Tragic Private Plane Crash Claims Lives of Father and Son, Investigation Underway

0

A tragic accident claimed the lives of an Oklahoma father and son as their plane went down on their return journey from a St. Louis Cardinals game, due to adverse weather conditions.

Jimmy Don Lewis, 48, and his 22-year-old son, Brayden Ty Lewis, were discovered deceased amidst the debris of their Beechcraft Baron 55 by emergency teams Friday morning.

Reports indicate that the aircraft likely crashed just before 11 p.m. on Thursday night near Waterloo, Illinois, according to information from KSDK.

Despite the late-night crash, rescue operations weren’t initiated until around 2:30 p.m. the following day, prompted by reports of a potential plane crash, as confirmed by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities, collaborating with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), worked diligently to pinpoint the search area and track the last known position of the aircraft.

Aerial search efforts were thwarted due to bad weather, not allowing crews to ‘safely conduct’ operations.

‘The Illinois State Police aircraft responded and conducted an aerial search utilizing thermal imaging technology; however, the weather conditions and cloud cover prevented crews from locating the aircraft,’ the sheriff’s department said.

Around 6am, the Waterloo Fire Command activated a drone search. Two hours later, the aircraft was located in a tree line near a rural field and the two men were confirmed to have died.

Police believe the pair ran into bad weather on their way home to West Siloam Springs, near the Oklahoma-Arkansas border, after the Cardinals game.

Flight data suggested the pair had tried to turn the aircraft in a possible ‘attempt to avoid the storm, before entering what appeared to be a descending spiral,’ the sheriff’s department said.

‘Radar contact was subsequently lost.’

The crash remains under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.

The Lewis family appeared to be an all-American family who loved to travel and recently welcomed a grandbaby.

Lewis’ fit wife, Jill, posted photos from several of the family’s trips, including a romantic European trip with her husband, where the pair visited Rome and Venice, Italy, among other cities, in May 2024.

The family, who lives in a $1 million home, also loved to take ski trips together to Winter Park in Colorado.

Brayden, who went by Ty, recently took a trip to Spain, France, and Italy with his girlfriend Payton, as well as a boys’ trip to Mexico.

Explore Declan Rice’s Personal Life with His Partner as He Dismisses Upgrade Rumors

In the thrilling journey of the 2026 World Cup, England’s defensive midfielder Declan Rice has a steadfast supporter in his partner, Lauren Fryer. The couple’s story began at the age of 17 and has since blossomed into a family. They share the joy of a three-year-old son, Jude. While Lauren and Jude are often seen cheering for Declan at his matches, the family opts for a more private life when away from the public eye.

Declan Rice recently stood up for his longtime partner against online trolls, emphatically stating, “My woman is the love of my life, and there is no better match for me.”

Dani Dyer, who celebrated her wedding with footballer Jarrod Bowen last year, has been vocal in defending Lauren amid the harsh online scrutiny. “For her, it was extremely challenging, facing online abuse, especially since she stays out of the spotlight,” the former Love Island contestant shared with The Mirror.

“It’s more difficult when you’re not part of the celebrity scene but have to endure personal attacks,” she continued. “That was tough for me to witness. Lauren is an exceptional mother who values her privacy.”

“No one deserves to endure such criticism. It was heartless,” Dani reflected. “We didn’t dwell much on it, but we focused on what an amazing person she is—kind, beautiful, and Declan’s cherished childhood love, clearly adored by him.”

Rising above the noise, Declan and Lauren have continued to go from strength to strength, and they were recently spotted enjoying a sweet moment at the World Cup. After England drew with Ghana last month, the Arsenal star was spotted heading into the stands where he chatted with a smiling Lauren and their son.

Advanced DNA technology secures arrest in 1988 Orlando woman’s murder after nearly 40 years

0

A breakthrough in DNA technology has led to the arrest of a North Carolina man for the 1988 murder of a woman in Orlando, Florida. Tremendous advancements in forensic science have finally brought a suspect into the spotlight nearly four decades after the case turned cold, according to police reports.

On Thursday, the Orlando Police Department revealed that Willie J. Carpenter was captured by the U.S. Marshals Service’s North Carolina Regional Task Force. He is now facing charges of first-degree murder in connection with the demise of Diane Matthews.

Diane Matthews’ body was discovered on September 8, 1988, at the Orlando answering service facility where she was employed, located in the city’s downtown area.

Authorities stated that Matthews’ facial injuries were so extensive that her identity was initially unknown; a colleague later recognized her solely by her hair.

Detectives collected fingerprints and biological evidence from the crime scene and conducted numerous witness interviews, but DNA technology was not routinely used in criminal investigations at the time.

Although investigators preserved the evidence and continued pursuing leads, no suspect was identified, and the case eventually went cold.

