Rhapsody Of Realities 17 July 2026: Bring Your Body Under Subjection

Rhapsody Of Realities 17 July 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Bring Your Body Under Subjection

TOPIC: Bring Your Body Under Subjection (Rhapsody of Realities 17 July 2026)

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

Having understood that your spirit is the Most Holy Place and must take the lead, with your soul trained to follow, there’s one more vital area to address: your body. Your body doesn’t automatically align with the life of God in your spirit; it must be brought under control.

That’s why the Word says, “…present your bodies a living sacrifice…” (Romans 12:1). God has done His part in recreating your spirit but the yielding of your body, presenting it to Him as a living sacrifice, is your responsibility. The Apostle Paul gives further insight: “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection…” (1 Corinthians 9:27).

This means the body must be disciplined and trained to align with your spirit. The body has its tendencies; it responds to sensations, appetites and external stimuli. It wants to act based on what it feels. But you’re a spirit being, not a body; you live in a body. Therefore, you can’t let your senses rule you. The Bible says, “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die…” (Romans 8:13).

To live after the flesh is to be governed by the body and its impulses, but that’s not your life. You live by the Spirit, and as the concluding part of Romans 8:13 declares, “…if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” That means through the Holy Ghost, you put to death the activities of the body, override its impulses, and bring it into alignment with God’s will and purpose.

This isn’t suppression; it’s mastery. Your spirit, one with the Holy Spirit and filled with the life of God, takes charge. Your soul, renewed by the Word, agrees. Then your body is brought into obedience. This is the complete order of the Christian life: spirit, soul and body in alignment with the Word of God.

Don’t let your body dictate your life or control your responses. Whether it’s weakness, appetite, or any form of pressure; take charge from your spirit. Present your body to God. Make it serve His purpose. If you feel symptoms of sickness, declare, “No! My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; therefore, it’s immune to sickness, disease and infirmities.” Refuse to allow sickness in your body; it’s part of keeping your body aligned and yielded to God.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your life and glory in me. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and I present it as a living sacrifice, bringing it under subjection to your will and ways. I refuse to be governed by the senses or natural impulses. I walk in sync with the Spirit, aligned with your perfect will at all times, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

1 Corinthians 9:27 (AMPC)
But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].

Romans 8:12-13 (NIV)
Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. [13] For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

Galatians 5:24-25 (KJV)
And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. [25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Canadian National Faces Backlash After Slapping Teen Over Political Attire, DHS Reports

0

A recently unveiled video captures the fiery moment when a Canadian woman, embroiled in controversy for allegedly overstaying her visa, reportedly slapped a teenage girl. The altercation erupted on a New Jersey boardwalk as the woman confronted a group of friends clad in attire featuring “Trump” and “ICE” slogans. In the aftermath, she was apprehended and placed in federal immigration custody.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released this footage on Thursday through a post on the platform X. They labeled Kaitlyn Tracey, the woman in question, as a “Maple Leaf Menace,” confirming her current detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as removal proceedings are initiated.

“This illegal alien who assaulted a teenager has no business being in our country,” DHS stated emphatically.

The video depicts Tracey confronting the teen, reaching out, and delivering a slap before casually walking away without hesitation or further interaction.

According to a DHS spokesperson, Tracey entered the U.S. on April 14, 2024, with a visa that was valid until September 6, 2024. However, she remained in the country beyond the expiration date.

A Canadian woman accused of overstaying her visa was taken into ICE custody after allegedly slapping a teen over pro-Trump and ICE clothing on a New Jersey boardwalk. (U.S. Department of Homeland Security)

“She overstayed her visa and failed to depart,” the spokesperson said, adding Tracey’s name to the “nearly 70% of ICE arrests” netting illegal immigrants who have been charged with or convicted of a crime.

According to DHS, the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department facilitated a controlled transfer into ICE custody following her arrest, where she will remain pending immigration proceedings.

A man identifying himself on social media as Tracey’s husband, Matthew Geroni, disputed the allegations in an interview with NJ.com, arguing the incident had been blown out of proportion after drawing widespread attention online.

“This whole situation has been blown out of proportion and a person like Kate does not belong in any facility,” Geroni told the outlet. “My wife has never been in trouble in her entire life. She’s never had any kind of situation like this. This one little situation that was really a nothingburger when it happened has been blown so out of control by conservatives online that it has caused my wife to be put in a detention center.”

