Ag Health Organization Launches Comprehensive Online Series to Educate on Dementia

The Sangamon County Department of Public Health is actively promoting a complimentary educational series designed to assist caregivers of individuals living or working on farms who exhibit symptoms of dementia. This initiative is set to enhance the support system for those affected within agricultural settings.

Organized by the Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health, the “Farm Families Coping with Dementia” (FFCD) series is an engaging online program consisting of four parts. It aims to address the unique safety and caregiving challenges that arise when dementia occurs in rural and agricultural environments—a niche often overlooked.

NASA Unveils Pioneering Artemis III Crew for Historic 2024 Lunar Mission

0

NEW YORK — On Tuesday, NASA introduced the team set to embark on the Artemis III mission, a crucial step in the agency’s ambitious plan to eventually land astronauts on the lunar surface.

This announcement follows Artemis II’s historic journey around the moon two months ago, a mission that broke the Apollo 13 distance record.

The Artemis III crew comprises NASA astronauts Randy Bresnik, Frank Rubio, Andre Douglas, and the European Space Agency’s Luca Parmitano. While they will not journey to the moon or touch down on its surface, their mission involves orbiting Earth to practice docking their Orion spacecraft with two lunar landers.

“We extend our best wishes to the Artemis III crew for a successful journey,” stated NASA administrator Jared Isaacman.

SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin are competing to supply the lunar landers. The demonstration mission, expected to last two weeks, is slated for 2027. Recently, Blue Origin faced a challenge when a massive rocket exploded during an engine test at a Florida launch pad, shaking nearby areas and lighting up the sky with a fiery orange blaze.

NASA’s Jeremy Parsons said the setback is a learning opportunity and that the space agency is confident Blue Origin’s rocket will be ready in time.

NASA’s Artemis program aims to return astronauts to the moon’s surface for the first time since the 1970s. A recent revamp of the program announced by Isaacman aims to fast-track it similarly to the Apollo era, adding the upcoming spaceflight around Earth before eyeing a lunar landing in 2028.

“We are certainly humbled as a crew to be able to be your crew that executes this Artemis III mission in space,” said Bresnik, Artemis III commander.

Added Douglas, mission specialist: “My brain — it is going a mile a minute right now. But my heart, it is so warm. It is so full.”

In May, NASA awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to four companies, including Blue Origin, to build landers, rovers and drones for a future moon base. Isaacman said the goal of the moon base is to lay the foundation for a Mars expedition.

Iran Intensifies Crackdown on Dissenters as Internet Restrictions Tighten

0

The Islamic Republic of Iran has intensified its crackdown on dissent, particularly targeting activists and political opponents through an alarming rise in executions. This surge, however, remains shrouded in secrecy due to stringent internet censorship and frequent communication blackouts enforced by the regime.

Following the widespread protests that erupted in January, the government in Tehran has responded with a brutal campaign aimed at quelling opposition. Human rights organizations have been closely monitoring the situation, despite the challenges posed by the regime’s efforts to obscure the full extent of its actions.

According to the Iran Human Rights Society, a staggering 784 executions have been recorded in 2026 alone. A spokesperson for the organization informed News Media that these numbers reveal a rapidly increasing trend, with a significant uptick noted since March. The spokesperson further highlighted that the execution of political prisoners has reached levels unprecedented in the last 37 years.

In a chilling illustration of the regime’s ruthless measures, a recent report titled “KILLING OFF THE COUNTRY” details Iran’s execution of dozens and the arrest of over 4,000 individuals as part of its crackdown on perceived opposition.

A woman laying down flowers at a memorial site in Paris

Amidst these grim developments, acts of remembrance continue. In Paris, France, a woman was seen laying down flowers to honor the victims of Iran’s executions during a rally held on May 13, 2025. This poignant gesture serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for justice and human rights in the face of such harsh repression.