The investigation took a significant turn more than two decades later when Carpenter’s DNA was entered into the Combined DNA Index System, or CODIS, following an unrelated arrest on charges related to a sexual offense in North Carolina with an underage female, police said.

Investigators identified Carpenter’s DNA as a potential match to biological evidence collected during the Matthews homicide investigation.

Detectives interviewed Carpenter in 2013, but he denied knowing Matthews and declined to provide a DNA sample.

When investigators interviewed Carpenter again in 2024, he voluntarily provided a DNA sample.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted additional testing on the sample, producing results in 2025 that further strengthened the evidentiary link between Carpenter and biological evidence recovered from the crime scene, police said.

Detectives then spent months reviewing the evidence, consulting with prosecutors and eliminating other potential suspects before seeking an arrest warrant this year.

Carpenter was taken into custody without incident and remains in North Carolina pending extradition to Florida.

Iconic Ice Cream Chain Shutters 46 U.S. Locations Amid Nationwide Closures

0

The country’s affection for Dairy Queen’s Blizzard seems to have cooled significantly.

Since the onset of 2025, Dairy Queen has faced a series of franchise closures, resulting in at least 46 store shutdowns across the United States. Texas has been hit the hardest due to the franchise operator, Project Lonestar, declining to modernize locations, which ultimately led to their removal from the Dairy Queen network. A staggering 42 outlets were shuttered in Texas within February and March, leaving ice cream fans searching for alternatives. (Perhaps it’s time for them to give McFlurry a shot.)

In the state of Alaska, DQ lovers faced disappointment as branches in Anchorage, Wasilla, and Palmer all closed at the beginning of July. As reported by the Anchorage Daily News, this leaves only one Dairy Queen in the entire state, situated in Soldotna—a quaint city home to about 4,332 people and brimming with wildlife such as bears, moose, caribou, and wild sheep across 200 acres of protected land.

Similarly, in Great Falls, Montana, a Dairy Queen with a history spanning 39 years decided to close its doors on June 13. There’s little point lamenting over this loss, as owner Steve Galloway is transitioning into the fast-casual Mediterranean dining arena.

These closures coincide with a broader trend as Americans encounter higher costs at drive-thrus nationwide. Federal statistics reveal a 3.5% increase in the price of dining out over the past year, prompting many budget-minded individuals to reconsider their indulgences like the Peanut Buster Parfait.

Considered one of the pioneers of soft serve ice cream, Dairy Queen was founded in 1940 in Illinois before getting acquired by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway in 1998. Today, it boasts roughly 7,800 locations in over 20 countries. And though the mainland is losing some Blizzard hotspots, the chain is reportedly plotting an expansion into Puerto Rico with 20 new “Grill & Chill” spots in the tropical U.S. territory.

To coax customers into its ice cream palace, Dairy Queen has made new Blizzard flavors like strawberry-mango mochi and Mexican hot chocolate. There have also been co-branded lip balms and pajamas featuring its breakfast line, plus a new partnership with the exhibition baseball team The Savannah Bananas, “bringing flips, fun and free shakes” to various ballparks. On social media, DQ is often heart-ed because of its “pup cups,” an off-menu frozen dog treat that’s usually free with purchase.

For those who still have a DQ in their midst, free Dilly Bars (vanilla ice cream surrounded by a frozen chocolate shell) are available for DQ Rewards members from July 13-19. The promotion marks National Ice Cream Day on July 19.

Alas, for Alaskans, the Blizzard warning still stands.

This long-anticipated reunion comes as Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, who has built a life with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and their children in California since their relocation in 2020, visits with his family.

The pair had initially planned to visit the UK with their children, but Harry arrived solo earlier this week following disagreements over plans for his stay – including where he would be staying, and the security he would have.

However, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday (10Jul26) that Charles and Queen Camilla hosted Harry, Meghan and their children at Highgrove House – the king’s country residence in Gloucestershire, England.

Jana Kramer Praises Adam Sandler’s Role in Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s MSG Wedding: A Masterclass in Intentional Officiating

Jana Kramer has come to the defense of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s decision to have Adam Sandler officiate their wedding at Madison Square Garden, describing the choice as “sweet.”

“Initially, people were surprised, saying, ‘Oh, that’s an unexpected choice,’” she remarked on her “Whine Down” podcast this Friday, addressing the comedian’s involvement in the high-profile ceremony.

Reflecting on her experiences, the actress shared, “I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Sandler many years ago when I worked with him on the movie ‘Click.’”

“Thinking back, it does make sense to me now. He embodies that sentimental nature; he’s genuinely a sweet person,” she expressed. “He really is a good man. I can see him balancing humor with a grounded and heartfelt presence.”

Revisiting their time on the set of the 2006 film “One Tree Hill” alumna elaborated that Sandler, now 59, is known for being “very intentional with his words.”

