Challenge Your Glute Strength: How Long Can You Hold a Bridge After 60?

Can you maintain a bridge position for 90 seconds once you’re over 60? Discover the significance of your hold time.

>

The glute bridge is a staple in many workout routines, thanks to its focus on a movement utilized frequently in daily activities: hip thrusts. This action is crucial when getting up from a seat, climbing stairs, ascending inclines, or pushing off the ground during an energetic walk. The bridge exercise emphasizes this action, with the glutes being the powerhouse for movement, while the core provides stability to the pelvis.

For individuals over 60, having strong glutes can significantly enhance mobility. These muscles stabilize the hips, alleviate stress on the lower back, and enhance leg power for standing, climbing, or pivoting. Additionally, they help maintain pelvic alignment during walking, leading to smoother strides and superior balance.

In warm-up sessions with clients, I frequently incorporate bridge holds to evaluate their ability to generate hip tension. Within just a few seconds, you can identify where the effort is concentrated. Effective glute engagement and level hips indicate that the body is well-prepared for exercises such as squats, step-ups, deadlifts, or extended walks.

The bridge hold is also an excellent method for gauging muscle endurance. By lifting into position and holding steady, you can assess how long your glutes can sustain effort with proper form. Read on to understand why this test is beneficial, instructions for executing it, the relevance of your hold duration, and strategies for enhancing glute strength over time.

Why the Bridge Hold Is a Strong Glute Test After 60

The bridge hold puts your glutes under steady tension while your body stays in one position. Your hamstrings and core help, but the glutes carry much of the job. They extend the hips and keep the pelvis from dropping as the hold continues.

This exercise also gives your hips a chance to work without much joint stress. Your feet stay planted, your back stays supported by the floor, and you can focus on keeping the movement controlled. That makes the bridge useful for people who want to build lower-body strength while staying mindful of their knees, hips, and back.

Time under tension adds another layer to the test. Instead of finishing one rep and resetting, your glutes have to stay active through the full hold. That builds endurance in the muscles that support walking, climbing stairs, standing, and other daily movements. A strong bridge hold shows that your hips can stay engaged for more than a few seconds.

How to Perform a Proper Bridge Hold

A good bridge starts with your setup. Your feet should feel planted, your ribs should stay controlled, and your hips should rise as one unit. Once you get into position, focus on keeping the same height from start to finish.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor about hip-width apart.
  2. Place your arms at your sides with your palms facing down.
  3. Brace your core before lifting your hips.
  4. Press through your heels and raise your hips until your shoulders, hips, and knees form a straight line.
  5. Squeeze your glutes and keep your ribs down.
  6. Hold the position while breathing steadily.

Movement Standard: The hold counts when your hips stay level, your glutes stay engaged, and your body forms a straight line from your shoulders to your knees. Stop the timer when your hips lower or your low back starts doing most of the work.

Best Variations: Marching Bridge, Single-Leg Bridge, Banded Bridge Hold, Elevated Feet Bridge, Hip Thrust Hold.

Bridge Hold Test After 60: What Your Time Means

Use the clock as a reference, but pay attention to your position, too. A strong score comes from hips that stay level, glutes that stay active, and a steady breath from start to finish.

  • Under 30 seconds: Building Your Base

This is a good place to start if the bridge feels new or your glutes fatigue quickly. Shorter holds can still build a lot of value here, especially when you focus on keeping your hips even and feeling the work in your glutes instead of your lower back.

  • 30 to 60 seconds: A Solid Everyday Foundation

You’ve got enough glute endurance to support common daily movements like standing from a chair, climbing a flight of stairs, or staying comfortable through longer walks. This range gives you a strong base to build from.

  • 60 to 90 seconds: Strong Hip Control

Your glutes are doing more than turning on for a few seconds. They can stay active, support your pelvis, and hold your position as fatigue builds. This usually lines up with better control during stairs, hills, step-ups, and other lower-body work.

  • 90+ seconds: Top-Tier After 60

This is an impressive hold. Your glutes can maintain force, your hips stay organized, and your core keeps the position from drifting. That points to excellent muscular endurance through the hips and a strong foundation for staying active, mobile, and capable.