A State Department official told News Media that “we are aware of disturbing reports about the recent surge in executions in Iran.” The official noted that “we strongly condemn the Iranian regime’s use of executions to punish people for exercising basic human rights, including Iranians peacefully protesting for a better life.”

The official said that “for decades, Iranians have been subjected to torture and sham trials resulting in executions and severe punishments, often with coerced confessions as the only evidence presented against them.”

According to information provided to News Media by the Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) on June 4, the Islamic Republic of Iran executed at least 18 prisoners between May 31 and June 1. These included 12 prisoners hanged on May 31, and an additional six prisoners executed on June 1, one of whom was said to be “hanged in public with utmost brutality.”

The NCRI has counted a total of 32 executions between March 19 and June 1. These included eight members of Iranian dissident organization People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOE/MEK) and 24 participants in Iran’s January 2026 protests.

In documents provided to News Media, the NCRI said on June 7 that there was “an imminent risk of execution” for five political prisoners in the Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, four of whom were sentenced to death because they were charged with being members of PMOI/MEK.

Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI, posted on X a call for “urgent action” from the U.N. “to prevent the execution.”

Days earlier on June 2, following two other executions against January protesters, Rajavi said on X that the “clerical regime has committed another horrific crime in Iran.” She called on the U.N. Security Council and European Union “to decisively condemn these criminal executions and take effective action to stop the killing of political prisoners and protesters in Iran.”

The Iran Human Rights Society echoed NCRI’s account of 18 recent executions between May 31 and June 1. Their representative explained that despite the internet blackout, they receive reports from “a network of prison sources, prisoners’ families, lawyers, and local contacts” and explained that “all reports are reviewed and cross-checked through multiple independent sources before publication.” Though they say “internet restrictions make documentation more difficult,” they stated they “continue to receive, verify, and document information.”

State executions rise in Iran.

Alp Toker, the director of NetBlocks, a global internet monitor, told News Media that “internet connectivity in Iran is largely restored but the service that is available remains limited compared to the state of things before the protests and the war this year. For most users, in practice, that means international access is slow with indications of throttling and there’s also increased filtering, particularly targeting messaging apps.

“It’s been in this limbo state since the restoration with no significant change for better or worse,” he said.

However, the Iran Human Rights Society representative noted that the actual number of executions is “almost certainly” higher than the figure they have captured. “The ruling authorities in Iran frequently carry out executions in secret and do not publicly announce many of them,” the representative explained. Additionally, the representative added that “a significant number of executions, particularly in remote areas or locations with limited access to information, may remain undocumented or reach us only after a considerable delay.”

The representative also noted that the quantity of executions the Iran Human Rights Society documents “has consistently been lower than the actual number carried out.”

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Mai Sato, did not respond to News Media’s request for comment on the increased executions in Iran.

Wealthy Defendant Struggles to Breathe During Court Hearing for Teen’s Murder

0

In a Florida courtroom, real estate developer George Pino found himself overwhelmed with emotion, needing the support of his attorney after experiencing a highly charged moment during his trial. This came just a day after his emotional breakdown led to a temporary halt in proceedings.

Pino, aged 54, is facing serious charges of manslaughter and felony vessel homicide related to a tragic boat accident in 2022. The incident resulted in the death of 17-year-old Lucy Fernandez and caused permanent injuries to 18-year-old Katerina Puig, as well as severe harm to several others. At the time of the accident, Pino was at the helm of a boat carrying his daughter’s friends.

On the trial’s opening day, an emotional Pino broke down, leading the presiding judge to pause the proceedings. His visible distress, which included tears and sobbing in front of the courtroom, prompted the jury’s dismissal for the remainder of the day. The moment was captured and quickly spread across social media, drawing widespread attention.

Hours into the start of his trial on Monday, the judge in Pino’s case paused the proceedings after the millionaire developer broke down in tears and wept in front of the courtroom.

The jury was dismissed for the day due to the outburst, with footage of Pino appearing to suffer an emotional breakdown going viral on social media.

