Tennis Champions Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter Celebrate Nuptials Amid Wimbledon Tournament

0

In the wake of their recent Wimbledon disappointments, tennis players Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter found solace in a joyous occasion, exchanging vows in England.

The couple, whose relationship spans six years, opted for an intimate ceremony held in a Leicestershire village, close to the bride’s childhood home. This special event took place on the Sunday marking the final day of Wimbledon, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Their nuptials unfolded in the presence of close family members inside a church, followed by a celebratory gathering at a nearby pub, encapsulating a charming and personal atmosphere.

Captured in photographs leaving the ceremony, the newlyweds were enveloped in a cascade of rose petals. Boulter, age 29, was a vision in her off-the-shoulder white gown, while de Minaur, 27, looked dapper in a classic black suit, complemented by a white shirt and bow tie.

In a twist on tradition, the couple made their grand arrival together for the ceremony in a sleek black Porsche Carrera, adding a modern flair to their special day.

Their nuptials took place on the same day Jannik Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev in the men’s Wimbledon final.

The couple announced their engagement in December 2024 with a joint post on social media.

The happy occasion comes just days after disappointing performances at the All England Club. De Minaur lost in the fourth round to Italian Flavio Cobolli on July 6. Boulter was eliminated in the first round of her home slam.

In his post-match interview, de Minaur appeared dejected and discussed the mental toll difficult losses have taken on him.

“To fall short constantly, you start doubting yourself. You start doubting whether you’re going to be able to break through and kind of take it to the next step,” de Minaur told reporters.

De Minaur, the world No. 5, has never advanced past the quarterfinals of a major in his 36 appearances.

However, de Minaur said, he would use some exciting events in his personal life to get past the heartbreak.

“I’ve got some pretty big things happening soon, some stuff that I’m very excited for,” de Minaur said. I think my best way forward is to channel my focus into that, into something positive, and that should help put this in the past.”

Tragic Aircraft Crash Claims Life of Pilot Fighting Colorado Wildfire

0

GUNNISON, Colo. (AP) — A tragic incident unfolded as a firefighting aircraft crashed into a reservoir in Colorado, resulting in the pilot’s death, authorities have confirmed.

The crash was reported on Sunday, with the aircraft going down in Silver Jack Reservoir. Divers recovered the pilot’s body, as stated by the Gunnison County sheriff’s office in an online post.

The pilot, apparently the sole occupant of the aircraft, was engaged in efforts to battle the Gold Mountain Fire. This fire has been burning for two weeks and has spread to roughly 57 square miles (148 square kilometers) in southwestern Colorado. As of early Monday, containment was at 13%.

Further details about the crash have been requested from the Federal Aviation Administration via email.

This incident comes shortly after a somber gathering of wildland firefighters in Colorado to honor three colleagues who perished after being overtaken by flames near the Colorado-Utah border last week.

Many large fires are still going strong across the West. They are scattered around Colorado, Utah and New Mexico while there are wildfires in eight other states — from Alaska to Arizona.

Prolonged hot and dry conditions this week will bring fire weather concerns, the National Weather Service said.

Holly Ramsay Embraces Maternity in Stylish Red Swimsuit During Heatwave Outing with Husband Adam Peaty Amid Family Turmoil

On Sunday, Holly Ramsay, expectant and radiant, embraced her blossoming baby bump while donning a vibrant red swimsuit, as she relished the heatwave sweeping through the UK alongside her husband, the swimmer Adam Peaty.

Holly, the 26-year-old daughter of celebrated TV chef Gordon Ramsay, shared her weekend bliss with her Instagram followers, exuding happiness under the sun-drenched skies from her garden escapade.

The influencer was a picture of elegance in her striking red swimsuit, complemented perfectly by an open white linen shirt, as she basked in the delightful warmth of the day.

Later, Holly transitioned seamlessly into a chic black minidress, posing playfully with Adam, who opted for a casual look with a blue shirt paired with matching shorts.

In a sweet nod to the season, she captioned the picturesque moment with a simple yet evocative phrase: ‘sweet summer’.

