Stefon Diggs Issues Bold Challenge to NFL Teams Amid Free Agency Waves Following Patriots Departure

0

Despite not being aligned with an NFL team just yet, Stefon Diggs maintains an unwavering sense of self-assurance.

With NFL training camps on the horizon, Diggs remains a free agent following his release from the Patriots in March.

Addressing any doubters, Diggs shared a video on his YouTube channel last week, delivering a compelling message about his skills.

“In my view, I can compete with anyone,” he declared in the video. “Consider those [top wide receivers] as your first choice, but you won’t find a number two better than me.”

Diggs extended his challenge to NFL teams, daring them to match their second-best receiver against his talent.

“There’s not a No. 2 on a team — let’s presumably give people the credit and just say, ‘OK, you want to take the No. 1 spot away,’” Diggs said. “Name your No. 2 receiver right now, and tell me how much he makes, and then my last question is: Is he better than me?”

Diggs is coming off a year where he had 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns during the regular season and another 14 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown during the Pats’ run to the Super Bowl.

But Diggs has dealt with off-the-field drama, which included his relationship with music artist Cardi B as well as a criminal case involving allegations of assault by a private chef.

Diggs was found not guilty in May of assaulting the private chef over a pay dispute after a two-day trial.

The NFL also closed its probe into whether he violated the league’s personal conduct policy.

There will likely be a team that gives Diggs a chance before training camps open.

The 2026 season will be Diggs’ 12th in the NFL, which has included stops in Minnesota, Buffalo, Houston and New England.

Proven Morning Habits to Boost Muscle Mass in Seniors Over 60

0

Incorporate these invigorating morning practices into your daily schedule.

>

A non-negotiable goal for anyone’s fitness journey should be the development and maintenance of lean muscle. As we age, muscle mass inevitably declines, becoming indispensable for daily function. Sustaining muscle strength is like holding onto the secret of youth, facilitating an active and self-reliant lifestyle. Surely, you owe this to yourself.

We consulted with Nneoma Oparaji, MD, DipABLM, DABOM, a Triple Board Certified Media Physician specializing in obesity, lifestyle, and internal medicine, who shares a keen interest in longevity. She recommends adopting this morning regimen, a routine favored by longevity specialists, to enhance muscle mass post-60.

“Around the age of 30, adults begin to experience a decline in muscle mass because muscles become less responsive to the growth triggers from protein and exercise as we age,” Dr. Oparaji elaborates. “Recognizing this is crucial, as muscle deterioration increases the likelihood of falls, dependency, fractures, frailty, and hospitalization. Our muscle power determines our ability to navigate stairs, carry groceries, rise from chairs, and recuperate from illnesses.”

Listed below are some revitalizing morning habits designed to bolster muscle mass as you age. Integrate them into your routine without delay.

Movement

Kickstarting the day with a healthy dose of movement works wonders for the mind, body, and soul. Plus, carving out time for fitness before work deadlines, errands, and daily tasks set in ensures you’re more likely to get it done. So, lace up your sneakers for a brisk walk, hit the trails for a cycle, or perform a gentle yoga flow to warm up your muscles.

“I have noticed among my patients that people are more likely to exercise in the morning before the demands of the day take over,” Dr. Oparaji says.

Resistance Exercises

If you want to build and maintain muscle mass, resistance training is the name of the game. This form of exercise includes tools like resistance bands, free weights, gym machines, and bodyweight movements that engage your muscles by working against resistance. Research shows that those who perform regular strength training can experience improved movement control, physical performance, functional independence, walking speed, and cognitive abilities.

“I often tell patients that after 60, muscle becomes a longevity organ because strength is one of the strongest predictors of healthy aging,” Dr. Oparaji explains.

5 Easy Bodyweight Tests That Show Your Real Fitness After 45

Protein-Packed Breakfast

Morning movement is just part of the equation. Consuming a protein-packed breakfast is just as important. In fact, research indicates that consuming a moderate amount of high-quality protein three times per day promotes muscle protein synthesis. If you’re unsure of what to pick up on your next grocery store run, prioritize things like eggs, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, oatmeal, chia seeds (for chia seed pudding), cottage cheese, and black beans (for breakfast burritos).

