The Chicago Cubs celebrated what seemed like a major coup by signing Alex Bregman away from the Red Sox with a substantial $175 million contract. However, the excitement has quickly turned to disappointment as Bregman’s performance has failed to meet expectations, marking a significant downturn in his career.
Bregman left Boston after just one commendable season, despite fervent appeals from Red Sox fans for him to stay. His transition to Chicago has been rocky, with his batting reaching unprecedented lows.
“I’ve been terrible,” Bregman candidly admitted following an ineffective 0-for-5 performance in a tight 2-1 extra innings defeat against the struggling Giants. “I need to play better. Offensively, it’s been awful. I’ve failed many times in this game. I’ve struggled. I’ve started slow before. I’ve started fast before. When you’re struggling, there is only one way forward, and that’s straight, head-on through it. It comes down to executing in the game.”
Initially, Bregman’s slump didn’t seem to hinder the Cubs, who enjoyed a promising start with a 29-16 record. Yet, the team has since hit a rough patch, going 5-16 in their last 21 games, causing them to fall to fourth place in the NL Central.

Bregman’s statistics reflect his struggles: a .669 OPS, a career low, along with just five home runs and 19 RBIs over 65 games. These figures are overshadowed even by players known for lighter bats, such as the Mets’ Marcus Semien, who has eight home runs and 25 RBIs, and the Yankees’ Ryan McMahon, with six home runs and 20 RBIs.
Bregman has been solid with the glove, still coming in at seventh in defensive runs saved among all third basemen.
“I haven’t executed all year,” Bregman said. “Runners in scoring position, I’ve been god-awful. I need to be better. If I’m better over the last how many games, we probably win the majority of them.”
One of the toughest moments of his season occurred on Sunday night. Bregman came to the dish in the eighth inning with runners on the corners and no one out in a 1-1 game.