How to Build Stronger Glutes After 60

Building stronger glutes takes more than holding one position for longer. The bridge can be your starting point; then you can add movements that challenge the hips across different ranges of motion and positions. Regular practice helps your body become more comfortable creating tension through the glutes rather than relying on the lower back. Keep the work controlled, build gradually, and give yourself time to improve the quality of every rep and hold.

  • Practice bridge holds a few times per week: Start with two to three sets of 20 to 40 seconds and build from there.
  • Use full-range bridges: Lift until your hips line up with your knees and shoulders, then lower with control.
  • Add marching bridges: Lift one foot at a time while keeping your hips level to challenge each side.
  • Train step-ups: Step-ups build hip strength that carries into stairs, hills, and getting up from chairs.
  • Include split squats: This exercise helps each leg build strength and control independently.
  • Use hip thrusts when ready: Hip thrusts let you add resistance while keeping the focus on hip extension.
  • Keep your ribs controlled: A steady rib position helps your glutes and core work together during bridges and other lower-body exercises.
  • Retest every few weeks: Use the same setup and movement standard so your hold time gives you a clear picture of progress.

A clean bridge hold gives you a practical read on glute strength after 60. If you can stay level for more than 90 seconds, your hips have strong endurance and control that carry over into how you walk, climb, stand, and train.

Trinity Rodman Celebrates Goal with Heartwarming Moment Shared with Ben Shelton

0

When Ben Shelton found himself unexpectedly available to watch Trinity Rodman play on a recent Friday, she made sure to give him a performance worth cheering for.

The star of the Washington Spirit illuminated the field with two brilliant goals, leading her team to victory over the Houston Dash. Shelton, who had just suffered a disappointing early exit from Wimbledon, was there to witness his girlfriend’s dazzling display.

Rodman sealed the game with a dramatic 94th-minute goal, sprinting over to share a celebratory kiss with Shelton, marking a joyous highlight in an otherwise complex week for the pair.

Despite the exhilaration of the moment, Rodman described the experience as “bittersweet,” shadowed by Shelton’s unexpected defeat to Otto Virtanen in the opening round in London.

“Obviously it’s bittersweet,” Rodman confessed to Victory+ after their 2-1 triumph. “I wish he wasn’t here, but I’m obviously happy whenever he’s able to come and support me and I get to spend time with him,” she expressed, reflecting on the mix of emotions stemming from Shelton’s presence at the game.

“I love that that little amount of time that he’s able to see me that I can put goals in the back of the net. So, I’m happy about that.”

With Shelton traveling around the world for much of the year due to his tennis schedule, quality time is hard to come by for the couple.

However, Rodman was in the stands last summer at Wimbledon as he went on to make the quarterfinals.

Shelton also referred to Rodman as his “lucky charm” as she watched him win the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, Germany.

On Friday, Rodman won the game for the Spirit as she cut onto her left foot and slid a shot into the bottom corner past Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell. It was Rodman’s fifth goal of the season.

Shelton, meanwhile, will enjoy a bit of time off before resuming his busy tennis schedule.

Massive Far-Left Protests Erupt in Violent Clashes with Police Over Conservative Party Policies

0

On Saturday, the streets of Erfurt, a city in Germany, were inundated with tens of thousands of far-left demonstrators expressing their opposition to the conservative Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. The protests led to fierce clashes with police forces.

Video footage captures the scene as police used batons and anti-riot equipment to hold back the crowds. Meanwhile, the demonstrators’ chants echoed their discontent with the AfD party during this significant political rally.

According to the Associated Press (AP), police reported an attendance of over 30,000 people at the protests. Many in the crowd brandished signs with slogans such as “Stop AfD Nazis” and “For Diversity, Against Nazis.”

Despite the intense scenes captured on video, a police spokesperson assured news outlets that the protests remained “mostly peaceful.” They noted that around 100 violations were recorded, predominantly involving graffiti.