According to the probable cause affidavit obtained by News Media, the victim told police she and three friends were walking along the boardwalk when Tracey began verbally berating the group over clothing they were wearing.

The affidavit states two of the victim’s friends were wearing patriotic-colored sweatpants displaying the words “Trump” and “ICE.” Investigators allege Tracey then approached the victim and struck her once in the face and once in the body.

Officers attempted to stop Tracey, but she refused to identify herself and continued down the boardwalk, according to the affidavit.

Investigators later identified her through social media and passport information she provided when entering the United States from Canada in 2024.

Geroni also posted several emotional videos to social media after Tracey’s arrest, saying he was trying to find an immigration attorney and pleading for help.

“I need help. I don’t know what to do,” he said in one video. “I need an immigration lawyer… I need my wife.”

Geroni also said he created a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for Tracey’s legal defense and immigration costs before it was removed from the platform. Before it was taken down, the fundraiser said it had been organized by friends to help cover Tracey’s legal expenses and immigration-related costs.

In another video, Geroni claimed the campaign was removed after what he described as a coordinated mass-reporting campaign by a “Facebook group of MAGA supporters.”

A GoFundMe spokesperson disputed that claim, telling News Media the fundraiser was removed because it violated the platform’s policies.

“GoFundMe’s Terms of Service prohibit fundraisers for the legal defense of violent crimes,” the spokesperson said. “Consistent with this long-standing policy, the fundraiser was removed from the platform and fully refunded.”

The case also drew reaction on Capitol Hill after DHS released the surveillance video Thursday.

“Oh, Canada. She’s headed back your way!” Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., wrote on X. “Thank you, @SecMullinDHS!”

Francis R. Hodgson, Tracey’s attorney, declined to comment when reached by News Media. Court records show Tracey is scheduled to appear in Ocean County Superior Court on Aug. 4.

Tropical Storm Elida Threatens Southern California with Menacing Ocean Swells

0

Beach enthusiasts in Southern California might find themselves facing turbulent waters soon, as Tropical Storm Elida gains momentum. Transforming into a hurricane, the storm is set to unleash formidable ocean swells that will crash against the region’s shores.

Elida, which emerged in the middle of July, is currently whirling several hundred miles southwest of Los Cabos. Meteorologists predict that by Friday, it will escalate to a Category 1 hurricane.

Although Elida will stay far from the coast, experts caution that it will still send massive, churning waves racing towards the beaches of San Diego County.

The National Weather Service is diligently monitoring the storm as it tracks off the southern tip of Baja California. The storm is curving northwest over the Pacific, where environmental conditions are likely to enhance its rapid strengthening.

Even though Elida will not directly hit land, its increasing intensity is anticipated to significantly affect Southern California’s coast, resulting in hazardous surf conditions and tumultuous seas.

“Elida is expected to become a hurricane Thursday night or early Friday before reaching its peak intensity on Friday,” the NWS said in a social media post.

As of Thursday, Elida is carrying sustained winds of 50 mph. It will officially be classified as a Category 1 hurricane if its winds reach between 74 and 95 mph.

Storm Elida formed in the Pacific Ocean posed no threat to land Wednesday, forecasters said.

The last tropical storm to have a major impact on Southern California was Tropical Storm Hilary in August 2023. The once-in-a-generation soaking brought record-breaking rainfall, triggered widespread flash flooding, and washed out roads.

The rare tropical storm—the first to hit the region in decades—forced evacuations, stranded motorists and served as a stark reminder that even weakening Pacific hurricanes can pack a devastating punch.

Inferno Skies: Wildfire Smoke Casts Shadow Over Globe’s Biggest Soccer Stage

As wildfires rage on, a crisis brews across Canada and parts of the United States, urging residents to remain indoors. The fires are not only wreaking havoc on the environment but are also plummeting air quality, casting a shadow over regions where the FIFA World Cup final is slated for early next week.

Canadian officials report a staggering 110 fires spiraling out of control, with more than 700 additional blazes flaring in secluded locations. These fires spare major urban centers but have devastated 1.9 million hectares of land, edging closer to smaller towns and leading to evacuation orders being issued.

Houses along a road, with mountains in the distance and smoke rising from them.