Florida Teacher’s Unbelievable Transformation: From Viral Infamy to Inspirational Reinvention

0

She once attracted the moniker ‘too pretty for prison’ and became one of the pioneers among teachers embroiled in sex scandals to capture worldwide headlines.

In 2005, Debra Lafave, a middle school teacher in Florida, was convicted of sexually abusing a 14-year-old student at her school.

The scandal intensified after her attorney argued, with success, that her physical attractiveness would make her an easy target in prison, a claim that led the judge to withhold a jail sentence.

Now 45, she appears committed to moving forward and leaving her troubled history behind.

She has taken on a new identity, embraced a religious path, stepped away from social media, and shunned the spotlight. Her appearance, too, is different, adorned with over a dozen tattoos.

The Daily Mail has tracked down Lafave, who now goes by Debra Jean Williams, and found that her reinvention appears to be working, at least among the Florida neighbors who now know her.

Several residents told the Daily Mail she is a friendly, quiet neighbor who causes no issues, insisting they ‘don’t care’ about what happened more than 20 years ago.

When we visited Debra last month she looked markedly different from the pin-up-model-turned teacher many will remember from her trial.

At the time she struck up the sexual relationship with the 14-year-old she was newly married

In 2004, Debra was a popular young English teacher at Angelo L Greco Middle School in Temple Terrace, Florida.

Newly married to her husband Owen, the 24-year-old appeared to be at the start of a promising career when she struck up a sexual relationship with a teen student from another class.

The boy, referred to as M.M. in court documents, told police that he had sex with Debra three times in four days. One encounter allegedly took place in a car while his 15-year-old cousin drove them around.

He also told investigators Debra performed a sex act on him multiple times, including once at her home in her marital bed.

After being tipped off by the boy’s relative, investigators recorded conversations between Debra and the victim before arresting her in June 2004.

After she pleaded guilty the following year, her lawyer argued that sending a woman as attractive as her to prison would be like throwing ‘raw meat’ to the lions.

The judge seemed to agree. She was sentenced to three years under house arrest in 2005 and the press quickly labeled her ‘too pretty for prison.’

Now, 22 years later, the Daily Mail has learned Debra is living in a $400,000 home in Ruskin, Florida, which is owned by her parents and is located around 20 miles from the school where she taught.

As a registered sex offender, Debra is not allowed to live within 1,000 feet (about a fifth of a mile) of schools.

She resides at the Ruskin property with her three children and a mystery husband, who appears to be keeping an even lower profile than her.

Neighbors said he rarely appears and there are no public records confirming when they married.

The Daily Mail attempted to contact Debra at her home over two days, and her husband was not seen.

Debra’s twin sons, born in 2011, are from a previous relationship, while her youngest daughter was born in 2019.

Williams was spotted going fishing with her boys on June 24 wearing an all-black outfit with a sleeveless top that revealed tattoos covering both arms, including floral and geometric designs, stars and what appears to be foreign lettering.

She also has the Celtic Motherhood Knot inked on her right forearm, which features two hearts intertwined in a continuous knot with no beginning or end, symbolizing an unbreakable maternal bond.

According to her most recent sex offender registry entry dated April 2026, Williams now has more than a dozen tattoos across her arms, hips and left hand.

The Daily Mail understands that in recent years, Williams has become deeply religious and has accepted responsibility for the crimes that catapulted her into the national spotlight 22 years ago.

Over the last five years, Williams has completed her required sex offender treatment, community service and paid more than $13,000 in court fees. She has worked in restaurants and bars and kept a small social circle.

But despite trying to move on, sources said Williams still struggles when reports of teacher abuse cases make headlines, fearing her own case will be dragged back into the spotlight. She also continues to receive hate mail over the conviction.

Yet none of that appears to bother her current neighbors.

‘We don’t really care what she did. She is a good neighbor, she’s quiet, her kids are well behaved, she doesn’t throw any wild parties. She’s friendly and waves. I don’t think she’s a big danger,’ neighbor Stu Thomason told the Daily Mail.