The defendant again struggled to contain himself on Tuesday as his trial continued, with his attorney Howard Srebnick seen putting his arm around his client and comforting him through his case.

Pino’s second emotional moment came as Fernandez’s father Andres took the stand, and explained that he had known Pino for years and their daughters had grown up together.

Attendees in the courtroom were seen crying during Fernandez’s testimony as he said he raced to the scene after hearing of the boat crash, and searched for hours before eventually finding his daughter’s body in the water.

On Monday, Pino’s trial was paused when he suffered an emotional breakdown

In Andres Fernandez’s testimony, he said he and his wife waited for hours to eventually find their daughter in hospital, and recalled a harrowing conversation with police in her final moments.

He said he tried to remove a piece of fiberglass from the boat from her head, but was stopped by an officer because that was part of the evidence in the case.

Andres said he then turned to his wife and said, ‘Our daughter is now evidence.’

The father grew emotional at times during his testimony, as supporters in the audience were seen also weeping as he spoke of his daughter.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez also condemned Pino’s family and friends for comforting the defendant while he struggled through the testimony.

She said it was inappropriate for them to hug Pino during sidebars, and told them, ‘This is not a sports bar or social event.’

Pino’s emotional displays on Tuesday came after the judge previously dismissed jurors for the day on Monday because he broke down in tears in front of them.

The moment unfolded as prosecutor Laura Adams finished her opening statements, and Pino’s own defense lawyer began laying out his arguments.

When Adams then saw Pino start to sob and shake, she called for a delay in the proceedings saying his breakdown was ‘inappropriate’ for the jurors to witness, Local 10 News reports.

Judge Mendez agreed, telling Pino’s attorney he is ‘going to need to be able to control himself’ and later adding, ‘It’s not proper at all for the jury to be witnessing the emotional behaviors’ as she requested the jury be removed from the courtroom.

Pino, meanwhile, stepped out to compose himself – but his lead attorney, Howard Srebnick, told the judge he was concerned about his client’s health.

‘I don’t think he’s well,’ the lawyer said, according to the Miami Herald.

If convicted, Pino faces a minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison, with the possibility of facing significant prison time appearing to weigh heavily on the real estate developer.

After a short recess on Monday as Miami Fire Rescue crews checked Pino out, the judge ultimately agreed to dismiss the jury for the day – saying opening statements would resume on Tuesday morning.

Pino is facing felony charges in connection with a devastating crash on September 4, 2022, when Pino and his wife, Cecilia Pino, were hosting several teen girls for their daughter’s 18th birthday party.

All of the girls on the boat were lifelong friends of Carolina Pino and students at Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Lourdes Academy.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Pino was piloting the 29-foot vessel back to the dock when he hit a channel marker, while speeding at around 50 miles per hour, near Boca Chita Key.

Pino allegedly said another boat came by creating a big wake and when he turned to check and make sure all of the girls were okay, he hit the marker, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.

The boat crash knocked everyone out of the boat and tore a large hole in the side of the vessel, injuring 11 of the passengers.

Six of them were taken to the hospital, where Fernandez would later die.

Police said Pino admitted to drinking two beers before the crash, but insisted he was not impaired.

In Fernandez’s testimony on Tuesday, he said his family had known Pino’s for years, and said he was not concerned that Pino was drinking a beer while sailing with his daughter as he believed he was under control.

Pino was never administered a sobriety test, yet when the boat was pulled from the water the day after the crash, 61 empty alcohol bottles – including an empty bottle of champagne – were found on it, according to the Miami Herald.

Pino has admitted to piloting the vessel at the time of the crash, with prosecutors arguing he recklessly sailed the boat in the moments leading up to the tragedy.

At the start of his trial, Adams told the jury that Pino allegedly accelerated his 29-foot Robalo boat into a steel channel marker, sending himself and all 13 passengers into the water.

‘This is a case about responsibility and accountability, or, I should say, the lack of both by the defendant,’ the prosecutor said.