The infernos have sent smoke billowing into the sky, dimming horizons in Ontario and northeastern US. Authorities in both nations have responded by canceling public gatherings and issuing health advisories to safeguard citizens.

In Toronto, the nation’s largest city, residents awoke to an eerie orange haze obscuring the skyline, a stark reminder of the fires’ reach.

In response, officials have taken drastic measures, including shutting public swimming pools, halting summer programs, and cancelling the much-anticipated FIFA Fan Festival. This cancellation coincides with the World Cup semi-final clash scheduled between England and Argentina.

On Thursday, Swiss firm IQAir said the Canadian city recorded the worst air quality of any major city in the world, beating New Delhi and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital Kinshasa.

People look out from glass windows as smoke from wildfires blankets the city.

Nearby, New York City’s air quality ranked fifth-worst in the world. Authorities there have warned residents they “may see visible smoke and hazy skies across the state and spikes in smoke-related pollution”.

The US National Weather Service said the smoke could linger into the end of the week.

“We probably haven’t seen the worst of it yet for New York City. We probably haven’t seen the worst of it yet for the Great Lakes and upstate and New England yet either,” Dan Westervelt, Lamont associate research professor at Columbia University, told Reuters news agency.

The smoke settled on the city just days before neighbouring New Jersey is scheduled to host 80,000 people at an open-air stadium for the World Cup final on Monday morning AEST.

Another 50,000 are planning to watch the game from Manhattan’s Central Park.

Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire have all experienced worsened air quality.

Smoke billows above a township.

The fires burn against the backdrop of a record-smashing North American heatwave, which has seen temperatures soar into the 40s in parts.

While significant, Canadian authorities say the current fire season has been significantly less dangerous than those that ravaged the country in 2023, when 18 million hectares burned.

Maine Shooting Incident Sparks Scrutiny on ICE’s Swift Hiring Practices

WASHINGTON – In a sweeping move to bolster its ranks, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has embarked on a large-scale recruitment drive, hiring thousands of officers. This expansion comes as part of the broader immigration enforcement strategy under the Trump administration, aiming to increase arrests and deportations significantly.

Fueled by a substantial allocation of funds from Congress — amounting to billions of dollars — ICE’s rapid growth has sparked questions about its recruitment practices. There’s a rising concern over whether new officers undergo thorough background checks. The Department of Homeland Security, however, has dismissed these apprehensions as unfounded.

Family members of an ICE officer involved in the recent shooting of a Colombian man in Maine revealed to The Associated Press that the officer grappled with severe mental health challenges since childhood. They argue that he was unsuitable to carry a badge and weapon while patrolling U.S. streets.

The specifics of how the officer, identified as David Brouillette, came to be hired remain uncertain. Nonetheless, these revelations cast a critical eye on ICE’s recruitment surge amidst the Trump administration’s vigorous immigration enforcement measures.

Let’s delve into the current hiring and training protocols implemented by the agency:

A surge in new hires at ICE

In January, Homeland Security said it had hired 12,000 new officers and agents since the hiring surge began and said thousands of those new officers were already out on the streets assisting with investigations. The number includes both deportation officers and agents for Homeland Security Investigations, a separate agency that falls under ICE.

ICE has said the majority of new hires are police and military veterans. But evidence has been mounting that applicants with questionable histories were either not fully vetted before they were brought on or were hired in spite of their past, an investigation by The Associated Press earlier this year found.

At the time, Homeland Security, ICE’s parent agency, would not answer questions about specific hiring decisions. It did say some applicants received “tentative selection letters” and offers to begin working on a temporary status before they had been subjected to full background checks.

It defended its hiring practices, saying it does rigorous vetting.

ICE’s former acting director, Todd Lyons, said during a congressional hearing in February that he was proud of the hiring campaign, which drew more than 220,000 applications.

“This expansion of a well-trained and well-vetted workforce will help further ICE’s ability to execute the president’s and secretary’s bold agenda,” he said.

The vetting process includes reviewing applicants’ criminal histories and credit scores and conducting background investigations that include interviewing prior employers and other associates, which can take weeks. ICE also promised signing bonuses of up to $50,000, advertised that college degrees were not required and lowered the age of new recruits to 18.

