WNBA Commissioner Cancels Media Appearance Amid Caitlin Clark Controversy

0

Once again, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert finds herself under scrutiny as the fallout from the Caitlin Clark incident continues to intensify.

Last month, the league and Engelbert were thrust into another whirlwind of controversy after Caitlin Clark, arguably the most prominent figure in the league, was punched in the throat by an opponent during an Indiana Fever game.

Amidst this turmoil, Engelbert was set to appear on the Dan Patrick Show, something the radio host revealed in advance of the planned appearance.

However, according to Patrick, Engelbert’s appearance was abruptly canceled at the urging of the WNBA’s public relations team.

Engelbert was in the vicinity of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, attending the American Century Championship golf tournament, where the show is typically recorded.

And Patrick had promoted the interview with the Commissioner, which had been scheduled for Thursday, throughout the week.

Yet, when the allotted time rolled around, Patrick claimed that Engelbert, who has served as the WNBA’s commissioner for seven years, did not show.

Patrick said he and his producers ‘waited almost two hours’ for Engelbert, contacting the WNBA multiple times before getting a ‘feeble’ response.

‘And then we got word that the commissioner said that the WNBA staff, the PR staff, said that she is not allowed to do this,’ Patrick said. ‘They would prefer that she did not do [the interview].

‘Did you check with PR before you said yes to us?’

He continued to insist that if the WNBA wanted to be treated as a top league in the United States then its commissioner should be willing to face the music.

He admitted he was preparing to ask some tough questions, but nothing unfair that Engelbert shouldn’t have to answer to.

‘I thought this was going to be a good thing for the WNBA because people still want answers here,’ Patrick said. ‘There’s so many people who have an opinion, agendas here, and this was a chance to sit down.

‘And yes, would the questions be tough? Yes, yes. And I’m sure that had something to do with [Engelbert canceling]… So, it’s just disappointing.’

Engelbert’s cancelled interview comes after Patrick, like the majority of news outlets and networks in the US, has extensively covered the fallout from the punch on Clark.

The Fever guard was driving to the hoop when she fell to the ground in the paint while under pressure from a number of Mercury defenders.

Three rival players were battling to strip the ball away from Clark and succeeded in doing so. But, while Clark was down on the floor, Mercury star Alyssa Thomas charged in and put her closed fist into the Fever superstar’s neck.

The WNBA’s lack of reaction to Thomas’ punch on Clark has sparked a firestorm directed at the player, officials and the league for what some believe is a routine failure to protect the Indiana Fever star.

Even a group of 11 Republican lawmakers wrote a letter to Engelbert earlier this week demanding that the WNBA Commissioner take ‘accountability’ for the ‘multiple attacks’ on Clark.

The congressmen and women, led by US Rep. August Pfluger of Texas, questioned how she intends to keep players, namely Clark, safe on the court.

The letter describes Clark as ‘the face of your league,’ crediting her for increased fan interest, television ratings and corporate sponsorships,

In the days that followed the punching incident, Thomas said she was racially abused online and received threats toward herself and her family – including her children.

She directed frustration at the WNBA and Engelbert, whom she criticized for being silent on the issue.

‘The league has to do better in this instance,’ Thomas said. ‘Honestly, I didn’t even know I was being suspended until 10 minutes before it was being put on social media. We still have yet to hear anything from Cathy.

‘It’s no surprise. You can see what’s being said on social media. It’s unfortunate, but as usual, she remains silent. That’s unfortunate when our lives are being threatened.

‘Just the whole narrative that’s being painted out there,’ she continued. ‘It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this over basketball.

‘A lot of us, myself included, didn’t even know the play took place until after the game. And now we’re being painted as thugs. And [there are] death threats out on us, so it’s really unacceptable. It’s something that needs to change in this league, and I’m just really sick and tired of it.’

As reported by ESPN’s Alexa Philippou, Engelbert and Thomas did exchange text messages. The Commissioner is said to have directed league security to get in touch with Phoenix security over the threats to Thomas.