She went on to claim that before the crash, Pino was on the wrong side of the channel and was speeding when he smashed into the marker, which had a green neon sign on top of it.

In the nine seconds before the crash, Adams said, Pino was on a ‘collision course with the marker’ – which he could not stop because he was not wearing a kill switch to stop the engine.

She further argued that alcohol was a factor considering the teenage girls, who were underage, were provided with alcohol and Pino admitted drinking ‘two beers’ that day.

‘There was alcohol, lots of it stocked on that boat,’ Adams said, referring to the 61 empty and partially empty bottles and cans police found on the vessel after salvaging it from the water the following day.

‘This was not a mere accident or momentary lapse,’ the prosecutor continued, according to the Herald. ‘Lucy is dead because the defendant failed to do the most basic things the rules of the water require.’

New York’s Iconic Train Station Set for $8 Billion Transformation with Sunlit Spaces and Notable Naming

0

In 1963, the demolition of Manhattan’s original Pennsylvania Station signaled the loss of an architectural marvel. This Beaux Arts masterpiece, adorned with Roman-style columns and housing the largest indoor space of its time, was replaced by Madison Square Garden. While the arena became the home court for the NBA’s New York Knicks and the NHL’s New York Rangers, train commuters were relegated to a subterranean network of narrow, low-ceilinged passageways that starkly contrasted with the grandeur of the past.

The transformation of the station was met with criticism, encapsulated by architectural historian Vincent Scully’s poignant reflection: “Through Pennsylvania Station one entered the city like a god. One scuttles in now like a rat.” His words highlighted the collective sense of loss felt by many New Yorkers.

However, a bold new vision aims to restore the station’s former magnificence. Unveiled on Monday, the proposed design harks back to the opulence of the station’s 1910 inception. The renderings showcase a stately stone facade, lined with grand columns leading to an inviting entrance. Inside, travelers would be greeted by a bright, open concourse with ceilings soaring over 50 feet high. The design incorporates bronze finishes and intricate details, including a bas-relief of New York City’s skyline and a grand station clock, evoking a sense of timeless elegance.

But a dramatic new vision for the busiest transit hub in the Western Hemisphere calls for a return to the original station’s grandeur from 1910.

Renderings released Monday feature a rectangular stone facade lined with imposing columns along a grand entryway. Inside, a sunlight-drenched concourse boasts soaring ceilings more than 50 feet (15 meters) high in places. There are bronze finishes and other ornamental details, like a bas-relief of the city’s famous skyline and a large station clock.

Inside one entryway, an inside wall bears the seal and name of President Donald Trump, who had Amtrak assume control of the project last year after decades of political infighting among transit agencies and opposition to moving MSG from billionaire owner James Dolan.

Trump has floated renaming his hometown station in his honor as he’s sought to burnish his legacy through public works projects, from a massive new White House ballroom to a triumphal arch.

For now, though, the name etched across the proposed grand facade would still read “Pennsylvania Station,” according to the renderings. They were released by Amtrak, which owns the terminal, and Penn Transformation Partners, the design and development consortium picked for the project.

Proposal aims to make Penn Station an icon again

The proposed design draws from the ornate, Beaux-Arts design of Grand Central Terminal, the city’s other major rail hub, as well as Art Deco landmarks like the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center, according to lead design architect Vishaan Chakrabarti.

The vision, he said, is to restore Penn Station’s place among the pantheon of the city’s greatest landmarks.

“There was this fearless embrace of ornament and decoration that in some ways we’ve lost,” Chakrabarti said. “We want to bring some of that sense of craftsmanship back.”

The redesign is projected to cost roughly $8 billion, and construction is targeted to begin before the end of 2027, officials said Monday. Penn Station would remain in operation throughout as the project progresses in phases over about six years.

More than 600,000 commuters traverse the rail hub on any given workday, or more than the three major international airports that serve greater New York City — John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty — combined.

