A furious aide to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reacted strongly after Sara Haines, co-host of The View, labeled Mamdani’s victorious primary candidate, Darializa Avila Chevalier, as a blatant “antisemite.” In response, the mayor’s team has considered boycotting the show entirely, as Chevalier confronts intense criticism over her previous, now-deleted posts with communist themes. Daytime television has become a battleground.

0

It’s that exciting time of the year when the transfer window swings open, remaining so until September 1. As clubs gear up for next season, the rush to secure stellar additions promises a whirlwind of activity.

Stay informed with today’s significant updates brought to you by Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team.

Manzambi bound for Toon

Newcastle United have reached a preliminary agreement with Freiburg to sign midfielder Johan Manzambi for £49 million.

Meanwhile, sources from Germany confirm that Aston Villa and Manchester United have shown varying levels of interest in the player.

Additionally, Newcastle is keeping an eye on Nottingham Forest’s full-back, Neco Williams, as part of their transfer considerations.

The Wales international is also on a long list of options for Manchester United should they decide to pursue a left back this window.

Forest have offered Williams new terms and he has three years left on contract.

Manchester United expect to confirm the signings of Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow over the weekend. Brazil midfielder Ederson is also undergoing thorough medical tests before they can confirm his arrival from Atalanta.

Veteran Coleman in talks with Blades

Seamus Coleman has held talks with Sheffield United as manager Chris Wilder looks for a new right-back.

The 37-year-old Coleman left Everton at the end of the season and has an offer to return there in a coaching capacity.

However, Coleman has been determined to extend his playing career domestically and with Republic of Ireland and has taken up an invite to train with Wilder’s squad.

The Blades have also been hoping to sign Coleman’s former teammate Lewis Dobbin from Aston Villa on loan. But Villa want a permanent sale.

Upson Jnr in Arsenal frame

Elijah Upson has visited Arsenal’s training ground as he considers his next move after leaving Tottenham.

The 18-year-old defender, who is the son of former West Ham and England centre-back Matthew, has a number of top clubs chasing his signature after he turned down the professional terms offered by Spurs.

He is spending time visiting various suitors as he looks to make a decision over the next week. The right-sided centre-back has some illustrious names to consider.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Monaco have all registered their interest.

Upson had been with Spurs since he was seven and featured for their U17, U18, and U21 sides, including in the U17 Premier League Cup-winning squad. His pace and athleticism, partly inherited from his sprinter mother, Ellie Darby, have been standout attributes during his youth career.

Johnstone an option for Everton

Everton are assessing Sam Johnstone as an option to bolster their goalkeeping ranks, Daily Mail Sport understands.

The Toffees could add a number two goalkeeper this summer, with Coventry City in the hunt for their existing understudy, Mark Travers.

The 33-year-old former England international is one of several goalkeepers on their shortlist to support Jordan Pickford.

Johnstone made 30 appearances for relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers last season, although he missed the latter part of the campaign due to a shoulder injury. His deal at Wolves runs until summer 2028.

Everton had previously made an offer to free agent Karl Darlow, who decided not to renew his contract at Leeds United, but the Wales goalkeeper is set to join Manchester United.

Darlow to make switch from Leeds to Man United

Manchester United are close to signing Karl Darlow as a back-up goalkeeper.

He is a free agent after leaving Leeds United at the end of his contract and his representatives have been discussing a two year deal.

Leeds have made efforts to re-sign him while Everton also made an offer but agreement is now expected to be concluded with United as competition for Senne Lammens. United also expect to sell Altay Bayindir.

Andrey Santos’s move to United is progressing swiftly following his medical today.

The club are expected to confirm his £48m arrival from Chelsea over the weekend.

Read the full story on Santos’ move here.

Everton’s Iroegbunam a wanted man

Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam is attracting interest from Hull City and clubs in Italy.

The 23-year-old has one year on contract and has also attracted enquiries from Ipswich Town.

Iroegbunam had offers from Lazio in January and a deal to Italy could yet be resurrected.