The post comes hours after the Daily Mail revealed that Adam’s pregnant sister Bethany – the only member of his family to still be in contact with the couple – has now sensationally fallen out with Holly.

Not only are they no longer communicating, but this time it is Adam who is stuck in the middle, trying (and so far failing) to mend fences. Read the full story here.

Last month, Holly announced she is expecting a baby girl with the Olympian.

Holly said that she ‘can’t wait to see her husband become a girl dad’ in a sweet Father’s Day post. Adam has a son George, five, with his ex Eirianedd Munro.

Just days after revealing their joyful news, Holly wrote: ‘Happy Father’s Day ARP you are the best dad ever and I can’t wait to see you as a girl dad. Our little lady & George are so lucky to have you x we love you so much’.

In a separate tribute to her father Gordon, Holly gushed: ‘Happy Father’s Day Dad, you are the best ever and we are so lucky to have you, I love you.

‘I can’t wait to see you become a grandad.’

Meanwhile, Gordon shared his excitement of becoming a grandfather on his Instagram as he celebrated with fellow fathers. ‘Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and dads to be from your favourite soon to be grandad ! G’, he penned.

Holly announced her pregnancy alongside a snap of herself and Adam, with her growing bump on display in a Calvin Klein bralet.

She captioned the post: ‘Baby Ramsay-Peaty coming December 2026. We can’t wait to meet our baby girl.’

Gordon, 59, who shares six children with wife Tana, shared his delight at the news in the comments of Holly’s post, writing: ‘Congratulations to you both sending lots of love Dad.

‘I’m going to be a very overexcited Grandad especially this Christmas @hollyramsaypeaty @adamramsaypeaty.’

Holly’s sister Tilly also gushed that it was the ‘best news ever.’

Gordon and Tana share Megan, 27, twins Jack and Holly, 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, six, and the youngest, Jesse James, two.

Holly and Adam tied the knot in a lavish ceremony on December 27, 2025, at the historic Bath Abbey followed by a reception at Kin House in the countryside.

However, Adam has been locked in a feud with his estranged family since it was revealed in November that Adam had banned his mother Caroline and father Mark from his December wedding to Holly.

Adam’s sister Bethany was the only member of his family who attended his wedding last year, with the carer herself saying she’s divided in her loyalties between her brother and her parents.

Tom Cruise vs. Tom Cruise: The Ultimate Battle for World Survival in “Digger” Trailer

0

In June, Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled an intriguing teaser for Tom Cruise’s upcoming film, “Digger,” framing it as truly a celebration of the actor’s illustrious career. The teaser revisited some of Cruise’s iconic roles, climaxing with a fleeting glimpse of “Digger,” helmed by director Alejandro Iñárritu. Recently, the full trailer was released, offering a comprehensive introduction to the film’s narrative and showcasing Cruise’s performance, which has sparked talk of a potential Oscar win.

While Cruise already holds an honorary Oscar, the anticipation for him to earn a best actor statuette is palpable. Regardless of whether this is his year, “Digger” promises to entertain, with its dark comedic tones drawing parallels to a modern “Dr. Strangelove.” Cruise embodies Digger Rockwell, a character holding immense global influence who inadvertently causes a potentially multi-trillion dollar disaster, highlighting the stark value society places on monetary losses over human lives.

Broaching the fine line between understanding mere facts and grasping the full narrative, Digger is set on presenting himself as a hero for humanity. This film unveils a fresh side of Cruise’s talent, beyond his classic action-packed roles, emphasizing a relationship with a frail cat that stands out as a significant and memorable aspect of the film.

Tom Cruise’s career has all led to Digger

Attending an exclusive preview of the “Digger” trailer, Looper partook in a Q&A session with Tom Cruise, who shared insights on his longstanding aspiration to collaborate with Alejandro Iñárritu since viewing “Amores Perros” in 2000. Their partnership, evolving over the past seven years, has now come to fruition with “Digger.” Although Iñárritu was not present, his video message emphasized that the core of “Digger” is its uniquely compelling protagonist. Cruise embraced the role, adopting a thick Southern drawl, a significantly different physique, and a flair for unpredictable outbursts.