Another neighbor, Doreen Webber, said Williams’ past is known but should remain in the past.

‘Oh we know, but honestly as things go, that was a long time ago. Considering where she is now, all I see is a mom trying to make it in this world. I don’t have any issues with her,’ Webber said.

‘I don’t lock up my kids around her. But she’s not the type to spend any time with any kids other than hers. I don’t see a scenario where she’d be around my kids without supervision.’

Debra began teaching at Angelo L Greco Middle School in Temple Terrace in 2002. She met Owen shortly after and they married in 2003.

The following year, she became close with M.M. during a school trip to SeaWorld.

Their relationship escalated from sneaking around school hallways to being driven around by M.M.’s cousin on dates.

The relationship was eventually exposed after M.M.’s aunt spotted them together in a parking lot and alerted his mother.

When confronted, M.M. admitted the relationship to his mother, who worked with police to arrange a sting operation.

Debra was arrested when she arrived at M.M.’s home believing she was meeting the student.

Mental health became a central part of her defense. Debra disclosed she suffered from bipolar disorder and had been undergoing psychiatric treatment. Her attorney, John Fitzgibbons, argued her illness substantially impaired her judgment.

Fitzgibbons later leaned heavily on her appearance as part of his argument.

‘To place Debbie into a Florida state women’s penitentiary, to place an attractive young woman in that kind of hellhole, is like putting a piece of raw meat in with the lions,’ he said.

Debra pleaded guilty in November 2005 to two counts of lewd or lascivious battery involving a child between the ages of 12 and 15.

She was sentenced to three years under house arrest and seven years of probation as a sex offender. She was also required to register as a sex offender with the state of Florida for life.

Her now-ex husband was shocked by the sentence.

‘I think all of us need to keep in mind that she is a sexual offender and, if it were a male, she would have definitely gotten some jail time. And in this case she didn’t,’ Owen Lafave said in 2009.

Owen did not respond to the Daily Mail’s requests for comment and has declined to be interviewed several times in the past.

After completing treatment, Debra finished house arrest and remained on probation before a judge modified the terms in 2009.

She gave birth to twin sons in 2011, and her probation was terminated early after a lengthy legal battle that ended with a 2014 Florida Supreme Court ruling allowing the decision to stand.

She later won primary custody of her sons in 2016 and cooperated with a 2017 biography about her life after the case.

She also tried her hand at music. In 2017, she and her friend Joe Zuniga released the song On This Side of The Door on YouTube.

‘A place to wipe your shoes, and a single yellow light,’ Debra sang in the opening riff.

Meanwhile, M.M. has never revealed himself to the public. Now 36, he has yet to be interviewed about the case.

Insights on the 2030 Men’s FIFA World Cup: What We Know So Far

0

As the curtain falls on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, football enthusiasts are already setting their sights on the horizon.

The upcoming tournament, although four years away, is beginning to take shape with fascinating details emerging that promise a unique installment in the storied history of the competition.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Who is hosting the 2030 World Cup?

This memorable edition will stretch across three continents, uniting South America, Europe, and Africa under the banner of the world’s most beloved sport.

Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will each host an opening match, with Uruguay taking on the honor of hosting the centenary celebration, a nod to the 100th anniversary of the first-ever FIFA World Cup.

The tournament will then move to Spain, Portugal, and Morocco for the remainder of the competition.

The decision reflects the tournament’s history.

Uruguay hosted and won the first World Cup in 1930, while Argentina was awarded a centenary match after reaching that inaugural final against Uruguay.

Paraguay was also awarded a centenary match because it hosts CONMEBOL, South America’s football governing body.

Has anyone qualified for the 2030 World Cup?

As co-hosts, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco have automatically qualified.

No other nations have secured a place, with the remaining spots expected to be decided through regional qualifying matches played between 2027 and 2029.

How many countries will play?

A major detail yet to be confirmed is how many teams will compete.

The 2026 World Cup expanded from 32 to 48 teams, with 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, advanced to the Round of 32.