Everton remain in the market for a goalkeeper with Coventry City keen in Mark Travers.

They had held talks with Karl Darlow but he is joining Manchester United.

Everton hold an interest in Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane, whose agent was recently pictured at Finch Farm training ground, but a deal is considered unlikely at this stage.

Eagles swoop for Mingueza

Crystal Palace have signed Oscar Mingueza on a free transfer from Celta de Vigo.

The 27-year-old Barcelona academy product becomes Pierre Sage’s first signing as Palace boss, arriving on a four-year deal.

Mingueza made 127 appearances for Celta de Vigo and was in the Europa League team of the season last term.

A versatile defender, he can play centre back and full back. But Palace primarily view Mingueza as cover for right wing back Daniel Munoz.

Palace beat several major European sides to the Spanish international’s signature – including Arsenal and Newcastle United.

The Eagles playfully announced his arrival on social media using the Oscars theme song.

Wilson is the Bees knees

Brentford have completed the signing of Callum Wilson on a free transfer.

The 34-year-old has signed a one-year deal after the expiry of his deal at West Ham.

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews said: ‘Callum is someone that everyone will be familiar with; he has been a Premier League goalscorer for such a long time.

‘He gives us more options in that area of the pitch, and will help Igor Thiago and Kaye Furo with the experience that he has.’

Brentford, who signed Jaidon Anthony earlier this week, are also looking to fend off competition from Spurs for 18-year-old midfielder Ousmane Diabate from Turkish side Genclerbirligi.

Hull get their man, Ozkan

Okan Ozkan was at Hull City today ahead of his appointment as sporting director.

Meslier makes his move

Arsenal have completed the signing of Illan Meslier following the expiry of his contract at Leeds United.

‘It’s a great day for me because I have just joined the champions. For me, Arsenal is the biggest club in England,’ Meslier said on confirmation of his signing.

“I’m very happy and very proud to join Arsenal. I cannot wait to show the love that I’ve got for this badge.”

Meslier’s arrival at Arsenal will allow 20-year-old Tommy Setford to go out on loan if Kepa Arrizabalaga does not leave. He is evaluating offers from Spain.

Charles off to QPR after City move

Goalkeeper Pierce Charles has completed his medical at QPR and agreed his switch to the Championship club as he prepares to join them on loan from Manchester City.

Daily Mail Sport revealed Rangers’ interest in the former Sheffield Wednesday keeper earlier this week as he completed his move back to City in a deal worth up to £10m.

Wrexham had also shown interest but the Northern Ireland international is heading to QPR who have also moved for Motherwell’s Calum Ward as back-up keeper for £650,000.

Bannan’s back

Barry Bannan has returned to Sheffield Wednesday after leaving Millwall.

The 36-year-old made an emotional exit from Hillsborough in January after 10 years at the club but the midfielder is back and has signed a one-year deal as they aim to bounce back from relegation.

Millwall have announced the signing of free agent midfielder Mark Sykes on a two-year deal, following his departure from Bristol City.

Leicester set to sign fox in the box

Former England and Liverpool striker Danny Ings is poised to join Leicester City on a one-year contract.

The 33-year-old is a free agent having last played at Sheffield United.

Leicester have also asked about prolific Plymouth striker Lorent Tolaj but he is keen to play in the Championship or higher.

Nottingham Forest have spoken to Feyenoord about Netherlands Under-21 international right back Givairo Read, who is also on Manchester City’s watch list. The 20-year-old is under contract until 2029.

Forest midfielder Jota Silva has joined Olympiacos on loan with an option to buy.

Battle for young gun Diabate

Tottenham and Brentford are in talks over Genclerbirligi defensive midfielder Ousmane Diabate.

The 18-year-old only joined the Turkish side in December after a move to FC Midtjylland was put on hold yet he has broken into the first team and impressed scouts.

A Guinea international, the Premier League sides believe he can be prised away for around £3million plus bonuses. Brentford appear to be in pole position to land the midfielder as things stand.