An internal memo, first reported by Reuters in February, told ICE supervisors that if they receive “derogatory information about a newly hired employee’s conduct” they should refer the allegations to an internal affairs unit for investigation. Such information could include the employees’ termination or forced resignations, the memo said.

The DHS inspector general last August announced plans to audit ICE’s hiring and training processes, but no findings have been released.

Applicants have to get a security clearance

Recent job advertisements for deportation officers spell out the current qualifications, including that the person must be a U.S. citizen to apply and will have to pass a background investigation and a drug test.

New deportation officers also have to take a physical fitness test and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Once hired, new deportation officers may have to serve a one-year probationary period.

According to the job advertisement, deportation officers are required to carry a firearm, which means anyone convicted of domestic violence is ruled out.

Applicants undergo a medical exam and should be prepared to possibly be polygraphed. The application cautions that any false statements on the application can translate into the job offer being pulled or, if the person has already started work, they can lose their job or go to prison.

The background investigation can include a credit check, reviews of any financial problems like failure to pay child support or taxes and a look at the person’s criminal and drug history.

Claire Trickler-McNulty, a former ICE official under the Obama, first Trump and Biden administrations, said hiring a new deportation officer is similar to any other federal hiring.

Generally, applications are reviewed by a hiring manager who decides which candidates to advance. Once someone gets a tentative offer, the agency conducts a background check.

When people are applying for jobs that involve getting a security clearance, Trickler-McNulty said, they have to disclose on their application any drug use, interactions with police, groups they’re affiliated with, mental health concerns, prior addresses and job history.

Depending on the clearance level, they’ll also ask for references that a background investigator will contact. If there’s red flag such as a DUI or a history of debt, that can trigger a deeper investigation.

“You want to make sure the person is appropriate for a public trust position,” she said.

Concerns over changes to ICE training schedule

Generally, new candidates for deportation officer positions have to go through a 50-day immigration law enforcement training program, according to the job advertisement.

Ryan Schwank, a former lawyer at ICE who was responsible for training new deportation officers, told The Associated Press that the agency reduced the overall amount of training new recruits received and reduced the testing needed to pass before graduating. Homeland Security has denied that it has removed any training requirements or lessened requirements for officers.

Trickler-McNulty said she has concerns over reports the agency shortened training as it was aiming to hire thousands of new officers. ICE officials revamped the training as part of efforts to swiftly hire and train an additional 10,000 deportation officers with an infusion of billions of dollars last summer from Congress.

At the time, the agency had about 6,500 deportation officers. That led to allegations that the department was cutting corners in an effort to get more officers in the field, which Homeland Security and ICE repeatedly denied.

In June, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the agency would be increasing the amount of training for new officers starting this month, from 42 days to 72 days.

Roommate and Boyfriend Fatally Shot Amid Heated Dispute

A Michigan resident is facing significant prison time after fatally shooting his much older partner, who was also his roommate.

On Wednesday, 21-year-old Kayvon Briscoe-Hall was found guilty of second-degree murder and possessing a firearm during a felony. The case involved the tragic death of his 63-year-old partner, Roger Willie, as confirmed by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

This fatal incident occurred at the couple’s residence on Marr Avenue in Warren, a suburb just outside Detroit, in October 2025.

Responding to a report of a shooting, police discovered Willie unresponsive, suffering from numerous gunshot wounds. Emergency responders performed life-saving efforts before transporting him to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

During Briscoe-Hall’s trial, his attorney suggested the shooting might have been justified, though a formal self-defense argument was not made, according to a courtroom report by The Macomb Daily.

“You have to determine, in that particular situation, were these actions justified, or was it intentional?” defense attorney Grace Crivello asked the jurors. “Was it a murder, or a reaction to a perceived threat?”

To hear the defendant tell it, the differences between the couple — starting with the age gap — suggested something of a power imbalance. The two started living together in 2023 after meeting on a dating app.

On the day in question, Briscoe-Hall “retreated” into the bedroom and shouted at Willie to “Get out” during an argument.

Seconds later, the victim was dead. The defendant had fired three shots; the last two bullets connected with their target.

The state, for its part, argued the final spat between the lovers was “not like any other argument,” according to the paper.

“The defendant tried to antagonize Roger, baited him, goaded him because he wanted to get his way,” assistant prosecutor Maria Panchenko told the Macomb County jury.