Engelbert also released her own statement last week, saying: ‘The WNBA vehemently condemns any and all forms of hate. The safety and well-being of everyone in our community is always the league’s top priority.

‘We are aware of Alyssa Thomas’ comments, and what she and her teammates have experienced is completely unacceptable and not representative of the WNBA community. The league and our security team have been in contact with the Phoenix Mercury organization and remain committed to protecting all players.’

Key Evidence Challenges Charlie Kirk Conspiracy Theories in Tyler Robinson Hearing

0

The preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson, accused in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, concluded without a ruling from Judge Tony Graf Jr. in Provo, Utah, on Friday. The proceedings, spanning an entire week, unveiled a significant array of evidence to the public.

Robinson, 23, faces charges of shooting the 31-year-old Kirk from a sniper’s position on a rooftop during a Turning Point USA event held at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

Judge Graf granted a request from the defense, allowing them to submit briefs before he determines if the case against Robinson should advance to trial. This decision extends the process by approximately six weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for September 1, nearly a year after Kirk’s tragic assassination.

The case has ignited considerable public interest, fueled by both lengthy proceedings and conspiracy theories concerning the events in Orem last year. Many of these theories were systematically debunked through the evidence presented in court over the past week.

The claims:

Kirk’s cause and manner of death

Although Robinson’s defense team objected to showing his autopsy report in court, testimony from Utah State Bureau of Investigation Agent David Hull listed his death as a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the neck.

The testimony included no indication that the forensic pathologist who handled the autopsy found anything inconsistent with that conclusion, ruling out theories involving an exploding microphone.

While there has been some speculation about the lack of a visible “exit wound” in graphic video of Kirk’s murder, the doctor who performed the autopsy was still confident it was the gunshot that killed Kirk.

James Gagliano, a retired FBI supervisory special agent and Fox News contributor, said that over his 25-year career, he’s seen .22-caliber rounds go all the way through a human body, and much larger .45-caliber rounds hit a bone, muscle or even soft tissue and stop.

“Suppositions like this highlight a complete ignorance of ballistics and are typically spouted by those who have never stood alongside a medical examiner conducting homicide victim autopsies,” Gagliano said. “It’s to be expected that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms’ ‘inconclusive’ determination in attempts to match bullet fragments from Kirk’s body with the murder weapon would cause conspiratorial conjecture.”

The forensic pathologist recovered bullet fragments from Kirk’s body, which were sent to the ATF for testing. Although tool marks on the fragments themselves were inconclusive, the caliber was consistent with a spent cartridge casing found in the suspected murder weapon — which authorities allege had Robinson’s DNA on it.

On the other hand, the defense may have fanned some flames by playing up evidence of other, unrelated weapons recovered at the scene.

The defense noted that investigators found an empty pistol holster just steps from where Kirk was killed as well as an unfired .223 round on the roof of another building.

Robinson is shorter than the suspect seen on UVU surveillance video

According to this theory, the suspect is several inches taller than Robinson, who is listed as standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

The video isn’t the only evidence that prosecutors say places Robinson at UVU, however. They have surveillance video of a Dodge Challenger coming and going. He allegedly encountered a Spanish Fork police officer who ran his license plates. And his DNA was allegedly recovered from a screwdriver found near the sniper’s perch and on the suspected murder weapon, hidden in a “wooded area” just steps away from campus.

Tayler Hansen, an independent journalist, attempted to recreate the suspect’s route across campus to test and debunk this theory with a video of his own.

“I went down there and decided to capture as close to the same angles as I could, compare myself, because I’m six-feet-tall, and the new conspiracy is that the real shooter, what they’re claiming, is anywhere between six-foot-two to six-foot-three,” he told News Media Friday.

Although he didn’t have access to the campus surveillance footage, he said he did his best to place his camera at the same angle and height as the school’s cameras. Then he retraced Robinson’s steps and compared their heights.

“I was slightly taller, just in the ever slight amount,” he said. “And that’s enough right there, I mean it’s enough to say, ‘OK guys, let’s move on to the next one.'”

Robinson wasn’t even on campus

Again, investigators alleged they can place Robinson on campus multiple times the day of the murder with video, physical and digital evidence.