Knicks and Rangers home arena would remain at the site

Plans floated over the decades have called for relocating MSG, but the plan is for the “World’s Most Famous Arena” to remain in place. A theater owned by MSG and built directly above the tracks, however, would have to be razed.

The developers and MSG’s owner have reached an agreement on this critical point, but the final terms — including payment — are still being negotiated. That’s according to Andy Byford, a former New York City subway chief who Amtrak named as a special adviser to oversee the redevelopment.

Transit advocates complain the process has been shrouded in secrecy.

“It’s really important that there be public input and involvement,” said Lisa Daglian, who heads a group that advises the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates New York’s subway and two commuter rail systems.

“We don’t need another megamall or monument and certainly not at the cost of billions in local revenue or by putting existing services at risk,” added Danny Pearlstein of the transit advocacy group Riders Alliance.

Byford said more details will be revealed in the months ahead, including a more detailed breakdown of costs, as the developers refine the preliminary designs and the project goes through the extensive federal environmental review process.

But he vowed no fare hikes to cover project costs and no plans for the government to condemn and take surrounding properties to expand the station, as some have suggested.

At Penn Station on Tuesday, John Schoen was among the regular riders who welcomed the prospect of a more inviting commute.

“The city needs new looks. This is old,” the 55-year-old Long Island resident said. “Let’s do it. Move forward.”

Others, though, wondered how construction might worsen their commutes. James Culhane, another Long Island rider, noted parts of the station received a significant face-lift in recent years that brought in new eateries, more natural light and other improvements.

“Things are operating as well as they can be,” said the 24-year-old opera stagehand. “Just use the money elsewhere.”

Jane Kim, Supported by Bernie Sanders, Moves Forward in California Insurance Commissioner Race

0

In a significant development for California’s insurance oversight, two Democratic contenders, one of whom has the backing of prominent progressive U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, have secured spots in the race following Tuesday’s primary election.

Jane Kim, a leading figure in the progressive California Working Families Party, will face off against state Senator Ben Allen in the November general election. This contest comes at a crucial time when the state’s insurance sector is grappling with the fallout from severe wildfire disasters.

Kim, who previously served as a San Francisco supervisor, gained national attention as the political director for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign. With Sanders’ endorsement, she emerged at the forefront of a packed race with 11 candidates, capturing 26.8% of the votes with 83% of ballots tallied, as reported by the Associated Press.

In a campaign advertisement, Sanders expressed his support, stating, “We need candidates who are going to take on the political establishment, the economic establishment, fight for Medicare for All, and that’s what Jane Kim is gonna do.” His endorsement undoubtedly bolstered her candidacy in a competitive field.

Meanwhile, Allen, known for his legislative efforts to aid fire victims, holds 19.6% of the vote share. His policies and actions in response to California’s recurring fire crises have been central to his platform, setting the stage for a potentially impactful election in November.

The closest Republican to make it to the runoff was insurance expert Stacy Korsgaden, who had nearly 16%.

The California wildfires last year in Los Angeles have amplified the importance of the insurance commissioner. Some fire victims struggling to get claims resolved have called for current Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara’s resignation.

Insurance, as a result, has also been a subject of scrutiny in the governor’s race. Democratic frontrunner Xavier Becerra caught some attention for promising to cap homeowners’ insurance premiums, which some experts said a governor cannot do.

“I will call in the insurance commissioner,” said Becerra, a former state attorney general. “I will say, ‘I am going to call for a freeze. If you don’t want to go there, then I will call for an investigation of the way you are conducting your business.’”

While Becerra has insisted he would have the ability to do so, California voters passed Proposition 103, a landmark law that sought to protect consumers from arbitrary rate hikes by requiring insurers to get the approval from the state insurance commissioner before raising rates.

At a forum, Allen agreed that the governor does not have the authority. Kim didn’t say yes or no but noted it would be an “interesting case study.”