She claimed that although the actor comes off as a huge personality on-screen, he is more “soft spoken” behind-the-scenes, making him a great officiant.

“A lot of comedians you think they’re going to be these very outwardly kind of crazy and wild, [and] he was so soft spoken,” she explained. “You know what I mean? Sweet and quiet.”

Swift’s longtime publicist, Tree Paine, confirmed to Page Six that the “Grown Ups” star officiated the ceremony at the iconic New York City venue on July 3.

The newlyweds appeared to have nudged Sandler to take on the job after he and Kelce shared the screen in the 2025 film “Happy Gilmore 2.”

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end made a memorable cameo in the comedy flick, as he wore only an apron while being smothered in honey by Bad Bunny, who also appeared in the film.

Swift and Kelce, both 36, tied the knot in front of 1,000 people, including celebrity pals like Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid.

Instead of a traditional bridal party, the bride and groom chose to honor the pop star’s brother, Austin Swift, as her “Man of Honor” and the athlete’s brother, Jason Kelce, as the “Best Man.”

Since the extravagant soirée, the newlyweds made their first public appearance as husband and wife on Friday at Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster’s wedding.

Apple Takes Legal Action Against OpenAI for Alleged Trade Secret Misuse

(The Hill) – In a bold move, Apple has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the renowned AI company and longstanding partner of attempting to extract and steal proprietary information about Apple’s innovations and undisclosed products. The alleged theft reportedly took place during job interviews with Apple’s employees.

The legal complaint, submitted to a federal court in California last Friday, charges OpenAI along with two former Apple employees, of misappropriating confidential details and transferring them to ChatGPT’s creators upon their new employment.

Among the accused are Tang Yew Tan, who dedicated 24 years to Apple as vice president of product design for the iPhone and Apple Watch before transitioning to OpenAI as its chief hardware officer. Additionally, Chang Liu, who accumulated eight years of experience as a senior system electrical engineer at Apple, now works with OpenAI.

According to Apple’s legal representatives, OpenAI has directed Apple’s personnel to bring proprietary elements—such as design prototypes, tools, or vendor communications—to interviews in order to reveal intricate details about their tasks.

Apple’s legal filing states, “Pursuing this action was not a decision made lightly. Competing in the world’s most intense markets, Apple is committed to producing the finest products and services that reflect its creativity and innovation.” The statement continued, “Nevertheless, the theft of its trade secrets is intolerable. Given the unsettling evidence uncovered so far, Apple finds it must act decisively.”

As a result of the alleged theft, Apple’s attorneys argue OpenAI’s hardware business “now rests on the shakiest of foundations, rotten to its core by its illegal reliance on misappropriated trade secrets.”

The Hill reached out to OpenAI for comment.

The suit comes amid growing tensions between the two technology giants, which first partnered in 2024 to integrate ChatGPT into Apple’s devices. Reports emerged in May that their partnership has strained and OpenAI was considering legal action over failing to get the expected benefits from the deal.

Upon leaving Apple last January, Liu allegedly did not confirm he returned his devices or scheduled an interview. Liu took his Apple-issued work laptop with him, which he accessed once employed by OpenAI, attorneys for Apple said, and “celebrated” it in a message to a former Apple colleague.

Over the following weeks, Liu allegedly accessed and downloaded dozens of Apple’s confidential files related to hardware while developing for OpenAI, and he coached a former Apple colleague on how to avoid scrutiny when leaving the company.

Apple said its investigation found other former Apple employees also emailed themselves the company’s confidential information to personal accounts when leaving for OpenAI, while some used the trade-secret information during hardware development.

The lawsuit accuses Tan of meeting with OpenAI or its collaborators before he left Apple and discussing company meetings with a supplier, in addition to emailing himself information about Apple’s suppliers.

At OpenAI, Tan has allegedly sought to obtain insider knowledge from Apple employees when interviewing them for roles at the ChatGPT maker, asking about the status of unannounced Apple products and directing candidates to bring “actual parts” for “show and tell” sessions.

The filing also notes Apple raised concerns to OpenAI during the early stages of its investigation in February, alleging the company did not respond.

The football world is in mourning as South African player Jayden Adams has tragically passed away, just weeks after the 25-year-old midfielder showcased his talents in two World Cup matches.

Adams featured prominently in South Africa’s initial matches against Mexico and the Czech Republic. Mere hours before the news of his untimely passing broke, he shared a photo with his girlfriend on Instagram.

Heartfelt tributes are pouring in on social media for the Mamelodi Sundowns star, whose sudden demise has left the global football community in shock.

While details remain scarce, it is reported that Adams was discovered deceased in a Cape Town hotel, though the circumstances surrounding his death are still under investigation.