Bregman was first-pitch swinging against left-hander Erik Miller, which resulted in a softly hit linedrive double play to run them out of the inning.
Bregman now leads all of baseball with 143 runners left on base this season.
In a dynamic turn of events, Karen Bass and Nithya Raman have emerged as the frontrunners in the Los Angeles mayoral primary, setting the stage for a likely showdown in the November runoff. This development comes as reality TV star Spencer Pratt slips to third place in the race.
The announcement of Raman securing the number two spot was made by Decision Desk HQ on Sunday, with nearly 87 percent of the votes tallied. Bass, the incumbent, garnered 34.68 percent of the vote, while Raman followed closely with 27.12 percent.
Spencer Pratt, who initially held a lead over Raman, received 26.69 percent. His early advantage has dwindled over the past week as mail-in ballots have been counted. Meanwhile, Bass had already solidified her place in the runoff by June 2.
Despite the current standings, Pratt has yet to concede. On Sunday, he suggested his campaign might hold out until July 6 to ensure every vote is counted. “Remember everyone…we are still in the lead, and we’ve got allllllll the way til July 6th to keep counting. They’re not the only ones who know where to find votes,” he stated, indicating his determination to continue the fight.
Spencer Pratt has not yet conceded the election and even said earlier on Sunday that his campaign may wait until July 6 to count all votes.
“Remember everyone…we are still in the lead, and we’ve got allllllll the way til July 6th to keep counting. They’re not the only ones who know where to find votes,” he said on Sunday.
“California elections often take several days to resolve, a function of the nation’s most populous state running a largely mail-in election in which properly postmarked ballots received up to seven days after Election Day can be counted,” noted CNN.
“Votes reported after election night in California tend to shift toward Democrats, as they typically include mail ballots that were cast closer to Election Day itself,” it added.
The Los Angeles mayoral race is non-partisan, but both Karen Bass and Nithya Raman are registered Democrats, while Pratt is a registered Republican.
In a significant development for Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho has made a return to the club following Florentino Perez’s re-election as president in Madrid.
Last month, the 63-year-old Mourinho agreed to a three-year contract to rejoin Real Madrid, contingent upon Perez securing another term as president. This condition was met on Sunday evening after a contentious campaign where Perez promised to bring back Mourinho as head coach. During the campaign, both presidential candidates pledged to attract star players to the team.
Upon his re-election victory, Perez expressed his enthusiasm for Mourinho’s return, stating, “We are proud to welcome back one of the best coaches in the world, a true Madridista.”
Perez, who has led the club for a total of 23 years over two periods—initially from 2000 to 2006 and then from 2009 onward—has consistently won the last five elections without opposition. He secured 65% of the vote, ensuring another five-year tenure at the helm of the club.
During the election campaign, Perez also committed to making a substantial bid of at least €150 million (£129 million) on Tuesday for an undisclosed “galactico,” in addition to signing three new players. Potential signings include Nico Paz, Jacobo Ramon, and Victor Munoz.
Mourinho, 63, signed a three-year deal last month to rejoin his former side, but the move was dependent on Perez’s renewal as president
Mourinho returns 13 years after his departure in 2013, when he won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup in his three years in charge, before his move back to Chelsea
He said last week: ‘I’m going to make an offer to a Champions League club soon, on Tuesday, which will be the biggest payment Real Madrid has ever made for a player, at least 150 million.
‘It’s not (Michael) Olise, he’s a great player, but it’s not him; it’s not (Jeremy) Doku, it’s not (Erling) Haaland, it’s not (Harry) Kane… But he plays at a level above midfield. And he’s not from the Premier League. He’s a total Galactico.’
Despite Perez publicly denying that Michael Olise is his target, The Telegraph have reported that the 24-year-old Bayern Munich winger is exactly who the president is prioritising.
His 37-year-old challenger, Enrique Riquelme, lost with 35 per cent after 33,555 members took to the polls. Madrid is owned by its 100,000 members, or ‘socios’. The results were held up after Riquelme challenged the validity of around 1,000 postal votes, of which over 400 were eventually struck off.
Riquelme, an energy millionaire from Alicante, had suggested during the two-week campaign the club was in a ‘serious financial crisis’ after overspending and accused Perez of plotting to privatise it.
He said he would attempt to convince Jurgen Klopp to come as coach, and that he would appoint Raul Gonzalez Blanco as his sporting director. He also said he was confident of signing Manchester City duo Haaland and Rodri.
Congratulating Perez on his victory in the early hours of Monday morning, the defeated Riquelme said: ‘For us, this is not the end. It is the beginning. The club members will not go another 20 years without voting.’
Perez’s reappointment now means that the formalities surrounding payment to Benfica of Mourinho’s €15m (£13m) release clause – a price which has nearly doubled due to the delay caused by the election – will now be completed, and the deal is expected to be wrapped up in the coming hours. Fulham manager Marco Silva will replace Mourinho at the Lisbon club.
Mourinho returns 13 years after his departure in 2013, when he won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup in his three years in charge, before his move back to Chelsea.
The Portuguese will lead a summer rebuild which has already seen Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries sign up and more expected to arrive in the coming weeks and months, with Dani Carvajal and David Alaba going the other way. Dani Ceballos is also set for the exit door.
Mourinho has undoubtedly been tasked with restoring order to a fractured dressing room following escalating tensions among the players that have intensified throughout the season. This reached its peak with the fight between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni last month.
Florentino Perez won Real Madrid’s presidential re-election, confirming Mourinho’s arrival
Valverde, 27, went to hospital with a head injury after the spat with 26-year-old France international Tchouameni, although he denied the pair ‘came to blows’. Both players attended an internal disciplinary meeting and accepted fines of £432,000 (€500,000) each.
Mourinho will also undoubtedly want to take a look at Madrid’s performance sector, specifically physical conditioning and medical services, as these two issues have plagued the team throughout the season (there were 58 injuries and 20 players sidelined last season) and were a source of friction between Xabi Alonso and the club.
West Wilson is addressing the buzz surrounding his recent trip to Italy with Amanda Batula, dispelling rumors that the getaway was an attempt to dodge the Summer House season 10 reunion.
“I saw all the chatter about our Italy trip being an escape, just because Amanda and I went for a wedding,” West, 31, humorously remarked on the Friday, June 5 episode of his “Show Me Something” podcast.
The Bravo personality assured listeners that the speculation arose before people realized the trip was for a family celebration.
“To the person who snapped our picture in the customs line at the Rome airport, I know exactly what you look like—a blonde woman,” West quipped. “It’s just us with our backpacks; it’s ridiculous.”
He further explained, “My cousin was getting married, so that’s why I went.”
Instagram gossip account DeuxMoi shared the photo of West and Amanda at the airport on May 26 along with a second message claiming that the couple were spotted at a restaurant in Rome.