Karoline Leavitt’s Heartwarming Maternity Leave: Adorable Family Moments Captured

0

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt gave followers a glimpse into her new life as a mom of two as she shared a series of adorable photos from her maternity leave.

At 28, Leavitt recently celebrated the arrival of her second child, a daughter named Viviana, affectionately called ‘Vivi’. She and her 60-year-old husband, Nicholas Riccio, welcomed Vivi on May 1. The couple is already parents to their son Niko, who is on the brink of turning two in July.

This week, Leavitt took to Instagram to share heartwarming photos capturing her family’s precious moments. In one touching image, Niko is seen gazing at his newborn sister as she peacefully sleeps in her car seat. Another charming shot features Leavitt in a breezy white dress, holding Niko, who is dressed in a t-shirt adorned with an American flag.

Additional photos showcase tender family moments, including Leavitt cuddling Vivi on a rocking chair with a serene smile, and her husband cradling their daughter lovingly.

The family’s adventures extend beyond the comforts of home. Leavitt also posted snapshots from their visit to Arlington National Cemetery and a relaxing day at the beach, where Niko is seen watching over his little sister with care.

Among the delightful images is a scene of Vivi in a pink onesie with Niko nearby, peeking over her stroller during a family walk, painting a picture of sibling bonding.

The last photo that she captured showed a tender moment between Leavitt and the newborn, as she held her tiny fingers in her hands.

‘May memories,’ Leavitt wrote in the caption of the photos. ‘So grateful for this precious time with my sweet babies.’

In the comments section, many of her coworkers and fellow Trump aides chimed in with words of support, including his new nomination for United States Ambassador to Jamaica, Kari Lake.

‘This is so very precious. It looks like you are enjoying every second of this moment. We are so happy for you and your beautiful family,’ Lake wrote.

Leavitt’s executive assistant, Kieghan Nangle, typed, ‘Sweet mama.’

Her sister-in-law, Kara, wrote, ‘My favorites,’ followed by a pink heart emoji.

Leavitt has not yet announced a date for her return to the White House as Press Secretary.

In her absence, there was no formal replacement for the political star, as other members of the administration have been covering for her and holding press conferences, including Vice President JD Vance.

However, Leavitt worked down to the wire this pregnancy, as she took to the podium at 39 weeks pregnant, during what was supposed to be the start of her maternity leave in the wake of the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April.

The annual event took a terrifying turn after a gunman attempted to target members of the Trump administration after guests had already posed up a storm on the red carpet.

The suspected gunman is California teacher Cole Tomas Allen, 31, who is facing a number of charges including attempting to assassinate the President.

He allegedly mocked the lack of security at the event and on his journey to DC in his chilling manifesto sent moments before he opened fire at the Washington Hilton on Saturday.

Surveillance footage showed Allen attempted to bolt past a security checkpoint while armed with a shotgun, a handgun and several knives.

Attendees were dressed to the nines for the big event with major power players in attendance, including President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and FBI Director Kash Patel.

In early May, President Trump announced that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner would be rescheduled for July 24.

The night ‘will feature significantly enhanced safety measures,’ per WHCA President Weijia Jiang.

It’s unclear whether Leavitt will be back from maternity leave to attend the newly scheduled dinner.

Since becoming the face of the White House last year, Leavitt’s marriage to Riccio, a real estate developer, has raised eyebrows due to their 31-year age gap.

In March, Leavitt admitted they have a ‘very atypical love story,’ and said they first met when she unsuccessfully ran for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022.

‘A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,’ Leavitt told Megyn Kelly at the time.

‘I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends. And then we fell in love.’

When The Megyn Kelly Show host asked if there had been any thought in her mind of ‘I can’t date him, he’s 59 and I’m 27?’, Leavitt confirmed that she had dealt with initial doubts about how the age gap would impact the relationship.

‘Yes, of course. I mean, it’s a very atypical love story, but he’s incredible,’ she gushed. ‘He is my greatest supporter, he’s my best friend and he’s my rock.’