They say he arrived in the morning, entered the campus, left, and came back later with different clothes on, following virtually the same path. And they showed a compilation video taken by UVU surveillance cameras showing all of that.

Additionally, Robinson allegedly made contact with some Turning Point USA representatives on campus.

In addition to the evidence mentioned above, police also obtained a Cellebrite extraction from Robinson’s phone, according to testimony throughout the week. Such extractions include information about calls, texts, app usage and location and phone tower data. Robinson’s defense attorneys have not introduced any phone data that could place him somewhere else at the time of the murder.

Maroon shirts

Another conspiracy theory promoted on social media claims that there are “many” young men who decided to wear maroon shirts and light shorts on the day Charlie Kirk was killed, stating “without a clear image, they certainly cannot declare it is Tyler Robinson.”

A compilation video played in court shows the suspect in two different outfits — one of which included a maroon T-shirt. In the other, he wore a black, long-sleeved shirt. Prosecutors have alleged Robinson appears to be both of them, and they also have video of the suspect getting out of a gray Dodge Challenger in the school’s parking garage — the same kind of vehicle Robinson drove.

In addition to the suspect wearing a maroon T-shirt at UVU, Robinson was also wearing a maroon T-shirt when he surrendered to authorities, video shows.

Claims that Lance Twiggs was never interviewed

Lance Twiggs, Robinson’s former roommate and lover, sat for multiple interviews with authorities, including one that the prosecution attempted to play video of in court. After some objections from the defense, a redacted version was shown.

It was between Twiggs and Deputy Utah County Attorney Ryan McBride, one of the prosecutors on the case. Additional investigators were present but not shown on camera, including Agent Brian Davis of the Utah SBI.

Foreign government involvement

The defense tried hard not to allow the public to hear testimony from Twiggs or see text messages, Discord chat logs or the handwritten note Robinson left for Twiggs — all three of which include what appear to be admissions of guilt.

Graf allowed that evidence, however, and the defense showed nothing to indicate there was a foreign conspiracy involved in Kirk’s murder.

Trump Warns of Response with 1,000 Missiles to Any Threats from Iran

0

In a dramatic escalation of words, Donald Trump has reportedly ordered the U.S. military to stand ready to obliterate the Islamic Republic of Iran if they manage to assassinate him, according to a report by Ward Clark from RedState.

These grave remarks were made following a report from the Wall Street Journal, stating that Israel had alerted the U.S. about Iran’s possible plans to retaliate by targeting Trump. This alleged plot is said to be in response to Trump’s action in 2020, which saw the removal of Qassem Soleimani, the notorious commander of the IRGC Quds Force. Additionally, the mission named Operation Epic Fury, which led to the demise of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, former Supreme Leader, was also highlighted.

On Friday evening, in a more precise social media dispatch, Trump revealed the intense repercussions Iran could face should it proceed with such plans. The U.S. stands “locked and loaded,” he cautioned, ready to respond decisively.

Trump’s statement boldly declared that 1,000 missiles are prepared and aimed at Iran, with thousands more set to launch if the Iranian government follows through on its global threat to assassinate him. “Orders have already been given,” he stated, adding that the military is prepared to annihilate Iranian territories for up to a year, with the potential for that timeframe to extend. “PRAISE BE TO ALLAH! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he concluded with his usual flair for dramatics.

‘#1 on the Kill List’ — Is That Why Trump Ditched the Brand-New $400M AF1 for NATO Departure?

Pro-regime mourners at the very dead Khamenei’s funeral have been anything but shy about their dreams of inflicting pain on the United States:

Banners vowing revenge against Trump were on full display in Tehran this week as Iranians prepared to bury late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the first day of the war.

One placard, held by dozens of Khamenei’s sycophants during a burial ceremony Thursday, read, “WE WILL KILL TRUMP.”

Elsewhere, crowds shouted, “I swear by the blood of the Supreme ‌Leader, Trump, we will kill you!”

“WE WILL KILL TRUMP.”

That message has been displayed on massive banners and signs as thousands gather for slain Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s burial ceremony in Iran.