The new format also replaced goal difference with head-to-head record as the first tiebreaker during the group stage.

CONMEBOL has proposed expanding the tournament even further to 64 teams.

If adopted, the tournament would likely feature 16 groups of four, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the knockout stage, eliminating the need for the best third-placed qualification system.

However, such an expansion would present significant logistical challenges, requiring additional venues and a larger match schedule.

What are the dates?

FIFA is yet to release the full match schedule, but has confirmed special arrangements to accommodate the teams beginning the tournament in South America.

The governing body says the six teams playing their opening matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will receive 11 to 12 days before their second group game, while their opponents will have five to six days for travel and recovery before those fixtures.

  • 8 and 9 June 2030: Centenary celebration ceremony and first matches of Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, all at home.
  • 13 and 14 June 2030: Opening ceremony and opening matches of the FIFA World Cup 2030.
  • 15 and 16 June 2030: First matches of the other teams of the groups of Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
  • 21 and 22 June 2030: Second matches of all teams of the groups of Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
  • 21 July 2030: Final of the FIFA World Cup 2030

FIFA is yet to confirm which country will host the final.

Homeless Woman Charged with Making Violent Threats Against Former Partner

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a concerning incident, 26-year-old Desiré Nicole Griffin was taken into custody yesterday, following accusations of making severe threats to her former boyfriend.

According to the account provided to the Gainesville Police Department, a heated argument between the victim and Griffin escalated into violence, with Griffin reportedly slapping him and pulling out sections of his hair. The altercation took a more serious turn when the victim broke up with her via a text message sent early on July 11. In response, Griffin allegedly flooded the victim with about 50 messages across four different phone numbers. These messages contained menacing threats, ranging from plans to acquire a gun and kill him to setting his house ablaze and stabbing both him and his tires. One alarming message included the chilling statement, “Yall gone have to kill me tonight, we both gone die [tonight].” To heighten the threat, Griffin is said to have sent a video showing a knife and declared it was “brand new,” threatening to use it “tonight.”

The police officer involved in the case observed physical evidence, noting that chunks of the victim’s hair appeared to have been forcibly removed.

Despite an initial challenge locating Griffin due to her “currently unsheltered” status, the authorities successfully arrested her on July 12.

Griffin, whose address is listed as GRACE Marketplace, has been charged with making a written threat to kill, aggravated stalking with a credible threat, and domestic battery. She has four felony convictions (one violent) and four misdemeanor convictions (two violent). Judge Donna Keim set bail at $75,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Asylum Denial Leaves Migrant in Ireland After American Mother’s Tragic Death

0

In a chilling twist to an ongoing murder case, a migrant linked to the tragic killing of an American woman in Ireland was reportedly living in the country even after his asylum request had been turned down, as Irish media outlets revealed.

This individual, whom authorities have labeled a “person of interest,” was embroiled in an appeal process for his asylum application. During this period, he remained in Ireland, where Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old American, tragically lost her life, allegedly beaten and suffocated in her own home in Killarney, County Kerry, according to the Irish Mirror.

Despite the rejection of his asylum bid, the man retained possession of his passport and managed to board a flight to Istanbul, Turkey. He departed just before the grim discovery of Carney’s body, sparking an international manhunt and a full-fledged murder probe.

At this stage, the specifics surrounding the denial of his asylum claim remain unknown, and authorities have chosen not to reveal his identity.

The reports are likely to intensify scrutiny of Ireland’s asylum system and why the man remained in the country after reportedly being denied asylum.

The Irish Mirror reported the Jordanian national had arrived in Ireland in 2024 and been living in a state-run migrant shelter in the idyllic town before spending increasing amounts of time at Carney’s home after they became romantically involved.

He first arrived in the United Kingdom before traveling through Northern Ireland and eventually settling in County Kerry, according to the Irish Mirror.

His social media accounts contain posts from the United Kingdom and Turkey in recent years.

Carney’s social media profiles described her as a “New Yorker in Ireland” and showed her with a man she identified as her partner and writing that they were a “mixed couple.” Multiple Irish media outlets have identified the man as the person police are seeking, though Irish police have not publicly confirmed his identity or reported immigration status.