Legendary Broadcaster and Ex-Senator Derryn Hinch Dies at 82: A Tribute to His Legacy

0

Renowned broadcaster and one-time senator Derryn Hinch has passed away at the age of 82, following years of enduring significant health challenges.

News of Hinch’s passing was officially shared by his former employer, Melbourne’s radio station 3AW, on Friday.

According to 3AW’s entertainment journalist Peter Ford, Hinch peacefully departed this life in his Melbourne home on Thursday.

Hinch initially carved out his career in the world of print media before transitioning to radio, where he gained prominence on 3AW during the 1980s, eventually branching out into television.

3AW, paying tribute to Hinch, described him as a pioneering force, nicknamed ‘The Human Headline,’ who always made a lasting impact.

Hinch had earned the moniker for his outspoken and often controversial opinions that frequently landed him in hot water.

The New-Zealand born personality was remembered by listeners and 3AW colleagues for never shying away from speaking publicly about the issues he saw as important.

Former colleague and 3AW newsreader Denis O’Kane remembered Hinch as a renegade and a lot fun.

“Serious guy to a lot of people, but also when you’re out with him a lot fun,” O’Kane said.

A renegade

Hinch took his battle to hold those in power accountable to the political arena in 2016, forming Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party and being elected to the Senate at age 72.

Former federal Labor MP Emma Husar remembered Hinch in a social media post as “a very good friend, support and mentor”.

The pair were forced to reject media claims of an inappropriate sexual advance by Hinch directed at Husar, which both said never occurred.

“The teller of a great story, a crusader for justice and things which were never spoken about but needed to be,” Husar wrote.

“He was ahead of the #MeToo movement and the royal commission into institutional abuse.

“Today I am sad although I know he would want me to only remember the remarkable life he always said he was lucky to have.”

Hinch had his fair share of off-air troubles, publicly discussing his battle with alcoholism, which would come at great cost to his health.

He was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2007 and underwent an organ transplant in 2011.

In 2008, he served five months in home detention for naming two convicted child sex offenders.

He was also jailed for 50 days for refusing to pay a $100,000 fine for revealing the criminal past of Melbourne woman Jill Meagher’s killer Adrian Ernest Bayley in 2013.

Tragic Death of NY Mom Jamey Carney: Hunt for Suspected Killer Ahmad Alsaqer After Ireland Escape

0

A tragic story has unfolded in Ireland with the death of a New York mother, allegedly at the hands of her asylum-seeking boyfriend. Contrary to the initial reports from the gruesome murder scene, her death resulted from suffocation.

The lifeless body of Jamey Carney was tragically uncovered by her 13-year-old daughter. Found beneath a duvet, she lay in the bed of her new home in Killarney on Tuesday morning.

Carney’s body bore the signs of a savage attack, with multiple severe blows to the head leading many to suspect her new partner, a Middle Eastern asylum seeker named Ahmad Alsaqer. However, it was ultimately suffocation that claimed her life, not the brutal beating they first assumed.

The revelation came from a postmortem examination conducted by State Pathologist Dr. Linda Mulligan, as reported by the Irish Times. The findings overturn initial assumptions about how the tragedy unfolded regarding the cause of death.

Information beyond this finding from the postmortem remains undisclosed, leaving many questions about the circumstances surrounding Carney’s harrowing death unanswered.

The Gardai, Irish police, have opened a murder investigation into Carney’s death and are searching for 28-year-old Alsaqer, who is believed to have fled the country hours after the alleged killing.

Officials fear DNA evidence found at the scene may hinder the investigation as Alsaqer had visited Carney’s home regularly as opposed to a murder committed by a stranger, the outlet reported.

Carney, who was working for a healthcare consulting company, met Alsaqer at the pro-Palestinian rally a year and a half ago.

The two had been pictured in multiple social media posts in the weeks leading up to Carney’s death, including one where they

He is believed to have jumped on a bus from Killarney to Dublin at 3 a.m. and possibly a last-minute flight out of Ireland to Istanbul, Turkey, according to the Irish Independent.