West continued to address rumors about the trip on Friday after eagle-eyed fans appeared to clock that Amanda had taken out her credit card and paid for one of their meals in Italy.
“That’s f***ing crazy, they watched her use her credit card?” West said. “I handled the flights and the hotels, motherf***ers. How’s that sound?”
He added, “I grew up in a house where my family split the f***ing bills.”
West and Amanda’s Italy trip came as the Summer House season 10 reunion began airing on May 26. The pair found themselves in the hot seat for most of the reunion after details about their relationship were revealed.
Summer House stars West Wilson and Amanda Batula’s relationship is still going strong — even with the public backlash. “West and Amanda are still dating,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly, revealing that “the cast doesn’t think they’re going to last.” Despite their costars’ doubts about the romance, West, 31, and Amanda, 34, are moving […]
West and Amanda released a joint statement on March 31 confirming that they are dating. Amanda was previously married to fellow Summer House costar Kyle Cooke, while West dated her best friend Ciara Miller in 2023.
While they’re officially back in America, photos and videos from West and Amanda’s recent trip abroad have continued to go viral.

DeuxMoi posted another photo on Friday which showed West and Amanda dining in Sicily, Italy. One image showed Amanda seemingly spitting into West’s open mouth. He backed away shortly after.
Fans have had a lot of thoughts about West and Amanda’s romance, but actor Jerry O’Connell — a huge Bravo fan — shared a different take last month.
“I am about to get eviscerated,” he wrote in the comments section of the airport photo. “What if these kids make it? Also, kinda want to go to a watch party in LA, for reunion. Anyone have info? I will also go to someone’s house/apt and bring White Claws.”
Laura Adlington, known for her participation in the eighth series of “Great British Bake Off” in 2020, has openly addressed a wave of negativity directed at her online. The 36-year-old recently found herself targeted by a fat-shaming troll who inundated her with mean-spirited remarks.
In April, Laura shared the joyful news that she and her husband Matt are expecting their first child. With her due date approaching, Laura has maintained her role as a vocal advocate for self-love, frequently encouraging her social media followers to embrace their bodies with confidence and pride.
On Thursday, Laura took to her Instagram Stories to confront the negativity head-on, posting a screenshot of the unkind messages she received. The troll had written: “I’m calling it – due to weight issues, you will have interventions galore plus c-section.”
Despite the hurtful nature of these comments, Laura’s response underscores her commitment to promoting body positivity and standing up against online harassment. Her candid approach serves as a reminder of the importance of kindness and acceptance, both online and off.
They penned: ‘I’m calling it – due to weight issues, you will have interventions galore plus c-section
‘You don’t look nice in anything… try Ozempic after the baby is born – will change your life.

The star, 36, who starred on the eighth series of Great British Bake Off in 2020, announced in April that she is expecting her first child with husband Matt
On Thursday, she took to her Instagram Stories and shared a screenshot of hurtful messages from a troll.
‘Where is the baby?? It’s just a blubber…
‘Laure and you [husband] take up far TOO MUCH oxygen. Honestly, have you actually seen yourself? So unfair to put your baby at risk because of your super size. Any midwife/doctor would tell you the same. You are a risk. Fact.’
Calling out the troll for their comments, Laura wrote on top of the screenshot: ‘What a delightful human.’
It comes after Laura stripped down to her underwear in July as she shared a candid body positivity message.
Taking to her Instagram, Laura posed in black underwear in a mirror selfie with ‘Not a “before” photo…’ penned on top.
Opening up with her followers, she wrote: ‘Lately, my feed has been full of “before and after” photos – most of them starting with a body that looks like mine. Or smaller.
‘And I get it – people are allowed to change. To feel proud of themselves.
‘But I wish more people would think about how they speak about their “old” selves.

‘Because a lot of us still live in those bodies. Still *are* that body. And it hurts to be reminded, over and over, that your version of a nightmare body is ours.
‘The body positivity movement was supposed to make space for people in marginalised bodies, the bodies the world ignores or mocks.
‘But it feels like that space is shrinking again – and the loudest voices belong to the people who were never excluded to begin with.
‘I’m getting really tired of the fatphobia disguised as wellness.
‘Of the casual cruelty in “progress” captions. Of feeling like simply existing in my body is something I have to defend.
‘So no, this isn’t a transformation photo… It’s a reminder that this body, as it is right now, is enough. And so is yours.’
It comes after Laura left her followers in tears as she penned an emotional letter to her unborn baby last month.
The star reflected on reaching the halfway stage of her pregnancy after a nine-year fertility battle.