The prosecutor conceded the defendant’s request for the victim not to enter — but argued that was no excuse to shoot.

“It’s a shared room,” she said. “Roger didn’t listen.”

During a preliminary hearing, the state also offered another theory of the case.

The victim’s next-door neighbor testified that the defendant displayed increasing hostility toward his much older boyfriend in the months leading up to the shooting — including incidents of screaming, slamming doors, and inflicting a gash on Willie’s forehead.

In August 2025, the neighbor said he was in the backyard when he overheard Briscoe-Hall, who was home alone at the time, tell someone on the phone: “Oooooo girl, this is all going to be mine soon.”

The defendant is slated to be sentenced on Aug. 19.

DHS Moves to Re-Arrest Undocumented Immigrant Charged with Murder Following Prior Deportation and Release

0

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has officially requested that Florida authorities hand over a Bangladeshi national suspected of murdering his sister-in-law. This suspect, who had previously faced deportation under the Trump administration, reentered the U.S. illegally and was later released under the Biden administration.

Revealing the course of action, DHS informed News Media that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has filed a detainer against the suspect, Akbor Miah. Miah, who reportedly went by the alias Shahidul Islam, is wanted for federal custody following the conclusion of his state-level criminal proceedings.

According to officials at DHS, Miah initially entered the United States in 2016 during the Obama era. ICE detained him in February 2018, which led to an immigration judge issuing a final deportation order later that year.

Subsequently deported back to Bangladesh in January 2019 during the Trump administration, Miah illegally returned to the U.S.—a serious federal crime. Despite this, he was released into the country by the Biden administration as of March 19, 2022, officials reported.

Authorities found Monica Islam fatally shot in Lake County, Florida, in May 2025, according to investigative reports. Her brother-in-law, Akbor Miah, now faces charges of first-degree murder in connection with her death. (DOJ)

DHS said ICE lodged the detainer requesting Florida officials transfer Miah into federal custody after his state criminal proceedings conclude so he can face immigration enforcement following any sentence imposed in the murder case.

According to authorities, Monica Islam disappeared after leaving the Eustis convenience store where she worked alongside Miah, her brother-in-law, on May 2, 2025. Hours later, she was found dead from a gunshot wound along a road in Mount Dora.

Investigators recovered Monica Islam’s DNA from Miah’s vehicle, along with a bullet lodged in the passenger-side door and evidence the passenger window had been shattered, prosecutors said.

Officials claim Miah fled to New York after the killing before he was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and extradited back to Florida, where he faces a first-degree murder charge.

“This illegal alien from Bangladesh has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting his own sister-in-law in Florida,” DHS acting assistant secretary Lauren Bis told News Media. “He then thought he could evade justice by fleeing to the sanctuary state of New York. Thanks to our law enforcement partners, this criminal illegal alien has been arrested and is off our streets. ICE has lodged a detainer so he can never be loose in our country again.”

News Media previously reported that a Lake County grand jury indicted Miah on a charge of premeditated first-degree murder and that prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

State Attorney Bill Gladson said investigators uncovered evidence that Miah conducted numerous suspicious internet searches on the morning of the killing.

Prosecutors also allege he rented a vehicle and drove to New York after the shooting before authorities tracked him down through a joint effort involving local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Tragic Heart Emergency on Disney World’s Iconic Ride: Report

0

A recent report has unveiled a tragic incident that occurred at Walt Disney World three months ago, where a guest passed away after experiencing cardiac arrest on one of the park’s most beloved rides.

The man, aged 54 and known to have a pre-existing heart condition, encountered a heart-related emergency on April 2. He was enjoying the popular It’s a Small World boat ride in Orlando, Florida at the time, as documented by the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services in their theme park injury report.

Since its grand opening in 1971, the Florida-based theme park has been associated with approximately 70 fatalities, most of which have been attributed to existing health conditions and natural causes, according to various external estimates and media sources.

The iconic It’s a Small World boat ride attraction at Walt Disney World has been a key fixture within Fantasyland since the park opened.

The 54-year-old’s death in April marks the second parkgoer to die after riding the 10-minute gentle boat ride attraction.

A 22-year-old woman with a pre-existing health condition lost consciousness after riding It’s a Small World in Dececember 2014 and later died, according to the Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services report.

Walt Disney World did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