The crowd repeatedly vowed revenge for Khamenei’s death, with signs also threatening Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The threats and calls to avenge Khamenei come after he was killed in Israeli strikes in February, which also reportedly killed several family members and wounded his son, Iran’s current leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

The Iranian Islamic government is known for its bellicose rhetoric that often isn’t matched by its ability to carry out its threats. That being said, we’ve seen at least three assassination attempts against Trump since 2024, so complacency is not an option.

Trump is well aware of the danger, as he noted at the recently concluded NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey:

“They had leaders, they’re gone. Then they had another set of leaders, they’re gone. Now they have another set of leaders — they may be gone, who knows?” Trump said at the summit. “And you know what? I may be gone too. Because I’m their No. 1 target — it’s out all over the place. Because they’re scum.”

“That’s the way they act and that’s the way they’ve done it for 47 years,” he added.

“PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!” the president wrote at the end of his Friday night post in a clear troll aimed at Iran’s embattled leadership. Whoever is in control over there right now, though, doesn’t seem to be listening to threats, and they keep violating the terms of the “Memorandum of Understanding” (MOU) and heightening tensions with their continued attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Hopefully, it won’t take 1,000 missiles — with “thousands of more to immediately follow” — to convince them that their days of terrorizing the world are over. But if that’s what’s needed in the end, that’s exactly what Trump is vowing to deliver.

Editor’s Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.

Gainesville Resident Admits to Federal Child Pornography Production Charge

Reported by Staff

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In federal court, Robert Lee Johnson, III, aged 39, admitted guilt to two counts of producing child pornography. This announcement was made by John P. Heekin, the United States Attorney for Florida’s Northern District.

U.S. Attorney Heekin commented, “This individual exploited a minor, but due to the skillful investigation by our dedicated state and federal law enforcement, coupled with the vigorous prosecution efforts from our office, he will face time in federal prison. Ensuring that predators like this are incarcerated is crucial for the safety of our children.”

Initial Arrest Details

Johnson’s arrest occurred on September 17, 2025, after the victim disclosed having been involved in a sexual relationship with him over a span of four years, beginning when she was just 14. An investigation by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office revealed that they had engaged in sexual activities at his home and in various hotels, with Johnson capturing videos on at least two different occasions.

State charges of sexual battery of a minor, lewd and lascivious battery of a minor, and directing the sexual performance of a child were filed, along with a sworn complaint alleging 20 additional charges related to sexual battery and child pornography. He was federally indicted for six counts of production of child pornography.

For each count, Johnson faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years’ imprisonment, and up to 30 years imprisonment. Johnson will be required to register as a sex offender.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 1, 2026, at 11:30 am, at the United States Courthouse in Gainesville, Florida before Chief United States District Judge Allen C. Winsor.

The case involved a joint investigation by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Christie Utt.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Brian Kilmeade Urges Trump to Remove Jared Kushner from Iran Talks: Potential Rift Brewing?

0

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade has called for former President Donald Trump to remove his son-in-law from the stalled negotiations concerning the conflict in Iran.

Kilmeade, speaking on the Friday installment of The Five, delivered his pointed criticism, risking potential backlash from Trump, who is known for being a dedicated viewer of the conservative news outlet.

Both Jared Kushner and the U.S. Special Envoy for Peace, Steve Witkoff, were criticized for being unfitting for the diplomatic task at hand.

“They’re business guys,” remarked Kilmeade, expressing his disapproval of the 14-point proposal Kushner and Witkoff developed over several months, suggesting it seemed as though it was drafted by Iran itself.

“Their efforts haven’t been fruitful in Ukraine or Gaza,” Kilmeade added, highlighting their perceived ineffectiveness in other global regions.

‘They have not been effective in this.’

He floated Secretary of State Marco Rubio as a much better option that ‘even Democrats’ view ‘as a genius’ when it comes to approaches to foreign policy.

‘We have a State Department for a reason,’ Kilmeade complained. ‘He should take the lead on this.

‘Because you can’t do this like a business deal.