News Media asked Irish police and the Department of Justice to confirm reports that he had been refused asylum and was appealing that decision. Neither agency confirmed the reports.

Detectives believe Carney died around 11 p.m. Monday, roughly 14 hours before her body was discovered, according to The Irish Independent.

Her body was found on Tuesday at around 1:30 p.m. local time by her 13-year-old daughter.

By that time, the man had boarded a flight to Istanbul having traveled 200 miles by bus to Dublin Airport.

Despite the manhunt entering its sixth day, police have yet to name or provide any details about the person on the run, drawing criticism on both sides of the Atlantic. Irish police said that investigators are working with international law enforcement partners as the murder investigation continues.

Detectives issued alerts to airports, ports, train stations and bus stations within just over an hour of Carney’s body being discovered, The Irish Independent reported. However, by then, the man had already left Ireland.

According to the Irish Mirror, investigators now fear he may already have traveled onward to his home country of Jordan, which does not have an extradition treaty with Ireland.

A law enforcement source told News Media the search is expected to be difficult because the man had a significant head start before investigators were alerted to Carney’s death.

Leeds United Intensifies Pursuit of New Goalkeeper and Defenders Following Harry Wilson Signing Ahead of Transfer Deadline

0

Leeds United are eagerly awaiting the outcome of their efforts to sign Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, with hopes of achieving clarity by this weekend.

Negotiations on Friday appeared to be moving in a positive direction, aiming to find common ground.

Despite Charles’s potential, many fans at Elland Road feel the club should focus on strengthening other positions, particularly with a need for a goalkeeper, center back, left-back, and striker.

Adding to the concerns, Karl Darlow’s transfer to Manchester United has sparked anxiety among supporters, as Leeds had hoped to retain him but could not ensure he would be the first-choice keeper.

Compounding these challenges is the interest from Torino in Lucas Perri, underscoring the urgency for Leeds to secure a reliable goalkeeper soon.

Parma’s Zion Suzuki is of interest but key is whether the Japan international is committed to joining Leeds amid interest from elsewhere, such as Aston Villa.

Parma and Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is of interest to Leeds but has interest from Villa too

For now, Alex Cairns has signed a new two-year deal to at least ensure they have a guaranteed backup for when they do sign a No1.

Pascal Struijk’s sale to Brighton for £18m plus add-ons is reasonable business, when he looked unlikely to sign a new deal. The move went through on the final day of the three-year accounting window for PSR.

Leeds said Struijk’s transfer fee, along with the added income of a 14th-placed finish in the Premier League and a run to the FA Cup semi-final, ensured the club stayed within their PSR limits.

Leeds feel this vindicates their decision to keep the squad together last summer after winning promotion from the Championship.

But centre-back was already a weak point, and they need depth, particularly as Daniel Farke likes to switch to three.

Sebastiaan Bornauw could yet go and Max Wober who spent last year on loan at Werder Bremen, while winger Jack Harrison, who is one of their bigger earners, is in negotiations over a move to New England Revolution.

Ivory Coast international defender Ousmane Diomande at Sporting Lisbon would be Leeds’ ideal addition but expensive with a buyout clause at £68.9m.

Parma defender Mariano Troilo, a 23-year-old Argentine, fits their profile for signings and has been suggested.

Ousmane Diomande would be Leeds' ideal addition but he would not come cheap

Switzerland’s Nico Elvedi at Borussia Monchengladbach has been proposed but is 29, lacking re-sale value, and would cost around £9m.

Generally, Leeds are excited by the position they are in with a good nucleus of a competitive Premier League squad already in situ. The signing of former Fulham forward Harry Wilson is also a coup considering the competition.

The 29-year-old faced media this week and was effusive in praise of how Farke has set Leeds up.

‘Speaking with the manager here, he’s told me I’m a player he’s watched for years and tried to get me at a couple of clubs in the past and obviously last summer as well. To have a manager, when he isn’t your manager, who watches you from the outside, that’s important.

‘I hope when I start to work with him on a day-to-day basis, I can show him what he’s seen from afar is true and hopefully we can do good things together.’