Police are probing several of Alsaqer’s contacts across the Middle East, including in Turkey, Syria and Jordan, suspecting they are helping the man, who arrived in Ireland in 2024, escape.

Officials issued alerts at ports and airports over fears Alsaqer had a 12-hour head start to flee the country before Carney’s body was found.

“(Police) are satisfied that a person of interest in this investigation left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday 7th July prior to the body of the deceased female being discovered and reported to,” a police statement to the Irish Independent said.

It is unclear how he could have fled the country as he wouldn’t have had access to his passport due to his open asylum application, sources told the outlet.

Carney, who had moved with her daughter from Westchester County, NY, to Ireland in 2021, was remembered by family as a “most caring humanitarian.”

“The sweetest, most caring, most humanitarian person,” her cousin Ryan Fox told RTE.

Fox called Carney’s death “a shock and a nightmare” to their family, as her mother was “very upset” and “could barely get her words across.”

“It’s something that nobody expected because, two days before, there was a picture posted, everybody’s smiling,” Fox told the outlet.

Carney may have been killed during a jealous fit or rage, the Irish Independent previously reported.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud argument coming from Carney’s rented home on Monday, hours before her body was discovered.

Police also asked for anyone in the area of the luxury housing estate between 11 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday to step forward with any information or CCTV video.

Bill Ward Shares Health News a Year After Ozzy Osborne’s Passing

Former Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward has provided his fans with a heartfelt update regarding his health, nearly a year after mourning the loss of his late bandmate, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at the age of 76.

On Thursday, July 9, Ward, now 78, took to X to share a poignant message about his current physical condition. “I’m announcing today somewhat sadly but nonetheless truthfully, that I’ve reached a place where publicly more and more I need to use a wheelchair, mostly in airports or public events,” he confessed. “I can still walk, let there be no doubt, but I can’t walk very far without needing to rest, meaning I need to sit down.”

He elaborated that he first began using a wheelchair about 18 months ago, particularly in airports, as mobility became an increasing challenge. Reflecting on the passage of time, Ward noted, “I became 78 years old on May 5th, 2026. I was a long-distance walker, I’ve walked in many different parts of the world, and I’m still a drummer. I can still play pretty good for 78 years old.”

Ward’s health challenges are not new. Throughout his storied career, he has faced numerous medical hurdles, including mental health issues and tests of sobriety during the zenith of the band’s fame. Embracing a sober lifestyle and turning vegan in the 1980s, he earned the nickname “Heavy Metal Vegan.”

The veteran musician’s health issues have also included a heart attack in 1998 while rehearsing for Black Sabbath’s reunion tour, along with further cardiac issues in 2017 and 2021. In recent years, his mobility has become a new frontier in his ongoing health journey.

“My talents and ambitions, and my unyielding need to be artful, and to play drums, is still as strong as it was so many years ago now,” he added. “I’m just saying if you see me in a wheelchair, I’m just catching a ride, I’m not in retirement or ill or giving up, or any of those thoughts that ignite when we see people in wheelchairs.”

He went on, “I’m making myself public and transparent about my new transport, and letting you know I’m OK. If you see me in the airports or visiting friends in the music arenas or theatres say hi, I don’t bite, I’ll just look different, as pictured here. Much love to you all and I’ll keep rocking until I’m dead.”

“And the secrets we hide, can be dangerous to our health, I’m letting transparency prevail, with love and progression,” he concluded.

Ward’s announcement came just shy of one year after the Osbourne family confirmed the death of former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy on July 22, 2025.

Ozzy Osbourne Health Struggles Up to This Point

Ozzy Osbourne experienced a series of health ups and downs prior to his death. Ozzy, who tied the knot with Sharon Osbourne in 1982, revealed he had Parkinson’s disease in 2020. (Ozzy and Sharon shared daughters Kelly and Aimee and son Jack. He was also father to Elliot, Louis and Jessica with ex-wife Thelma Riley.) […]

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” Osbourne’s family said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Every living original member of Black Sabbath paid tribute to Ozzy following his death, with Ward writing via Instagram, “Where will I find you now? In the memories, our unspoken embraces, our missed phone calls, no, you’re forever in my heart.”