The trailer looks absolutely beautiful; the movie was filmed in VistaVision, a high-resolution format developed in 1954 that’s seen a resurgence lately in films like last year’s best picture winner, “One Battle After Another.” Could VistaVision go two-for-two at next year’s ceremony with “Digger” taking home the big prize? That remains to be seen, but it’s clear you won’t want to sleep on this.

Cruise stars in the upcoming film alongside Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Jesse Plemons, Emma D’Arcy, Michael Stuhlbarg, and John Goodman, who plays the ailing, near-death President of the United States. For now, we just want to see more scenes with Cruise and that sick cat. Cruise refused to confirm whether or not the cat was an animatronic, but it’s glorious nonetheless.

“Digger,” which looks like it’ll easily be one of the best movies of 2026, comes out in theaters and in IMAX on October 2.

Jennifer Lopez Sparks Controversy Over Bold Sun Hat Choice – Fans React

0

Wimbledon is often recognized for its strict enforcement of a traditional dress code among its players, but it turns out that the celebrities seated in the audience can also attract criticism for their fashion choices.

Jennifer Lopez faced the ire of tennis enthusiasts when she donned an oversized sunhat at the men’s singles final at the All England Club yesterday.

At 56, the acclaimed singer took significant measures to shield herself from the sun as she watched Jannik Sinner secure victory over Alexander Zverev, earning the championship for the second year in a row.

However, her choice of headwear was labeled as ‘inappropriate’ by some spectators, who found it inconsiderate to those sitting behind her.

Expressing frustration on X (formerly known as Twitter), one disgruntled fan wrote: ‘@JLo this type of hat is inappropriate for such events! You should do your homework, lady!’

Another joked that it was so big it looked like she had folded up a cardboard box as they wrote: ‘JLo looks like she has made her hat from an amazon box!’

Other frustrated fans added: ‘@JLo just so you know, with that hat, guests that paid a lot of money to be right there , can’t watch because you like to look good for Instagram.’;

‘However JLo entered wearing a huge hat. They should have required her to remove It’;

‘The hat is a bit much taking into consideration the people behind and next to you.’; ‘JLo looks ridiculous in that hat. Pay attention to me as usual.’;

‘Love the outfit just not the hat for this kind of event. First, it looks a bit like a crumpled paper bag. Maybe the Kentucky Derby because it’s a hat show. But tennis matches are conservative, crisp, & clean so the attire should match the sport. You have great hair. Work it.’

But others rushed to the star’s defence as they explained she did remove it later in the game as she spent the day with Tom Hiddleston.

They wrote: ‘She took the hat off. People leave this woman alone’; ‘Big hat energy. JLo looks absolutely adorable!’

Italy’s Sinner who secured the Wimbledon championship for the second year in a row as he beat Germany’s Zverev in the men’s singles final.

Having lost the first set, Sinner won 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Centre Court to claim his second title in as many years at the All England Club.

The Italian, who did not have rival Carlos Alcaraz to contend with due to injury, breezed to victory in a little under four hours to become just the tenth man to retain the title in the Open era.

Tennessee Faces Challenges: Is It the Toughest Place to Live in 2026?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An insightful report from CNBC’s financial network has identified Tennessee as the state with the lowest quality of life across the United States.

The evaluation considered various elements including crime statistics, air purity, and healthcare standards coupled with the affordability and accessibility of childcare, the inclusivity of state regulations, and rights related to reproduction.

Tennessee’s ranking was adversely affected by legislation perceived as targeting the LGBTQ+ community, compounded by elevated crime rates, limited healthcare access, and insufficient worker rights protections.

“Republican leaders in Tennessee, spearheaded by Gov. Bill Lee, openly stand by a series of state laws seen as targeting the LGBTQ+ community, such as a “bathroom law” mandating transgender individuals to use restrooms that match their birth sex. Furthermore, the state prohibits local governments from enacting their own anti-discrimination policies. To emphasize their stance, Lee declared June as “Nuclear Family Month” earlier this year.

“The nuclear family, consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children, is God’s design for familial structure and has been the bedrock of society since the creation of the world,” the resolution states.

Its sponsors deliberately timed the observance to coincide with the month when Tennessee’s more than 300,000 LGBTQ+ people celebrate Pride.