Harry Wilson is Leeds' first signing of the summer, on a free transfer after his Fulham contract expired

Wilson pointed to how Leeds are now viewed as a real threat by opponents in the top flight, and how the partisan atmosphere at Elland Road serves them so well. They hope to improve that aspect further with plans for 2,000 capacity fan park opposite the Jack Charlton Stand.

That fan power and a couple more new signings will make them formidable competitors in Wilson’s view.

The pursuit of ex-Liverpool target Julian Brandt underlines that ambition but they still face work to convince the 30-year-old former Dortmund man.

At least Charles wants to join. Leeds have offered Southampton £23million plus add-ons and believe the Northern Ireland international can grow into a top midfielder.

Crystal Palace and Fulham, plus one other Premier League side, also hold interest but the focus for Charles is on Leeds.

Should a deal falter with Southampton pushing for £30m, Leeds would explore alternatives but despite links with Parma’s Mandela Keita, he is not understood to be an option.

Southampton want £30million for Shea Charles (left) but Leeds are hoping for a compromise

Similarly, rumours of a return for Kalvin Phillips at Manchester City have been scorched as he discusses a new deal with Sheffield United.

For left-back, Matt Targett had again been proposed following his departure from Newcastle but Leeds are assessing other options too and he is talking to West Ham and Norwich City.

A striker is needed to compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Feyenoord’s Ayase Ueda has been discussed but, once again, Leeds feel others may represent better value.

Talks are ongoing for what will be a busy final six weeks of the transfer window.

Revamp of NY Alcohol Laws Aims to Dismantle Outdated Prohibition-Era Regulations

0

Cheers to change in New York!

A coalition of businesses has launched an initiative aimed at reforming New York State’s antiquated Prohibition-era alcohol regulations. These decades-old laws pose challenges to those looking to sell alcoholic beverages within the state.

The “Cheers for Change” campaign is receiving momentum from a combination of influential supporters, including the Business Council of New York State, liquor retailers, bars, restaurants, and leaders within the hospitality industry.

The proposed changes would see New York take the following steps:

  • Eliminate or loosen its 500-Foot Law, which makes it harder for restaurants, bars and clubs to open near each other even in commercial districts.
  • Allow more retailers to peddle booze.
  • Let licensees own more than one liquor store.
  • Revise “tied-house restrictions” to allow applicants with minor or passive interests in one tier of the industry to be licensed in another tier where there is no realistic threat of anti-competitive behavior.
  • Many of the state’s liquor rules date back to the years immediately after Prohibition ended in 1934.

Yet nearly a century later, businesses and consumers are operating in an entirely different 21st century economy, the coalition said.

Some of the old regulations have been updated, but much more needs to be done, the group said.

“New York has made real progress, and we applaud Governor Hochul, the Legislature and the State Liquor Authority for beginning the work of modernizing the state’s alcohol laws,” said Paul Zuber, executive vice president of the Business Council of New York State, in a statement.

“But there is still a long way to go,” he said. “New York’s hospitality economy, small businesses and consumers deserve a liquor law framework that reflects the realities of 2026 — not 1934.”

Andrew Rigie, executive director of the NYC Hospitality Alliance, said, “Updating the 200-Foot and 500-Foot Laws and modernizing tied-house restrictions will remove unnecessary barriers to opening and growing restaurants, bars, and other hospitality businesses, ensuring New York’s regulatory framework reflects today’s economy and consumer demand.”

Updating the state’s liquor law will help grocers and eateries, as well, the coalition said.

New York currently bars grocery stores from selling wine because of opposition from the liquor-store lobby.

During the past several years, the state has enacted a series of reforms, such as allowing more operational flexibility for restaurants and bars.

But some neighborhoods have complained about being inundated with bars and restaurants, and there will be resistance to scrapping or relaxing buffer zones between liquor establishments or near schools.

Any changes warrant scrutiny, said city Councilman Harvey Epstein, who represents the Lower East Side and East Village, where there is an abundance of establishments selling alcohol.