Knicks’ Mike Brown Engages in Intriguing Exchange with Referee Prior to Foul Dispute

0

Online detectives are buzzing with curiosity as they try to unravel a dialogue between Mike Brown and referee Marc Davis.

The exchange took place during the Spurs’ thrilling 115-111 win over the Knicks in Game 3 on Monday night at Madison Square Garden. In the aftermath, Knicks coach Mike Brown voiced his frustrations over a significant disparity in free-throw opportunities between the teams during the second half. However, it was one particular conversation that truly captured the fans’ attention.

The specifics of Brown’s comments to Davis in the third quarter—when the Spurs were narrowly leading 81-80—remain murky. It seems Brown was expressing dissatisfaction with what he perceived as inconsistent foul calls.

“Over here, you called it a foul, but over there, you called it a travel,” Brown appears to say.

“Ah, s–t you’re right,” Davis is speculated to have said in response, though some commenters argued he said, “[Jalen] Brunson’s drive”

During the play, Landry Shamet was called for a personal foul on Keldon Johnson, who extended the lead to 82-80 after splitting the pair of free throws at the line but it is unclear if that is part of the discussion or not.

The Spurs are 64-for-84 at the line in the Finals, compared to 50-for-61 for the Knicks.

Afterward, Brown criticized officiating for the Spurs’ 24-to-8 free-throw attempt advantage in the second half of Game 3.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst suspects that the Knicks’ front office told Brown to complain about the officiating postgame, as the Knicks have had fewer free-throw attempts in all three games thus far.

The Knicks head back to The Garden for Game 4 Wednesday night where they will look to claim a 3-1 advantage in the NBA Finals.

Heartbreaking Footage Reveals Penn State Student’s Last Moments During Tragic Armed Robbery

Recently released surveillance footage has shed light on the tragic final moments leading up to the death of a Pennsylvania State University student during an attempted armed robbery.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, 22-year-old Billy Schmidt was near his residence when the robbery attempt unfolded early Saturday morning at around 1:30 a.m. Responding officers discovered Schmidt with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead at 1:47 a.m.

In the video, Schmidt can be heard demanding, “Give me my phone,” moments before a gunshot rings out.

Bill Schmidt, Billy’s father, shared with ABC7 that his son was returning home after watching the NBA Finals at a bar with friends. Additional footage reveals a man tossing a cellphone, followed by another person sprinting around a corner with Billy Schmidt in pursuit, before he was fatally shot.

“He was a really good person who cared about everybody and never hurt or bothered a soul, never bothered anyone and for him to get shot like that is a travesty,” Bill Schmidt said. “I’m shocked when they stole his phone that he chased them.”

His sister, Anna Schmidt, told reporters she doesn’t know how anyone could have killed her brother.

“I miss him so much, and I don’t understand how someone can do this,” Anna Schmidt said.

In a statement, Penn State University said Billy Schmidt was studying journalism at Penn State World Campus and was on track to graduate in December.

“We are heartbroken over the tragic death of William Schmidt and we share our deepest condolences with his family and friends,” the university said.

Police have not made an arrest in connection with the college student’s killing. One neighbor urged anyone with information to help police.

“I want justice, I want the kid that shot Billy to be found,” a neighbor told FOX 29. “If anyone’s out there that recognizes anything… they seem young to me. If anyone has any information or recognizes anything about the kids, I would love for them to come forward.”

Hollywood Exit: Heather Locklear, 64, Unveils Personal Reasons Behind Her Departure from the Spotlight

0

Heather Locklear bid farewell to Hollywood four decades ago, seeking a more tranquil life away from the glitz and superficiality of the entertainment industry.

In the late 1980s, the actress was thriving on television, having already made her mark with roles in “Dynasty” and “T.J. Hooker.”

Her career was about to reach new heights with “Melrose Place,” where she famously portrayed the formidable Amanda Woodward, an advertising executive.