Inclusiveness isn’t the only area where the Volunteer State falls short. Tennessee also has one of the highest violent crime rates in the nation, according to FBI statistics. And it has the third-highest rate of drug deaths, according to the United Health Foundation.”

Tennessee scored a total of 64 points out of a possible 290. The lone positive strength for the Volunteer State was air quality.

Georgia, Louisiana, Indiana and Texas make up the rest of the bottom five states. Nebraska was ranked the best state for quality of life by CNBC for the sixth year in a row.

Exploring the Reasons for Australia’s Rising Auction Clearance Rates

0

Auction clearance rates have surpassed the 50 percent mark following a significant decline to levels not witnessed in over six years. However, experts are advising caution, suggesting that the increase might be more reflective of a decrease in the volume of properties going to auction rather than signaling a full market recovery.

The preliminary auction clearance rate across Australia’s major cities reached 54.8 percent last week. This marks a five-point rise from the week before and represents the highest rate recorded in the past seven weeks, as reported by property analysis firm Cotality.

This development follows a significant dip in late June, when a mere 47.4 percent of nearly 1,900 homes taken to auction found buyers, marking the weakest performance since April 2020 amid the pandemic’s disruption of the real estate market.

Currently, auction volumes have dropped approximately 8 percent compared to the same period last year.

Industry experts point out that a smaller number of listings, sellers having more realistic expectations, and less competition among properties can drive up clearance rates, even while broader market environments remain tepid.

They say higher interest rates have reduced buyers’ borrowing capacity, while economic uncertainty and recently legislated tax changes affecting property investors have also weighed on confidence.

‘Significant change in the market conditions’

Sydney recorded a preliminary clearance rate of 57.5 per cent from 452 auctions, up almost six percentage points from the previous week.

Melbourne’s rate rose 1.7 percentage points to 56.2 per cent across 585 auctions.

But clearance rates remain weak by historical standards and property experts have urged caution, saying it was too early to tell whether last week’s uptick reflected a broader trend.

Real Estate Institute of Australia president Jacob Caine said the auction market was still adjusting to uncertainty.

“The brutal reality is that the auction market in general is relatively flat compared to recent historical performance,” he said.

“The external factors around tax, around policy, around international concerns are creating uncertainty.

“In an uncertain market, both sellers are more reticent to offer their property via auction, buyers are more reticent to put their hands in the air and bid on properties.”

Caine said there were fewer homes available at auction, but many sellers were becoming more realistic about price expectations.

“[Buyers are] still out there and they’re still active, but they’ve got fewer choices in the auction market,” he said.

“As a result, auction clearance rates tend to bump up quite significantly when you see a drop-off in those volumes.”

He said agents were having “difficult conversations” with vendors about the changing market.

“[They are informing] them perhaps that the property being offered today, in contrast to a neighbouring property that might have been offered 12 months ago, is a radically different proposition,” he said.

Cotality head of research Gerard Burg said auction volumes were down about 8 per cent compared with the same time last year.

“This time last year, we were in the process of seeing rate cuts from the Reserve Bank. There was a lot more optimism [about] the direction of rates,” he told SBS News.

“Now, where we’ve had three rate rises this year, still a little bit of uncertainty … so from that point of view, [there has been] quite a significant change in the market conditions.”

Burg said that while some heat had been taken out of the market in in Sydney and Melbourne, affordability remained a major barrier for many buyers because higher interest rates had reduced borrowing capacity.

South Carolina’s Future: Who Will Succeed Lindsey Graham in the Senate?

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The passing of Sen. Lindsey Graham, who was campaigning for his fifth term, marks the beginning of a turbulent phase in the political landscape of South Carolina, already charged with considerable disruptions this year.

As the most experienced senator from the traditionally conservative state and a key supporter of President Donald Trump, Graham was widely anticipated to secure reelection with ease.

Now, Gov. Henry McMaster faces the task of appointing a temporary successor to fill the seat until January. Meanwhile, the state gears up for a special primary election to allow voters to select a new Republican candidate for the forthcoming general election.