‘You have to understand the history of the region and how distrustful the Iranians have been,’ Kilmeade said.

He said the regime would only budge under a harsher approach. He criticized Kushner and Witkoff – Trump’s longtime golfing buddy – for supporting a plan that basically gave Iran the ability to co-run the Strait of Hormuz, along with Oman.

‘You got to bring them down to a point where they are not even attempting to control the strait. The strait is their new nuclear weapon,’ the anchor warned.

‘They think it’s actually more valuable than a nuclear weapon.

‘They think they can control it and they think they can toll it.

‘And if you look at the point 14 of the Memorandum of Understanding, it actually says, “We will work with Oman and we will administer the strait.’

Kilmeade, 62, called it ‘unbelievable’ that the pair would ‘sign off’ on such a deal.

‘The only thing stupider than all that, is Iran didn’t realize they had the outline of a framework of a deal of a lifetime,’ he added, after strikes between the US and Iran resumed earlier this week.

‘That is, “you leave the strait alone, you get your funds eventually unfrozen, you begin to sell oil, then you survive to live another day.’

‘Instead, you are back to a destroyed economy, a capital that doesn’t have water, and, strategically, we are blowing up their rail lines, we’re taking down their missile defense, we’re taking down their drone operations,’ Kilmeade continued.

He did warn that Iran’s renewed strikes were purposeful, though.

‘Ultimately, they have to retake the strait themselves,’ he said.

‘I know there’s multiple plans and I hope that president picks the right one,’ a visibly bothered Kilmeade concluded.

Mamdani Faces Pressure to Disavow Anti-American Stance of DSA Allies

0

The State Department deserves commendation for halting New York City International Affairs Commissioner Ana María Archila’s attempt to engage with Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s envoy to the United Nations, particularly during this tense period of conflict between the United States and Iran. This development, however, presents a significant challenge for Mayor Zohran Mamdani: Is he prepared to distance himself from the overtly anti-American elements within the Democratic Socialists of America?

In response to the situation, Mamdani has attempted to mitigate the backlash by claiming that Archila was not authorized to undertake such diplomatic efforts. However, his decision to neither dismiss her nor enforce any disciplinary measures indicates a reluctance to take decisive action.

Moreover, Mamdani has yet to plainly state just how profoundly wrong Archila’s actions were, which fuels further speculation.

This raises an important question: Does the mayor harbor a preference for the authoritarian regime in Tehran over the U.S. government?

It is possible to stand against US military interventions without aligning with a regime responsible for decades of hostility and bloodshed against Americans. Yet, certain members of the Democratic Socialists of America openly support the Islamic Republic, seemingly because of its mutual disdain for the United States.

More From Post Editorial Board

DSA factions make apologies not just for Hamas’ atrocities against innocent Israelis, but for last year’s murder of two Jews outside the Capital Jewish Museum in DC, for Russia’s war on Ukraine and for crimes against humanity committed by the Chinese Communist Party and the lunatics who rule North Korea.

As Jonah Goldberg notes in an excellent X essay, the “DSA has an expressly no-enemies-to-the-left approach”; other members are supposed to stay silent even when its affiliates call for the overthrow of the Constitution and US democracy itself.

Is the mayor just a pretty face covering for these radicals, or does he have principles that oppose this profound anti-Americanism?

If so, he needs to start saying so, and to purge the extremists he’s hired to help run New York City.

Archila, for one, has brazenly hijacked the Office of International Affairs, turning it into a puppet agency for the DSA’s internationalist agenda.

This is confirmed by an internal OIA memo — uncovered by City Journal — mandating that diplomatic outreach be “focused . . . on deepening relations with foreign leaders who share Mamdani’s worldview” — one aligned with the DSA.

Traditionally, the office sought to cultivate global sister city relationships, exchange best practices, attract foreign business and support the city’s relations with the diplomatic community (including collecting the occasional parking fines from scofflaw diplomats).

Reaching out to Iran and to the Maduro regime that’s devastated Venezuela, as Archila also tried to do, is a clean different thing, and a vile one.