The protests coincided with AfD’s party conference and leadership elections during which the party, the second largest parliamentary group in Germany’s Bundestag parliament, re-elected Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla as the party co-leaders.

The mass demonstrations delayed AfD’s vote, prompting Chrupalla to criticize the method in which agitators expressed their dissatisfaction.

“There are no peaceful seated blockades. There are no democratic roadblocks. Nor are there any gangs of thugs who deserve the harmless label ‘civil society.’ These troublemakers are the last resort of our political rivals,” Chrupalla said, according to the AP.

Chrupalla also accused the protesters of acting anti-democratically. “They believe they have a monopoly on democracy. To these demonstrators I say: this democracy is just as much our democracy as it is yours.”

A spokesperson for local antifascist group widersetzen explicitly claimed that the group’s intention was to block AfD’s party convention.

PRESIDENT ALEKSANDAR VUČIĆ: EUROPE VILIFIES TRUMP, BUT WE IN SERBIA SEE A FRIEND

“The AfD pursues fascist policies: It wants mass deportations and terror on the streets. At the same time, however, it doesn’t solve a single real problem,” widersetzen spokesperson Lena Raupach told the AP. “It pursues policies that benefit the rich, not ordinary citizens. And we at widersetzen want a society in which all people have equal opportunities and equal security. We want a society based on solidarity.”

AfD, while fighting accusations of extremism from citizens and center-left and center-right politicians in the country’s ruling coalition, rejects the notion that it is extreme, arguing it is “being used as a political instrument by mainstream parties,” according to the AP.

The party has been experiencing a historic surge in popularity in recent years, grabbing over 20% of the national vote in federal elections in 2025 with an eye on capturing even more in the next election. Some federal polls have the party ranked as the most popular in the country today.

“We will win. Maybe we’ll be able to govern alone soon,” Chrupalla said Saturday. “That would send the right message to the enemies of democracy out there who wanted to prevent our party convention from taking place.”

Partygoers widely support the conservative moment fashioned by President Donald Trump and the party shares similar stances on social, cultural and domestic issues as the Trump administration, particularly on immigration. Perhaps inspired by Trump’s trademark slogan, one party conference attendee Saturday could be seen sporting a “Make Germany Great Again” hat.

Sabrina Carpenter Attends Taylor Swift’s Wedding as a Guest

0

Sabrina Carpenter joined a roster of celebrities at the highly anticipated wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, which took place at the iconic Madison Square Garden on Friday.

Prior to the event, many dedicated Swift fans speculated whether the singer of “Manchild” would be included in the bridal party, with rumors swirling for months about her being a potential bridesmaid for Swift.

However, the duo opted out of a traditional bridal party altogether, appointing Swift’s brother, Austin, as her ‘man of honor’ and Kelce’s brother, Jason, as his best man.

Despite these changes, Carpenter, 27, was among the select few to attend the exclusive affair, leaving the venue in the early hours of Saturday after an eventful evening.

As she exited, Carpenter maintained a discreet presence, donning a black lace veil over her head while making her way into a waiting limousine.

She appeared deep in conversation with a mystery companion as the car pulled away from Madison Square Garden.

The bridesmaid rumors weren’t exactly pulled from thin air.

Carpenter has become one of Swift’s closest confidantes in recent years, opening multiple legs of the Eras Tour before the pair teamed up on the title track of The Life of a Showgirl.

The latest peek inside the wedding comes after fellow singer Maren Morris revealed the personalized favor Swift and Kelce handed out to guests.

The morning after the lavish celebration, Morris shared a series of glamorous Instagram snaps from the event before giving fans a closer look at the custom keepsake tucked away in the final photo.

The personalized handkerchief featured the couple’s bespoke wedding logo, made up of two intertwined Ts framed by hearts, alongside the wedding date, July 3, 2026, and the location, New York City.

In a sweet nod to the bride’s music, the memento also included the opening lyric from Swift’s 2014 hit Blank Space: ‘So it’s gonna be forever…’

Morris even paid tribute to the newlyweds in her caption, quoting another Swift classic as she wrote: ‘Baby just say yes,’ referencing the singer’s hit Love Story.