Tyler Robinson Confesses Regret to Trans Lover Over Past Actions

0

After the alleged killing of Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson returned to his shared residence, expressing regret over his actions, according to his roommate and transgender partner, who relayed this information to the police.

During a police interview shown at Robinson’s pretrial hearing on Thursday, Lance Twiggs, 23, who once shared both a home and a relationship with Robinson, made a shocking revelation.

Twiggs recounted that Robinson had messaged him, instructing him to look beneath his computer keyboard after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on September 10, 2025. Prosecutors revealed that the hidden note stated, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”

The discovery of the note left Twiggs in a state of panic, and when Robinson returned the following day, he began to nervously pace their apartment while evading any questioning.

Twiggs alleged that Robinson eventually confessed to the crime, breaking down in tears and voicing his regret for the action. Subsequently, Robinson indicated his intention to surrender to authorities.

The moment came as Twiggs’ police interview from April 2026 was played in Robinson’s hearing with some redactions.

Twiggs said he and Robinson first met in 2023 and moved into a shared apartment in St George, Utah.

He and Robinson began a romantic relationship around two months later, Twiggs told investigators.

He said on the morning Kirk was assassinated, Robinson left early in the morning and claimed he had to work a long shift, and Twiggs did not hear from him again until 11pm that night when he received a message about the note under the keyboard.

After Twiggs’ video statement to the police was played, prosecutors presented text messages allegedly sent between Robinson and Twiggs after Kirk was killed.

The first message shows Robinson telling Twiggs to ‘drop what you’re doing, look under my keyboard.’

Twiggs replied, ‘What? You’re joking right?… You weren’t the one who did it right?’

To which Robinson allegedly replied, ‘I am, I’m sorry.’

Robinson’s message continued, ‘I had planned to grab my rifle from my drop point shortly after, but most of that side of town got locked down.

‘It’s quiet, almost enough to get but, there’s one vehicle lingering.’

Robinson allegedly then discussed trying to get rid of the rifle used to shoot Kirk, writing: ‘If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence.

‘Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they haven’t moved on. I haven’t seen anything in the news about them finding it. Will update you by midnight.’

Twiggs then asked Robinson how long he had been planning the shooting, to which he replied: ‘A bit over a week, I believe.’

Authorities said Twiggs quickly cooperated with investigators and offered his DNA for testing, and this week prosecutors said both Twiggs’ and Robinson’s DNA were found on a towel wrapped around the murder weapon.

In his police interview shown at Thursday’s hearing, Twiggs said he was not especially interested in politics, and said he and Robinson never previously discussed Charlie Kirk before the shooting.

He said Robinson would occasionally rant about Donald Trump, but said the extent of their discussions about LGBTQ rights was about legislation the President was pushing.

When asked about engravings found on bullets at the shooting scene, Twiggs said Robinson had told him he was going on a hunting trip and asked for an engraving tool for the expedition.

Twiggs said Robinson had talked about the hunting trip in general for months, then about a month before the shooting started talking about engraving bullets.

Investigators have claimed to have found bullet casings engraved with political messages in the gun, including one reading: ‘Hey fascist! Catch!’

In the alleged confession note, which Twiggs confirmed finding in his interview with police, Robinson referred to him by his chosen name ‘Luna,’ instead of Lance.

‘If you are reading this per my text, then I am so sorry. I left the house this morning on a mission, and set an auto text,’ the note read, per the court filings.

‘I am likely dead, or facing a lengthy prison sentence. I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it. I don’t know if I will/have succeeded, but I had hoped to make it home to you. I wish we could have lived in a world where this did not feel necessary.

Paperwork Mix-up Blamed for Sonoma State Student’s Unexpected ICE Detainment

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The lawyer for a Savannah State University (SSU) baseball player, aged 22, recently arrested by ICE, described the incident on Thursday as a result of a “minor bureaucratic issue.”

According to his attorney, John Jeha, Johan Sandoval arrived in the U.S. in 2022 on an F-1 student visa, after earning an associate degree at Bryant and Stratton College in upstate New York.