This unexpected Senate vacancy has sparked a flurry of activity among South Carolina’s ambitious conservative politicians, eager to ascend the ranks of power.

Following a wide-ranging and contentious battle to decide their nominee to take over from McMaster, who is concluding his second term, Republicans selected State Attorney General Alan Wilson. He prevailed over a competitive field that featured Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, Rep. Nancy Mace, and Ralph Norman — all of whom are now setting their sights on Graham’s recently vacated Senate seat.

How will a special primary work?

According to South Carolina law, a one-week filing period for a special primary election begins on the second Tuesday after the candidate’s death, or July 21.

The special primary election would be held on the second Tuesday after that filing period closes, or Aug. 11. Any necessary runoff would follow two weeks after that, or Aug. 25.

From that point, the new nominee would have just over two months to campaign for the general election on Nov. 3.

All of this is problematic according to federal law, which requires military and overseas ballots to go out 45 days before any federal election. For the general election primary, that would have been June 27. Federal Election Commission officials didn’t immediately return a message seeking clarity about the process.

Who could replace Graham?

Graham died on Saturday night, and a preliminary medical examiner report said he suffered a tear in his aorta, known as an aortic dissection.

In the hours after Graham’s death was announced, South Carolina’s Republican circles were already swirling with rumors about possible replacements. Given the proximity of November’s election, it’s likely that whomever McMaster appoints could be a top contender in the special primary, although it’s possible that McMaster’s choice will only serve as a temporary caretaker.

Evette, who has served nearly eight years alongside McMaster and received his endorsement in the governor’s race, is one possibility. She lost the June 23 runoff to Wilson.

A person with knowledge of Evette’s thinking but not authorized to discuss it publicly said that she was getting encouragement from across the state and feels she would have good chances in the special primary.

It’s unlikely that any House member would be appointed to finish Graham’s current term, since Republicans have such a slim majority in the chamber.

U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, a rumored replacement, said he assured Trump on Sunday that “my goal is to remain in the House to keep his two-vote majority for the American people!!!”

However, that doesn’t mean that House members won’t run for the next full term. A person with knowledge of Mace’s thinking but not authorized to speak about it publicly said she was considering the race. Mace is not running for reelection to the House.

But another Republican from the state, Rep. Russell Fry, could be a possibility. The two-term lawmaker represents the growing area around Myrtle Beach, and he’s been a top Trump ally.

A spokesman for businessman Mark Lynch, whom Graham defeated in the primary, didn’t return a message Sunday.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who lived in South Carolina before joining the Trump administration, has fielded calls about potentially replacing Graham but doesn’t have interest in the role and enjoys working for the president, according to a person who insisted on anonymity to describe private conversations.

How does Graham’s death affect the general election?

No Democrat has won a Senate seat in South Carolina in decades, and Republicans in recent history typically take statewide seats by double digits. When he last ran in 2020, Graham defeated his Democratic opponent, Jaime Harrison, by a 10 percentage point margin.

So while history suggests that Graham was en route to a fifth term, Republicans are carefully surveying the landscape.

Charleston pediatrician Annie Andrews won the Democratic nomination last month and has raised more than $8 million in the race, and she had just under $3 million cash on hand at the end of May, according to federal filings. Graham had taken in $6 million, with just over $4 million on hand.

In a statement Sunday, Andrews called on South Carolinians to join her “in setting partisanship aside and offering gratitude” to Graham for his service.

Harrison, noting that he and Graham “had our share of political disagreements,” wrote on social media that he “always appreciated that even in our fiercest political battles, we could still share a conversation, a laugh, and a mutual respect for South Carolina and the institutions we were both privileged to serve.”

What happens to South Carolina’s Republican clout?

Graham leaves a major void in the Senate, where seniority can determine influence. He served more than two decades in the chamber, positioning himself to lead committees and set the agenda.

Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina’s junior senator, has been in office only since 2012 — short by the state’s standards. Fritz Hollings served for 38 years, and Strom Thurmond was there for 47.

Scott, who co-chaired Graham’s reelection effort, described his former colleague as “irreplaceable.”

“America lost a statesman, but I lost a friend,” he told ABC’s “This Week.”