Laura confirmed in June that she is expecting a boy, after sharing the news they were expecting a baby after quietly ‘giving IVF a try.’
In the picture, Laura cradled her blossoming bump in a pretty white and blue summer dress while sharing her letter to her baby in the caption of her post.
She began her post: ‘Dear baby, We’re over halfway. Can you believe it?
‘Some days it still doesn’t feel quite real, and if I’m honest I still feel like I’m living in a dream. Like I don’t deserve this.
‘Ever since the day I found out about you, I’ve been waking up at around 4am. I lie there in the dark, imagining what it will feel like to finally hold you.
‘I wonder what kind of person you’ll grow into, what your laugh will sound like, what little quirks will make you, you.
‘It’s been a really long journey to get here, one filled with a lot of heartache. And although I’d be lying if I said we weren’t both still waiting for the rug to be pulled from under our feet, we are finally letting ourselves dream a little louder.
‘I’ve been busy making lists of all the things you might need. I can’t wait to get your pram and start putting your nursery together – tiny steps towards the day you come home.
She finished emotionally: ‘But more than anything, I just can’t wait to meet you. To hold you. To look into your eyes and finally whisper, “You’re here. We did it.”
Savannah Guthrie has taken to social media with a heartfelt message as the search for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains ongoing.
Over the weekend, the “Today” show co-host shared an evocative image on her Instagram Stories. The photo depicted a painting of Jesus Christ’s ascension, a powerful symbol of hope and faith.
Across the image, the words “Oh my, my soul, it cries out, soul, it cries out” were inscribed, capturing the emotional turmoil and longing she feels.
Savannah added her own touching note to the post, writing a hopeful plea to “bring her home” and accompanying it with a yellow heart emoji.
Interestingly, the color yellow has come to represent hope and perseverance ever since Nancy was reported missing from her Arizona residence on February 1st.
After the 81-year-old was abducted from her residence in the middle of the night, neighbors showed their support for the Guthrie family with yellow flowers and ribbons.
While Savannah took a hiatus from the NBC morning show to navigate the tragedy with siblings Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, she returned in April — and wore a yellow dress.
“It’s good to be home,” she told viewers at the time. “Well, ready or not, here we go! Let’s do the news.”
Her colleague Craig Melvin was seated at her side in a suit and yellow tie.
Savannah sported the same bright shade the following month to honor Nancy during the first broadcast after Mother’s Day.
“We will never stop looking for you,” she wrote via Instagram on the holiday. “We will never be at peace until we find you.”
Nancy’s disappearance hit the 100-day mark that week, with Page Six reporting officials have “scaled back” their search.
“The investigation is not a rescue investigation,” retired FBI agent Jason Pack explained last month. “At this point, they look at it as a recovery and investigating a crime.”
Savannah acknowledged as much in a February video to her mom’s kidnapper, saying, “She may already be gone. … And if this is what is to be, then we will accept it, but we need to know where she is.”
Her family has offered $1 million for information leading to Nancy’s return.
This year’s King’s Birthday Honours have spotlighted a diverse group of 949 Australians, highlighting their impressive contributions to society. Among those celebrated are influential figures such as Indigenous and community leaders, gender equality champions, and a martial arts instructor.
Mechelle Turvey, whose son Cassius Turvey, a Noongar Yamatji schoolboy, was tragically murdered, stands out as one of the honourees. Also acknowledged are Natasha Stott Despoja, a former senator renowned for her advocacy in gender equality, and Anne Pang, a Melbourne-based martial arts instructor who has made significant impacts in her field.
The announcement, made by Governor-General Sam Mostyn on Sunday night, emphasized that the honours serve to recognize Australians who have been nominated by their communities. Recommendations come from both the independent Council for the Order of Australia and various organizations responsible for acknowledging meritorious and conspicuous service.
“Our honours system is a testament to the outstanding people who contribute immensely to Australia,” Mostyn stated. “Whether in our communities, workplaces, or throughout the nation, these recipients have made exceptional contributions to our country.”
Reflecting on the legacy of the past 50 years, Mostyn added, “The service and achievements of those honoured in areas like public service, industry, academia, science, the arts, and sport are instrumental in shaping our nation.”