Jeha explained that a problem with Sandoval’s student visa paperwork emerged when he made the transfer to SSU.

“It’s an issue concerning the school’s transfer paperwork related to SEVIS [Student Exchange Visitor Information System], a federal system for interaction with universities,” Jeha noted. “This federal law assigns responsibility to school officials rather than students.”

Sandoval’s attorney said the baseball player learned of the issue for the first time when ICE detained him and he believed up until that moment that he had provided all of the correct documentation to both schools.

The attorney went on and said, “He was repeatedly assured that his paperwork had been completely correct,” and he believes if there was an issue with the student VISA it did not have to result in detention. He called it “overkill,” “dramatic” and “catastrophic.”

Jeha said Sandoval is currently being detained in a facility in Western New York over four hours away from where he was arrested and friends and family. Jeha said he spoke with him Wednesday.

“He was not mad. He was not upset,” said Jeha. “…he was hopeful that because he had done nothing wrong, we would be able to resolve this.”

According to an ICE spokesperson, Sandoval tried to flee on foot during the arrest in New York on July 3. Jeha said this was not an accurate characterization of what occurred.

“He did not attempt to evade the law,” Jeha told . “He did not attempt to evade ICE. And he did not engage in any conduct suggesting that he was trying to escape. Most importantly, his actions before and out after the encounter speak for themselves. He presented his immigration documents. He cooperated with the agents, and he’s continued to participate in the legal process.”

He continued, “Johann is, again, a full-time college student with no criminal history. He’s on a full athletic scholarship, a fiancée who’s a U.S. citizen and only one year remaining before graduation. Those are not the circumstances of someone trying to run away from the process. They are the circumstances of someone who has every incentive to resolve his case through the legal system.”

Efforts to get Sandoval out of detainment

Jeha said himself and Sandoval’s family are grateful to SSU who they said has submitted a new I-20 document which will hopefully get Sandoval his F-1 reinstated.

Read SSU’s most recent statement below:

“As we approach one week since the detention of Savannah State University student Johan Sandoval, we want our students, employees, alumni, and friends to know that we remain in close contact with Johan’s family and legal counsel.

We are grateful to share that Johan is in good spirits and deeply appreciative of the prayers, messages of encouragement, and unwavering support he has received from Tiger Nation and the broader community.

As this remains an active legal matter, we are hopeful for a positive resolution and will share updates as we are able.

To everyone who has reached out, offered words of encouragement, and kept Johan and his family in your thoughts, thank you. Your compassion has been a powerful reminder of what it means to be part of Tiger Nation.”

In the meantime, Jeha has reached out to ICE to either be released on his own accord or grant him bond. Because he said they have not heard back, they have also completed a formal motion for Sandoval’s release with immigration court.

Jeha said he hopes they can clear up everything before Sandoval is due back in Georgia for the start of baseball season.

“Detaining him serves no purpose,” his attorney said. “He should be released so he can finish his degree and move on with his life.

contacted Bryant Stratton College for comment on the alleged paperwork issue Thursday, but we have not received a response as of publication.

SSU provided this statement to :

In Gulfport, Florida, Pinellas County Schools gathered parents for three “Planning for Progress” community meetings on Thursday. The discussions centered around prospective changes for the 2027-2028 academic year, providing a platform for feedback on these potential plans.

This initiative is part of the district’s broader strategy to achieve fiscal prudence and optimize space usage. By consolidating and closing certain schools, the district aims to effectively manage resources across the county.

These potential shifts bring a mix of concern and apprehension among parents. Ben Wyatt, a parent who attended the meeting, expressed worries over the emotional impact on students. “Kids have a lot of partnerships, relationships built in that school. So if they have to go to another school, there’s anxiety… new teachers, new environment. Those are things that I would worry about as a parent,” he shared.

During a session at Boca Ciega High School, Superintendent Kevin Hendrick addressed the attendees, focusing on a notable decline in student enrollment. He revealed that the district currently hosts around 45,000 vacant seats. Of the 7,600 children born annually in Pinellas County, only approximately 68% are enrolled in public schools, as reported by the district.