“We need a balance. We want to make sure there’s a dry cleaner, a dentist, a pharmacy, a card store in the neighborhood,” Epstein said.

The State Liquor Authority has recognized that New York’s alcoholic beverage laws remain burdened by outdated restrictions and that an overhaul is needed to support economic growth, job creation and consumer convenience,

A Hochul rep said the governor is on the case and already has scrapped some of the antiquated liquor laws.

“Governor Hochul remains committed to uplifting small businesses and supporting these vendors, including passing provisions in her FY27 budget that will protect retailers from unfair fees, help businesses open faster, streamline beer wholesale licensing and extend beverage services in movie theaters,” said Hochul rep Kassie White.

“Governor Hochul looks forward to working with all stakeholders during the next legislative session to build on this progress.”

The changes backed by Hochul include eliminating outdated restrictions on dancing and extending hours at bars and restaurants during events such as the FIFA World Cup.

In 2023, the Commission to Study Reform of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law issued a report recommending additional changes to New York’s ABC Law, including changes to tied-house restrictions and consideration of easing the the 200-foot and 500-foot laws.

Lizzo Shares Insights on Her Personal Weight Loss Journey: ‘Discovering My True Self

Lizzo is opening up about her ongoing quest for better health and her weight loss journey.

“There are numerous factors at play. People often try to simplify it to a single idea, but multiple truths can exist simultaneously,” Lizzo, 38, shared in an interview with The Guardian. When discussing her decision to focus on weight loss, she explained, “I was at a point where my physical weight was causing me discomfort with joint pain and aches.”

The artist elaborated further, saying, “I reached a stage where I needed to disconnect from the internet, and with just my thoughts and the studio, I immersed myself into things I could manage. My body, my lifestyle, my routines… and this is the person I have become.”

Since 2024, Lizzo has been on a consistent weight loss path, often refuting claims that medications like GLP-1s, including Ozempic or Wegovy, played a role in her achievements. (These drugs are typically prescribed for those dealing with weight-related health issues. However, medical professionals have advised against using these controversial treatments for routine weight loss.)

Lizzo Reaches Her Weight Release Goal

Courtesy of Lizzo/Instagram, Lizzo is joyfully acknowledging both major milestones and minor victories in her deliberate weight loss endeavor. “I did it,” the Grammy-winning artist, 36, posted on Instagram on Saturday, January 25. “Today, stepping on the scale, I achieved my weight target.” She continued, “I haven’t seen this figure since 2014!”

For Lizzo, her weight has since fluctuated.

“I’ve gained 20 pounds since last year, so everyone can ask me about weight gain, too, if they’d like,” she told The Guardian, further detailing her worries about society’s hyper-fixation on physical appearance. “There’s a system of oppression that is constantly putting pressure on, especially women and especially women in the spotlight. That system is unrelenting and it is determined to make you feel shit about yourself. It won’t stop until you’ve bought every product and you’ve bought into every lie and turned it in on yourself. That system is working at an all-time high right now.”

According to Lizzo, she’s exponentially worried about the effects of such a system as “on the people it’s oppressing.”

Lizzo Reveals Whether She's Tried Ozempic

Lizzo is opening up about her body transformation and whether she’s ever tried Ozempic. “I’ve tried everything,” the “About Damn Time” singer responded when asked whether she has used GLP-1 medications in the past to aid her weight loss during a Thursday, June 19, interview on Trisha Paytas’ “Just Trish” podcast. Lizzo, 37, has publicly […]

“We need to criticize the system and the mediums that are doing this and not the people it’s affecting because those people are human beings having a human experience,” she stated. “We should have grace and love and support for them.”

Lizzo has long preached body positivity and also chronicled her slim-down via social media.

“I’ve been methodical, losing weight very slowly,” the “Truth Hurts” artist previously told The New York Times in an April 2024 interview. ““I don’t really see it because if anyone who’s on a natural weight-loss journey knows, losing weight is actually the slowest thing in the world and you don’t really notice it until you notice it. Also, the scale’s not really moving. But anyway, that doesn’t matter. I’m super proud of my current lifestyle.”