But the embroidered handkerchief wasn’t the only lavish gift guests took home during the wedding weekend.

Those invited to Thursday night’s intimate rehearsal dinner for around 100 of the couple’s closest family members and friends also left with velvet gift boxes embossed with the newlyweds’ intertwined ‘TT’ monogram.

According to Page Six, each box contained a champagne flute adorned with real diamonds, along with a frayed fabric card printed with what appeared to be the garden from Swift and Kelce’s now-famous engagement photos.

Guests also didn’t waste much time sharing details from inside the tightly guarded ceremony itself.

Just hours after the festivities wrapped, AMC CEO Adam Aron posted – before later deleting – an unusually detailed account of the ceremony, describing the couple’s vows as ‘long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent and endearing.’

‘Then the vows. Long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent and endearing explorations by each as to how they met, why they want to be with each other for all eternity, the promises they made in joining their much-beloved two whole families (Kelce’s and Swift’s) as one, and committing to their new mutual life together,’ he wrote.

Aron also revealed the transformed Madison Square Garden was draped in peach and white, while Swift stunned in a white gown with a long veiled train and Kelce wore a white tuxedo before the pair sealed the ceremony with what he described as ‘a sweep you off your feet kiss.’

5 Key Insights as Trump’s New Accounts Make Their Debut

(NEXSTAR) — Excitement is mounting as the eagerly anticipated Trump accounts designed for children prepare to welcome their first contributions.

With over 6 million registrations already recorded, these savings and investment accounts, according to the Treasury Department, promise to be a game-changer. Established under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Trump accounts are akin to retirement accounts, designed to grow alongside your child’s journey into adulthood.

Once they reach the age of 18, young beneficiaries will gain access to these funds, usable for specific expenses.

As the official rollout nears on July 4, there are some key details families should be aware of to fully benefit from these accounts.

How to sign up and access Trump accounts

If you have yet to sign up or if you’re anticipating the arrival of your little one, rest assured there’s still an opportunity to get involved. Simply complete Form 4547, conveniently available on the official Trump account website.

You will need your information as well as your child’s. You will also be asked if you would like to receive the optional $1,000 seed money from the Treasury, should your child qualify. More details can be found here. Accounts are free to start.

Who is eligible for a Trump account?

Any U.S. child with a Social Security number who is under the age of 18 qualifies for a Trump account. If their Social Security card reads “Valid for Work Only with DHS Authorization,” the IRS says their Social Security number is considered “valid only as long as the DHS authorization is valid.”

The age of your child and where you live will impact whether or not they receive seed funds to kickstart their account. Millions qualify for at least $250 in seed money.

The largest start-up money currently available is the one-time, optional deposit of $1,000 from the Treasury Department for all children born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 21, 2028. For currently eligible children, this seed money is expected to be available by July 4.

An initiative driven by first lady Melania Trump also aims to expand access to children in foster care. State, territorial and tribal child welfare agencies have been called on to open a Trump account for the eligible children under their care. Nearly two dozen states have already pledged to allow state agencies to begin the registration process.

Who can contribute to Trump accounts?

Essentially, anyone could contribute, though there are limits on certain contributions.

Seed funds from the local, state or federal government, as well as philanthropic efforts, can be added to accounts. These funds do not count toward contribution caps.

Contributions can also come from you, friends, family and other adults, though these funds have a $5,000 annual cap. Your employer can make contributions, with an annual cap of $2,500, which counts against the aforementioned $5,000. Previously announced employer contributions from several companies are also available.

These caps will be adjusted yearly based on inflation, the IRS said.

What can Trump accounts be used for?

When your child turns 18, they can use the accrued funds for education costs, a home purchase or to start a business.

There may be additional tax on early distributions from the account, and the IRS notes that there may be exceptions “such as for distributions for higher education expenses or first home purchases.”

How large could Trump accounts become?

Like retirement accounts, this will vary.