“This is not a problem for 2026. This is not a problem that has to be addressed in one year. This is a decades-long problem that our community, not just Pinellas County schools, but our community is all looking at,” the superintendent said.

Those in attendance had the opportunity to give their thoughts on changes to district leaders and speak with the superintendent about plans. Earlier this year, PCS chose to close Cross Bayou Elementary and Disston Academy, as well as consolidating other locations into K-8 spaces of learning.

“Things we look at… What [does] the school look like? What’s the investment to improve it, to keep it going? What’s the capital needs over several years? Those are what we are researching,” the superintendent said.

These meetings are the first batch of community meetings. Next week, three more will be held at St. Pete High, Dunedin High, and Pinellas Park High. Following those meetings, Pinellas County School Board members will discuss potential options during workshops. Then, school-specific town halls will be held, prior to a vote. Changes would take effect for the 2027-2028 school year.

Authorities in Missouri have detained a man following the unsettling discovery of a child’s remains in a neighboring state.

Ronnell Marquese Jones, 32, along with Kirstie Dora, 35, faced arrest and were charged with parental kidnapping and harassment. This situation unfolded during an investigation concerning a missing young boy. Evidence, including court documents examined by Law&Crime, indicates that Jones, the boy’s biological father, has allegedly prevented the child’s mother from seeing him since April 2024. That year, the mother officially reported her son’s disappearance.

In her account to the Desloge Police Department, the mother recounted the last occasion she saw her son. He was inside Jones’ vehicle, notably with missing teeth, before Jones purportedly left the state with him.

Through the course of the investigation, police reported Jones provided varying accounts regarding his son’s whereabouts. At one point, he claimed the child was under state custody, while another time, he alleged to have dropped the boy off at an Amish community in Mississippi, where he purportedly “visits him.” Law enforcement has noted Jones’ consistent refusal to cooperate with their efforts.

Witnesses told police that they had reason to believe the boy was dead.

A warrant was issued for Jones’ arrest on suspicion of parental kidnapping and harassment on June 12. He was arrested on June 30; Dora was arrested on the same charges on July 2. Details about the relationship between the two defendants were not provided by police.

Jones was scheduled for a bond hearing, but Desloge police announced Thursday that a child’s remains were found in Stookey Township, Illinois, located about 16 miles away from St. Louis, Missouri, where both defendants live. The child has not been identified, but Desloge police said the find was in connection with Jones’ parental kidnapping case.

Court documents for Jones’ case stated that “in light of new information,” he should be held without bond. Dora is also being held without bond. Neither defendant has been charged in connection with the child’s death.

Both Jones and Dora are in custody at the St. Francois County Jail. Jones is scheduled to appear in court on July 16. Case information for Dora was not available.

Explosive Courtroom Drama: Key Revelations from the Tyler Robinson Case as Lance Twiggs’ Interview Unfolds

PROVO, Utah — In a dramatic courtroom moment, the former lover of Tyler Robinson, who stands accused of murdering Charlie Kirk, revealed a significant admission in a video shared with Utah prosecutors Thursday. According to this video testimony, Robinson expressed deep regret over the incident.

“I confronted him directly if what he confessed the previous night was genuine,” Lance Twiggs recounted to investigators during questioning. “He affirmed it was true, broke down a bit, and admitted that he wished he hadn’t gone through with it.”

The confession aligned with messages sent the night before, where Robinson allegedly claimed responsibility for Kirk’s tragic shooting during a conversation with Twiggs, as prosecutors later revealed through text message evidence.

The poignant video surfaced on the fourth day of Tyler Robinson’s preliminary hearing. This legal procedure aims to establish whether the case holds enough evidence to proceed to trial.

Prosecutors had attempted to play it Wednesday, but the defense asked the judge to order redactions.

After some back and forth over what could and couldn’t be included, it was shown in court Thursday morning, and Robinson appeared to watch it closely.