In another wave of grief, Adams had recently lost his grandmother, Marianna Adams, while he was in North America fulfilling his World Cup commitments.

‘Jayden had only recently represented South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, carrying the hopes of the nation with pride, courage, and distinction.

‘His passing is an immeasurable loss to his family, teammates, clubs, the football fraternity and country at large.

‘We extend our deepest condolences to the Adams family, Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC, Bafana Bafana and all those whose lives he touched.

‘South African football has lost a gifted player, a proud servant of the game and a young life that still had so much to offer.

‘May his soul rest in eternal peace.’

The union also posted on social media platform X: ‘Death has cruelly stolen one of our own. It has robbed our nation of a remarkable footballer, but it will never take away the legacy Jayden Adams leaves behind. We will forever remember his humility, his extraordinary talent and the pride with which he represented South Africa.

‘Rest in eternal peace, Jayden. You will never be forgotten.’

The World Cup star had enjoyed a rapid rise in South African football before starring at the tournament, earning recognition for his energy, creativity, and composure in midfield.

His performances for Mamelodi Sundowns helped establish him as a regular in the Bafana Bafana setup, and he was widely expected to play a major role in the team’s next generation.

Adams’ girlfriend Aqueelah Adendorf sent the Bafana Bafana star a heartfelt message ahead of his first World Cup match against Mexico last month.

Adendorf, who shares a young daughter with Adams, wrote on her Instagram story ahead of the tournament: ‘Watching you achieve something this big has filled my heart with so much pride.

‘From the hard work, sacrifices, early mornings, disappointments, and moments nobody saw — you kept going, stayed disciplined, and trusted God through it all. And now look at you… representing your country on the national team.

‘I don’t think you even realise how inspiring you are. You deserve every single moment of this because I’ve seen how much you’ve worked for it. Through every challenge, you never gave up on your dream, and that alone makes me so proud to stand beside you and support you through it all.

Ohio House of Horrors Mom’s Attorney Claims She Is Misunderstood, Not “Pure Evil

0

Elizabeth Siders’ legal representative has voiced concerns, asserting that she should not be labeled as “pure evil.”

On July 9, attorney Thomas Stolly expressed to WBNS-TV, a CBS affiliate, his strong opposition towards the negative portrayals of his client disseminated by law enforcement officials.

“As we’re just beginning the legal proceedings,” Stolly remarked, “it’s crucial to challenge such descriptors. It’s equally important to acknowledge that both Elizabeth and her family remain presumed innocent until proven otherwise by the court.”

Public officials had earlier referred to the 16 children involved as “almost feral,” a characterization Stolly disputes.

“Describing the children as feral conjures images of individuals completely detached from society’s connections,” he commented. “It suggests they lack human interaction, social exposure, or communication abilities, which is not substantiated in this instance. In fact, we’ve noted evidence that contradicts this portrayal.”

Law enforcement had previously said the children were allegedly kept in a “12 by 12 area” in the home, which Stolly told the outlet isn’t true.

“There’s no indication that the kids were not free to move about the home. There’s no indication from my conversations with my client that the kids were not allowed to go outside,” Stolly said.

has reached out to the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office for comment.

Ohio Family Arrested After 16 Children Found In “Disgusting” Conditions

The news from Siders’ attorney comes after four Ohio family members were taken into custody after authorities allegedly said they discovered 16 children living in squalor.

“Most of our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children,” Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain remarked in a July 1 press conference streamed by WBNS. “[There] was extremely high presence, I’m sure, of bacterial and human feces. It was just a disgusting scene.”

Gary Siders Jr., Elizabeth Siders, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders each face 16 counts of endangering children after they were taken into custody June 30, according to a statement from the Ohio Attorney General.

The children were discovered inside the home after investigators were executing a search warrant in connection to an unrelated investigation.

All 16 children—who ranged in age from 18 months to 18—were removed from the property and taken to the hospital for evaluation. According to Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson, one was in critical condition at the intensive care unit and two had been flown to trauma centers, while others were treated and released.

“I think if they would have waited another 24 hours,” Wilson said during the press briefing, “there was a very high probability that we’d be dealing with…a death or multiple deaths of these children.”

The family has lived in multiple Ohio counties since 2008, but had been in Vinton County for approximately four years, authorities said.

Vinton County Prosecutor William Archer described the oldest child as being “developmentally disabled” and said she couldn’t spell her own name.

Wilson said additional charges could be possible as the ongoing investigation continues.

All four adults—who were described as being the grandma, grandpa, mother and father of the children—are currently being held on $300,000 bond, prosecutors said in the statement. It is not clear if Gary Siders Jr., Gary Siders Sr. or Christina Siders have retained attorneys. Oxygen has reached out to Elizabeth’s attorney Thomas Stolly for comment.

The children have been placed in the temporary custody of the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.