If the mayor didn’t authorize or endorse Archila’s plan to sit down with Iran’s UN rep, he should fire her.

More: He needs to sit down with his peeps and get every anti-American radical out of his administration.

Mamdani has quietly broken with the DSA on some points, most notably by keeping Jessica Tisch in charge of the NYPD, and largely letting her run policing as she deems fit.

Now that Archila’s put the question on the table, he’s obliged to go beyond pragmatism to principle . . . unless he hates America, too.

Your move, Mr. Mayor.

78-Year-Old Last Polio Survivor in Iron Lung Passes Away, Ending an Era

0

The United States bids farewell to its last iron lung-dependent polio survivor, who passed away following the failure of the vintage machine that sustained her life. The device, a staple from the 1940s, had finally succumbed to the ravages of age, rendering repairs impossible.

Martha Ann Lillard, aged 78, died on June 26 after spending more than seven decades reliant on the apparatus that kept her breathing.

Her struggle with polio began on her fifth birthday in 1953, a day etched in her memory that she could recall vividly until her final days.

“I woke up, it was sunny outside, and as I attempted to sit up, I felt a searing pain in my neck,” Martha reminisced to KFOR last month. “I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow,” she shared from her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Within four days, Martha lost consciousness, her ability to breathe and move devastated by the virus. It was the iron lung that ultimately stabilized her and gave her a second chance at life.

‘They usually didn’t like to put children in because they fought it, but I didn’t,’ she said. Iron lungs are airtight metal tanks which generate negative pressure to force patient’s lungs to expand and contract if they are unable to do so naturally.

Lillard was able to live a relatively normal life up until recently, but everything changed when she contracted Covid twice, as well as shingles.

At the same time, Lillard’s lifesaving iron lung started to break down, with her family explaining that the pieces were too old and hard to find to repair before her death.

‘Some of the parts are from the chevs of the forties, and they’re hard to locate,’ her sister, Cindy McVey, said. ‘We have a spare motor, but we don’t have anyone to put it back in if we needed it.’

After being diagnosed with polio, Lillard spent six months in the hospital learning to breathe on her own.

She was required to live in the iron lung for 23 hours of the day, with the remaining tiny sliver of spare time used to rehab her paralyzed limbs.

But perhaps surprisingly, Lillard explained that she enjoyed the feeling of going into the iron lung because of her exhaustion.

‘When I got in it, I was tired,’ she said. ‘Always getting in there felt wonderful.’

Still, polio ravaged Lillard’s early childhood, as she had to learn how to walk again and the disease severely disrupted her early life.

For instance, Lillard never attended prom and she was only able to go to school for one hour per day.

She was forced to take high school classes over the phone, but could not graduate since everything she needed for a diploma was not being offered by the district.

Lillard learned she had polio two years before a vaccine was widely available in America in 1955.

Until then, polio killed or severely paralyzed millions around the world, and thousands in the US.

Though Lillard tried other, more modern respirators, she ultimately stayed loyal to her trustworthy iron lung.

‘None of them could get up to 21 pounds [per square inch], which is what I needed to breathe,’ she told the outlet. ‘So they just weren’t effective.’

When she was at her healthiest, Lillard only used the iron lung for about nine hours at night to sleep.

A GoFundMe fundraiser to honor Lillard’s legacy after her death said she ‘spent her life as normally as possible’ despite living with just 25 percent lung capacity, scoliosis and a paralyzed right arm.

‘She was incredibly creative, painting, writing poems, and composing music for the left hand piano,’ the fundraiser read.

‘Even as post-polio syndrome continued to affect her, she maintained a wonderful fighting attitude, making the most of what she had left and enjoying life as much as she could,’ it continued.

Lillard would typically use a portable ventilator when not inside the iron lung. However, her quality of life changed when the pandemic rolled around.

‘She didn’t really require a caretaker until Covid-19,’ McVey, her sister, said. ‘She fixed her own meals and, and took care of everything herself.’

A public obituary for Lillard noted that she died of long-haul Covid.

Shortly before her death, Lillard was unable to breathe on her own when lying on her back and unable to sit up by herself.