Now 64, Locklear chose the serene landscape of Thousand Oaks, California, as her haven, located over an hour’s drive northwest of Beverly Hills.

She continues to reside in a spacious home perched atop a hill in this picturesque area, a neighborhood that counts Britney Spears, Tom Selleck, and Jamie Foxx among its notable residents.

The blonde beauty, who dates Falcon Crest veteran Lorenzo Lamas, told the Hollywood & Devine talk show that she left Hollywood because it was not her scene.

Locklear told hosts Dru Hammer – who is the mother of actor Armie Hammer – and John Luciano, ‘I don’t really hang out with Hollywood people.’

She explained, ‘I live so far away. Yeah. Like for many, many years. 40 years and stuff like that.’

The move never harmed her career.

After nearly 200 episodes of Melrose Place she had a role on Spin City with Michael J Fox for three years and then starred on LAX for a season in 2004.

Locklear has also popped up on the shows Boston Legal, Rules Of Engagement and See Jayne Run.

In 2009 she starred on eight episodes of the Melrose Place redo as she reprised her role as Woodward.

In 2012 she did three episodes of Hot In Cleveland and then was on 10 episodes of Franklin & Bash in 2013 followed by a gig on Too Close To Home in 2016.

Her last acting gig was a role as Jodi Hildebrandt in the 2024 TV movie Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story.

When she moved to Thousand Oaks 40 years ago, it was where families lived to raise their children in the quiet, predictable and wholesome atmosphere.

The hottest hangout was The Oaks Mall, which had shops, movie theaters and restaurants.

In the past decade, fancier places have popped up such as Mastro’s Steakhouse and Casalena.

Nearby is Hidden Hills where Kim and Khloe Kardashian live as well as Kylie and Kris Jenner. Jennifer Lopez recently bought a large compound there, too.

Across the 101 freeway is Calabasas where Kourtney Kardashian has a house with Travis Barker, and her ex Scott Disick owns a home in the area as well.

During the same interview, Locklear broke her silence on her romance with Lamas.

And while doing so she made a shocking claim about the Hollywood icon: she said that he was a gift from God.

Speaking on the Hollywood & Divine podcast, the actress said: ‘My new guy is very… everything.

‘I’m just like, when I tell this person I love him, I’m really saying, “I love you, God.” Because that’s what happened. It’s from God,’ she shared with the hosts. ‘I’m in the best time of my life,’ she added.

The actress first met the 68-year-old actor while posing for Playgirl magazine in 1983 but they recently reconnected and the star couldn’t be happier with her ‘new boyfriend.’

The duo made their first appearance as a couple at the Chiller Theatre Expo in April, where they greeted fans as they sat side by side.

And the actor admitted he never expected to find love with the beauty. Asked if he ever imagined things coming full circle like this, Lamas told Fox News Digital: ‘The short answer is no. I mean, I’ve been through a lot of trial and error, and she is the most amazing woman that I think I’ve ever met.’

In December, Lamas shared their Playgirl cover on X, and wrote: ‘I cannot believe that this was 43 years ago! Side note, speedos on request only #HeatherLocklear #Playgirl.’

And in April, he shared the throwback photo in another post which has since been deleted, but appeared to confirm their relationship. In November last year, the pair were spotted at a dinner party in New York City, before reuniting at Barry’s Steakhouse in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve.

Renegade actor Lamas has been married six times in the past. He has children AJ, 43, and Shayne, 41, with second wife Michele Smith, Paton, 37, with ex Daphne Ashbrook, and Alexandra, 28, Victoria, 27, and Isabella, 25, with fourth wife Shauna Sand. In June 2025, he filed for divorce from Kenna Scott after less than two years of marriage, and the former model reflected on the breakup on Instagram.

Locklear was previously married to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee before their divorce in 1993, while she tied the knot with Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora shortly after. Last year, she ended her long-term relationship with Chris Heisser, who she first dated in high school. He proposed in 2020, but they never got married, and split in 2025.