Let’s say you start an account for your child, who is eligible to receive the $1,000 seed funds from the Treasury, but no additional contributions are made. If the S&P 500 continues its annual growth rate of 10.5%, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent previously predicted the account could grow to roughly $600,000 by the time your child reaches retirement age.

An analysis by the Council of Economic Advisers suggested the account of a child born in 2026 could be worth more than $300,000 by the time they turn 18 if the maximum annual contributions are made. By 28, the account could be worth more than $1 million, under a high-yield scenario.

The IRS explains that the “growth period” for the accounts will end on Dec. 31 of the year before the child turns 18.

As Trump accounts launch, the Treasury is warning parents to be aware of scams. Official emails about the accounts will come from the address “no-reply@TrumpAccounts.Treasury.gov.” The Treasury is not contacting parents and guardians via phone call or text message. If you need to contact support, you will find in-app and online callback requests.

You should also only access the account online, via TrumpAccounts.gov, or via the mobile app.

70-Year-Old Woman on Routine Walk Injured in Unprovoked Shooting

Inset: Kevin Millares (Orange County Sheriff’s Office). Background: A section of the 1000 block of Egan Drive in Orlando, Fla. (Google Maps).

Tragedy struck in a quiet Orlando neighborhood when a 70-year-old woman was attacked during her routine morning walk near a local bus stop. Authorities reported that a man approached her stealthily from behind and shot her three times.

Kevin Millares, aged 27, is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, as detailed in court records obtained by Law & Crime. During his court appearance on Thursday, Millares entered a plea of not guilty against the charges.

The incident unfolded in the vicinity of the 1000 block of Egan Drive. A local resident, who had been outside his home, witnessed a shirtless man clad in black shorts. Finding the individual’s behavior suspicious, the resident retrieved his firearm from inside his house, as noted in an affidavit filed in Orange County.

Upon stepping back outside, the witness saw the suspect approach the elderly woman at the bus stop and fire three shots into her back before fleeing the scene, as documented in the court filings.

The witness did not hear the woman or the suspect say anything before the shooting. Afterward, he called 911.

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, and paramedics helped transport her to a hospital. It was there that she spoke with officers.

“She advised she was on her daily walk around her neighborhood when she observed an individual, she was not familiar with walking towards her,” the affidavit states. “While near the bus stop, she turned around to walk away from the male and he continued walking towards her and shot her three times in the back.”

The woman said she did not know the man and was “unsure of the reasoning for the shooting.”

Investigators determined that Millares was their suspect, and when they went to a residence where they believed he was, said they found “an unspent Hornady .380 bullet inside of a magazine,” the same type of bullet allegedly found at the crime scene.

“In the master bedroom there were a black pair of shorts and a pair of black and white slides on the floor, which match the video of the suspect walking around before the shooting,” authorities added.

Local CBS affiliate WKMG reported that the woman was 70 years old.

Millares was then arrested. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Trump’s Alien Hybrids Briefing: The Unexpected Presidential Quip

0

It was a case of a close call from the realm of the supernatural, involving none other than Representative Schiff.

In an extraordinary claim, a congressman has suggested that President Trump made a cosmic joke after supposedly being briefed about alien “hybrids” living secretly among us.

During a recent episode of the podcast American Alchemy, Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) shared that, at one point, Trump was informed about the existence of hybrids—beings that might be a mix of extraterrestrial and human.

Adding a humorous twist, Burlison recounted that Trump, upon hearing this, quipped, “You mean like Adam Schiff?” This remark was reportedly passed on by people familiar with the meeting.

Burlison commented that he’s unsure if the tale is factual or fabricational, particularly referencing the joke. Nonetheless, he remarked, “I could totally believe that he would say something like that.”

As a Golden State congressman, Schiff, now a senator there, led the first impeachment effort against Trump in 2020. He also served on the House committee investigating the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump has not been shy about his distaste for the Democrat alternatively nicknaming him “Shifty Schiff,” “Pencil Neck Adam Schiff,” “Little Adam Schitt,” and “Watermelon head.”