Twiggs, who is cooperating with investigators and hasn’t been charged with a crime, was also Robinson’s lover and roommate, according to prosecutors. He said that he identified as “Luna” to some associates, including Robinson.

Twiggs was briefly placed under FBI protection and has since left the state.

After the shooting, Twiggs allegedly received a text message from Robinson telling him to look under his keyboard. There, according to prosecutors, he found a note that he said he took a picture of.

Prosecutors showed it in court, but the judge said it could not be photographed. It was a full page, written by hand.

“I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it,” it read at one point.

After seeing the note, Twiggs then allegedly texted Robinson asking if he was joking.

“I am still ok my love, but am stuck in orem for a little while longer yet,” Robinson replied — allegedly. “Shouldn’t be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.”

“You weren’t the one who did it right????” Twiggs replied.

“I am,” Robinson allegedly wrote back. “I’m sorry.”

Twiggs also alleged in the video that Robinson began engraving bullets roughly a month before the shooting.

“I don’t remember exactly when, but he had said he was planning to go hunting with his family,” Twiggs told prosecutor Ryan McBride in the recorded interview. “And he asked me…if we had a Dremel tool, because he said he wanted to create messages on bullets.”

Prosecutors have said that cartridges and a spent casing recovered from the suspected murder weapon had been engraved with several messages. Another casing with a similar engraving had been recovered from the home Robinson and Twiggs shared, according to testimony Thursday.

Several times when the Dremel tool allegedly used to engrave the bullets came up Robinson appeared uncomfortable in the courtroom, fidgeting in his chair.

Twiggs said he told Robinson where to find the tool and warned him not to accidentally discharge a bullet while engraving — then didn’t think of it again until after Kirk was killed.

Mention of the tool also appeared to have an impact on Robinson’s family in the first row of the gallery in court.

As the Dremel discussion continued, Robinson’s brother was bent over with his head down, with his mother rubbing his back, and the father’s arm around her.

Later in the hearing, when the court saw a text message conversation between Robinson and Twiggs, Erika Kirk could be heard crying as the texts were read in court of Twiggs asking Robinson questions about the gun, which by the time they were sent had been recovered by police in a wooded area just off campus.

According to Twiggs’ video interview, Robinson allegedly told him that he had a “long drive to work” on the morning of the shooting.

“I don’t know an exact time,” he said. “I just know he left early. I heard him leaving, and he just said he had, like, long drive to work that day. So he was leaving early.”

That was on Sept. 10, the day of Kirk’s assassination at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Robinson allegedly lingered in the area until after midnight on Sept. 11.

When Twiggs said he woke up at around noon to 1 p.m. on the day of the shooting, members of Kirk’s family scoffed from the third row of the gallery.

Robinson reached up and scratched his throat when Twiggs talked about the last time he saw Tyler before he went to surrender.

In another portion of the video interview, Twiggs told investigators that Robinson looked like the man circulated on an FBI wanted poster connected to the shooting, which showed a person of interest on campus.

“They do look like Tyler Robinson,” Twiggs said.

He had downplayed the identification, however.

“I wouldn’t say with 100% certainty just because of camera quality, but that looks like him in terms of the shoes he’s wearing, the sunglasses,” Twiggs said. “I don’t think I’d specifically seen him wearing that hat, but he was usually wearing a hat, and the jeans.”

(Spenser Heaps/AP via Pool)

Twiggs did not testify in person at the preliminary hearing but may be asked to do so if the case goes to trial.

Near the end of Thursday’s hearing, Judge Tony Graf Jr. indicated that he would not make a decision at the end of the preliminary hearing this week. Instead, he agreed to a defense request to allow briefs to be filed by both sides before he listens to oral arguments at a hearing scheduled for Sept. 1.

Only after that would he make a decision on where there’s enough probable cause to send Robinson’s case to trial.

The 23-year-old accused assassin has not yet entered a plea and won’t do so unless the judge agrees with prosecutors that the charges are warranted.

The September hearing will be nearly a year after a sniper’s bullet killed Kirk during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted.