She had been living inside the iron lung for 24 hours a day in the months leading up to her death.

However, the aging equipment had also begun faltering, which included an instance last year when a tornado knocked out Lillard’s power.

Her husband, Baha Seleh, was forced to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on Lillard until she received further aid.

Vicki Gunvalson made waves on Thursday’s airing of Watch What Happens Live by calling out the authenticity of Heather Dubrow‘s friendship with Tamra Judge.

On the heels of the premiere of the 20th season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Vicki, 64, shared her thoughts on her relationships with fellow cast members like Carmella Garcia, 44, Gina Kirschenheiter, 42, and Emily Simpson, 50. She reminisced about how the show has transformed over the years and how her boyfriend Michael Smith reacted to her return. Alongside that, she hinted at the excitement of the upcoming Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip, reflected on whether she regrets renewing her vows with Donn Gunvalson, and disclosed her feelings of being underpaid.

During the July 9 episode of WWHL, Vicki speculated, “I just think Heather wants to be friends with Tamra because it’s easier.”

Also of Tamra, 58, Vicki admitted she was “really proud” of how calm she remained amid their cast’s drama on the premiere.

“It’s that CBD stuff in the drinks and I just think it calms her. It’s like, ‘Keep taking it,’” she declared.

Moving on to Carmella, as she noted that she liked Shannon Beador, 62, and Lizzy Rovsek, 46, when they were new, Vicki said viewers would have to “wait and see” where their drama stemmed from before hinting that it was based on the newbie‘s lack of “authenticity.”

According to Vicki, RHOC was much realer when it began.

“The very beginning was incredibly incredible cuz we didn’t know it was gonna be a show. We were just like, filming on a handycam for four weeks. What has changed is now people know what they ‘have’ to do to stay on. And that I don’t like, [Andy Cohen]. I just want authenticity,” she explained.

After being asked back to the show in November during a surprise moment with Andy, 58, at BravoCon, Vicki said Michael, who was in the audience, exclaimed, “‘Oh sh*t.’” Meanwhile, as noted by Michael, he was okay with Vicki’s return because he “knew it would make her very happy.”

Looking back on her vow renewal with Donn, Vicki got emotional, saying, “I don’t regret that.”

“That’s actually very sad. You’re gonna make me cry cuz that was our last-ditch effort to make the marriage work,” she admitted.

While Vicki is the OG of O.C., she gave a nod to Kyle Richards, 57, saying that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was the most iconic OG from another city.

“I love Kyle,” she stated. “Her and I bonded so much when we were on the Girls Trip.”

Following filming on RHUGT, rumors began swirling in regard to a spat between Tamra and Shannon at the Quiet Woman. And, Vicki admitted on WWHL that what went down was “not great.”

She then mentioned that she was “underpaid,” which Andy quickly refuted.

“I filmed the Ultimate Girls Trip before I started filming RHOC. So I had two shows at once. So if I seem a little crabby sometimes it was only because I was overworked and underpaid,” she began before Andy interjected.

“I don’t think you were underpaid on any level. As a matter of fact, I’ll go to the mat on that one,” he declared.

Later, after shading Luann de Lesseps‘ singing, stating that she can “sing-ish,” Vicki appeared on the WWHL: After Show, where she explained her friendships with Gina and Emily.

“[They] respect me. That’s the best thing. I want to be respected more than anything,” she shared.

As for whether she agreed with Tamra that Gina and Travis Mullen, 40, would wed before Jennifer Pedranti, 49, and Ryan Boyajian, Vicki confirmed she did.

“I love all those couples. I mean, they’re just good people, but I do think Gina will because of the six kids … So I think they have to show, really to the children, the commitment and the marriage. I love all that,” she gushed.

Also on the After Show, Vicki teased the upcoming season of RHUGT.

“That’s gonna be a great, great series. And the ending, I have to say, was so emotional again, and the fact that all of them really thanked me for starting the wave of the housewife franchise, and again, I cried then too because you think about where would we have been 20 years ago, 21 years ago … what the hell happened to my life? It went fast,” she admitted.

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 20 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