Besides alien hybrids, Trump has also been briefed on crashed spacecraft and non-human biological remains, claimed UFO whistleblower David Grusch in a 2025 interview on Fox News.

“Certainly members of this current administration are very, very well aware of this reality. Certainly the current president is very knowledgeable on the subject and I trust his leadership on this,” Grusch told Brett Baer last November.

Grusch, a former senior intelligence officer at the National Reconnaissance Office and the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency and an Air Force veteran, claimed on June 9 outside of Congress that there is a “continuum” of types of alien life that the US government is aware of including “corporeal bipedal” human-like creatures and “sentient plasmoid” beings.

Burlison even speculated that Trump has been briefed on the supposed existence of alien “Nordics,” which are said to be Scandinavian-looking, humanoid beings from another planet who some joke could resemble Norwegian World Cup team star Erling Haaland.

“Wasn’t [Trump] briefed on Nordics or something like Nordic aliens?” the “American Alchemy” host asked Burlison Thursday.

“Yeah something like that,” the lawmaker replied.

This weekend, numerous iconic sites in Australia are set to illuminate in red, white, and blue hues, though not every location will participate.

Landmarks in cities like Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Darwin (detailed list below) will don the colours of the American flag in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Declaration of Independence.

The US embassy and consulates across Australia expressed their “gratitude to our Australian friends” for joining in the celebration, noting that the lighting symbolizes the “enduring friendship” shared by both nations.

Erika Olson, chargée d’affaires of the US Mission to Australia, highlighted, “For 250 years, the United States has cherished the foundational ideals of liberty, equality, and self-governance.”

She further remarked, “Witnessing these colours across Australia powerfully reiterates the strong ties between our countries and the values we jointly uphold.”

However, public buildings in South Australia, the ACT, and Tasmania won’t be taking part, nor will the Sydney Opera House.

The illuminations come as Australian sentiment toward the Trump administration remains low, with recent polling showing most Australians view the second Trump administration unfavourably.

A show of reverence or favour-currying?

Jared Mondschein, director of research at the University of Sydney’s United States Studies Centre (USSC), says the illuminations reflect Australia’s long-standing ties to the US rather than any attempt to court the current administration.

“It shows reverence — our most cherished icons in the country showing another flag,” Mondschein told SBS News.

“Landmarks are very visible and very known to the public. When you see any sort of different orientation on them, that is striking and attention-grabbing.”

He points to the US’ role in World War Two and argues the ideas behind the Declaration of Independence helped shape Australia’s own democratic system — sometimes dubbed a ‘Washminster’ model for borrowing from both the Westminster and US systems.

Asked whether the illuminations might be seen as a show of goodwill toward the current administration, Mondschein rejected the idea.

“I don’t think it’s really emblematic of any one city thinking that they need to curry favour with the Trump administration or with American politicians,” he said.

Even with Australians largely unfavourable towards Trump personally, he argues the public still separates the president from the country and the alliance itself.

Two graphs showing latest polling on how Australians feel about the United States.

New polling of 1,000 Australians in May 2026 by the USSC found that roughly a third (32 per cent) of Australians believe the second Trump administration has been very bad for Australia.

Only one in five believes the US is mostly helpful in Asia, while 36 per cent see the US as mostly harmful in the region.

Looking to the future, Australians are split between agreeing (45 per cent) and being unsure (45 per cent) about whether the US will become a better ally of Australia after Trump’s presidency ends.

Mondschein adds that it’s not worth trying to guess whether Trump himself will notice the gesture.

“He can be mercurial and switch positions quickly,” he said. “At the end of the day, I think Australia pursuing its own interests is the way to go — and that includes celebrating its history with the United States.”

Not the first time — but not everyone’s on board

Illuminating landmarks for foreign anniversaries isn’t new in Australia.

The Sydney Opera House has been lit up for St Patrick’s Day, for the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, and in solidarity colours for Ukraine and Israel. Landmarks in Brisbane and Perth were lit up for Bolivia’s bicentenary last year.

The Opera House and Canberra’s Parliament House were also illuminated in the US colours in 2021 for the 70th anniversary of the ANZUS alliance.

