number of patients who are anxiously waiting for the oral one. They didn’t want to go on an injection. I have to give them a call and say it’s out now.”

Macon County Non-Profit Transforms Classrooms and Lives with Free School Supplies

FORSYTH, Ill. (WCIA) — Although July might seem early to focus on school supplies, for many Macon County educators, preparing for the upcoming school year is a top priority.

Based in Forsyth, the non-profit organization Sunshine School Supplies For Teachers is expanding its efforts to equip students with necessary materials.

“We’ve seen a notable increase, particularly in the number of teachers we’re supporting,” stated Crystal Hoadley, who serves as the executive director of Sunshine School Supplies.

At their inception in 2024, the organization was assisting around 200 teachers.

“Currently, we are at 525 teachers and counting,” Hoadley said.

She said that they’re a one-stop-shop for teachers to come and get everything they need for the classroom. From pens, to books, to the toys teachers put in their treasure boxes, the store has a little bit of everything.

“The student needs have grown considerably in the last couple of years to where our schools cannot provide everything that a child would need. Our teachers are trying to fill in those gaps,” Hoadley said.

Teachers in Macon, Piatt and now Moultrie and Dewitt Counties pay a one time fee of $50 at the beginning of each school year. They even have 50 spots open for teachers outside of those four counties to sign up for a membership. However, the sign-up fee is the the last time they pay for anything.

Once a month, teachers can come in, get a cart, get a clipboard, and a pencil and let the shopping begin.

It’s more than just a shopping experience. Teachers are also finding community and support from the people greeting them at the aisles.

“Most of the people that we have here volunteering are either current or retired teachers,” Hoadley shared.

This includes Wendy Jalley, the store’s Board President. However, she has also been a kindergarten teacher for almost twenty years.

“As many people know, teachers spend hundreds of dollars out of their pocket each year,” Jalley said.

But it’s deeper than just saving money.

“We have had a teacher in here with a nonverbal student. One week, she picked up a squishmallow and that squishmallow helped her student, being able to hold that and kind of calm [the student’s] anxiety, helped her to open up and actually talk for the first time,” Jalley shared.

One visit to the store at a time, they’re helping teachers stretch their budgets and giving students the tools they need to succeed.

Shocking Bodycam Footage: Two Florida Deputies Ambushed in Arrest Shooting, Says Sheriff

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A shocking incident has left two deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office wounded following a brazen ambush. The officers were in the process of arresting a man accused of a terrifying crime: holding his former girlfriend captive at gunpoint. Details provided by the sheriff’s office illuminate the harrowing situation they faced.

Recently released footage from both body cameras and drones by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office brings the violent moment into stark relief. Currently, both deputies are recovering in the hospital. Miraculously, they are conscious and communicating with loved ones, according to officials.

This alarming chain of events began when a distressed woman arrived at the sheriff’s office to report a harrowing encounter. She claimed her ex-boyfriend had forcibly confined her for hours at gunpoint. Swiftly, deputies identified the suspect as 34-year-old Christopher Dmuchowski and tracked him to a nearby residence, authorities have stated.

Utilizing a drone to gain a strategic overview of the situation beforehand, the deputies hoped to manage the arrest safely. However, Sheriff Chad Chronister recounted how the plan veered tragically off course the moment they made their move. Dmuchowski launched a violent assault on the officers.

Describing the scene captured on video, Chronister explained, “From the body cam and the drone footage, you witness the suspect thrusting his arm out of the vehicle to take aim at the deputy. He opens fire just as the deputy exits his car. There wasn’t even time to shut the door before he was met with a hail of bullets.”

A second deputy who pulled up moments later was shot before he could exit his vehicle.

“I’m hit! I’m hit!” one deputy is heard saying in the video. “I’m in my car! I got hit in the neck!”

As Dmuchowski continued firing on the second deputy, the third deputy approached from behind and opened fire.

“As he’s getting out, he sees our suspect firing on the second deputy,” Chronister said. “He opens fire, returns fire, striking the suspect multiple times.”

Both wounded deputies were airlifted to a hospital, where they remain under medical care. Dmuchowski was also transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators say Dmuchowski was a convicted felon. He was found guilty of evidence tampering in 2013.