This time, though, South Australia, Tasmania, and the ACT are sitting out — though the US ambassador’s residence in Canberra and the consul general’s residence in Sydney will still be illuminated.

A Sydney Opera House spokesperson confirmed the sails will not be lit, pointing to updated guidelines.

“In late 2024, the NSW Government introduced updated guidelines for projections onto the Opera House sails, to ensure the Opera House is being used appropriately and in line with its World Heritage status, as well as meeting community expectations,” a spokesperson at the Sydney Opera House told SBS News.

“Under the guidelines, the projection of national flags on the Opera House sails, other than the Australian or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders flags in limited circumstances, is not permitted.”

The site previously saw criticism after being illuminated in the colours of the Israeli flag after Hamas’ October 7 2023 attack. However, a spokesperson maintained the rule change was independent of this.

Mondschein cautions against reading too much into the omission.

“I don’t think that one time not having the US flag is somehow any insulting omission to the US-Australia alliance,” he said.

A spokesperson for Parliament House in Canberra pointed SBS News to the building’s Illuminations and Lighting Projections Policy.

The policy says that “light projections may be displayed on the Parliament House façade to mark cultural commemorations and celebrations” and that such displays “must adhere to standards befitting the building’s significance and preserve its dignity at all times”.

It also says: “In general, requests from charity, commercial, political and all other organisations for illuminations will not be approved.”

SBS News has sought comment from the NSW and South Australian state governments.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding Guests Spill Out of Hotels After Celebrations

As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding attendees prepare to depart from their luxurious hotel accommodations, they’re battling tired eyes and sipping on extra-large cups of coffee to shake off the morning haze before checking out.

Zach Ertz, once a prominent player for the Philadelphia Eagles, and his spouse Julie seemed fatigued as they stepped out on Saturday morning. Julie was spotted grasping what looked like an oversized iced coffee while precariously securing her claw hairpin to her tank top.

The couple’s laid-back travel attire starkly contrasted their glamorous appearance from the previous night. Julie opted for jeans and a tank top, while Zach chose to wear basketball shorts paired with a white T-shirt.

Meanwhile, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford embraced a comfortable look as well, donning a white T-shirt and baseball cap, effectively masking his weary eyes with a pair of dark sunglasses.

Other guests departing the upscale Manhattan venue also favored comfort over fashion, likely due to New York City’s current heat wave, with temperatures projected to soar to 96 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday.

The guests got barely any sleep after Swift and Kelce’s wedding, as they were up late partying away inside Madison Square Garden, where the couple hosted a garden-themed reception that also had arcade games.

Very little about the party has escaped the lips of guests, who were contracted under an iron-clad NDA leading up to the wedding.

Guests were even said to have received last-minute information about the nuptials in order to keep everything under a tight lid.

The couple also celebrated with more than just sports stars, as Swift’s Hollywood friends, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Hugh Grant, were also seen at the ceremony.

AMC CEO Adam Aron has given the most insight into the beautiful ceremony, writing in a now-deleted X post that the sports arena ‘did not look like Madison Square Garden.’

‘Immediately upon entry, everything… floors, walls, ceilings… was draped in peach and white. Large blown-up pictures of Taylor and Travis at each age, year by year from one-year-old to late teenager-hood were on display.’

He said the space was ‘devoid of any notion that a basketball or hockey game [had] ever shared the space.’

‘Somehow, magically, someone created an outdoor garden at a lush countryside retreat,’ he wrote.

‘Everything draped off this time in green and white. Real flowers and I think artificial trees welcomed fifteen rows of maybe 75 or so chairs. They say there were around one thousand attendees, but surprisingly, it all felt intimate and small.

‘It was such a privilege to be THERE,’ he wrote.

He also remarked on the couple’s vows, which both wrote their own, stating they were ‘long, entertaining, personal, charming, emotional, irreverent, and endearing.’

‘What was clear above all else was simply this: their profound love. This is no small love. Each at the absolute pinnacle of their worlds. Each so obviously head over heels about having found their soulmate.’