Of the 703 recognised in the Order of Australia (general division), five were appointed Companion of the Order (AC), 40 appointed Officer of the Order (AO), 183 appointed Member of the Order (AM) and 475 awarded Medal of the Order (OAM).
There were 471 male and 230 female recipients, and two people who used a different term.
Use the table below to search the full list.
The youngest recipient is 34-year-old Sarah Ward, who founded The Misfit Project, a charity organisation dedicated to youth empowerment through creativity and support.
The oldest living recipient was 106-year-old Florence Drury, recognised for community service in a range of roles.
There were also 34 recipients of awards in the military division of the Order of Australia (3 AO, 11 AM and 20 OAM), 149 meritorious awards and 63 conspicuous awards.
Turning grief into advocacy
For Senior Noongar Yamatji woman Mechelle Turvey, her OAM comes after years of transforming unimaginable loss into community leadership.
In October 2022, her son Cassius Turvey was assaulted while walking home from school. The 15-year-old tragically died from his injuries 10 days later.

His death sparked grief and outrage across Australia, with vigils and rallies held around the country in solidarity with his family.
But rather than retreat from public life, Turvey chose to advocate for victims of crime and their families.

Since 2023, she has helped train Western Australia Police Force recruits, drawing on her own experiences to help officers better understand how victims and families experience trauma.
She said building trust between Aboriginal communities and institutions remains one of her key goals.
“It is about getting out there with Aboriginal people, getting the police as well at the same table, to clear up misunderstandings and just to enhance that trust and get over those boundaries,” Turvey said.
Turvey said she dedicates this recognition to many others.
“I accept this award for those hardworking people out there that are working towards Aboriginal people and communities,” she said.
A lifetime advocating for women and girls
At just 26 years old, Natasha Stott Despoja became the youngest woman elected to the Australian parliament at the time and went on to build a career that focused on advancing the rights of women and girls.
After leaving parliament, Stott Despoja has since narrowed her focus on gender equality, human rights and the prevention of violence against women.
Becoming the founding chair of Our Watch in 2013, the national organisation was established to prevent violence against women and children. She later served as Australia’s Ambassador for Women and Girls, representing the nation in various international roles focused on women’s rights.

She currently serves on the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women and was recently appointed commissioner of South Australia’s Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence.
She has been appointed AC for her decades of work advocating for women and girls both in Australia and internationally.
Building bridges through self-defence
Melbourne martial arts instructor Anne Pang has spent more than three decades helping Australians build a sense of safety and self-belief.
After arriving in Australia as a migrant, Pang has since built a career in martial arts and become a leading advocate for women’s self-defence.

Recognised with an OAM for her service to Melbourne’s Chinese community, Pang says a key focus of hers is strengthening understanding between Chinese Australians and the wider community.
She said her own migration experience helped shape her commitment to community building, and believes understanding between communities benefits everyone.
“It makes the social cohesion so much easier, and it just makes our society so much more harmonious, and that’s what I think I am set out to do,” she said.
Supporting older Australians through culture and connection
Sydney educator and community leader Bijinder Dugal has been recognised with an OAM for helping older members within Australia’s Indian communities remain connected through culture and social support. Through music, dance, and art, she has worked to reduce social isolation, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic.
As co-founding director of AASHA Australia Foundation, Dugal’s volunteer-run organisation promotes physical and mental wellbeing while helping older Indian Australians maintain connections to culture and identity.

Dugal said she hopes her community will continue building on that legacy.
“To the younger generation, my message is simple: please carry forward the mission of Australia,” she said.
Celebrating the achievements of Greek women
Panagiotis ‘Peter’ Andrinopoulos has spent over three decades supporting Australia’s Greek community.
Helping preserve Greek Australian history and culture by working across community organisations, welfare services and cultural institutions, he has been recognised with an OAM for his service to Melbourne’s Greek community.
Among his most recent projects was a publication celebrating the achievements of women with Greek heritage, highlighting stories he believes have too often gone unrecognised.
“The genesis of the idea was to celebrate women. Often times women are marginalised, they’re left on the sidelines,” he said.

Andrinopoulos said so many women have made substantial contributions to community life without receiving the same recognition as men.
“They might be just as active as men, but it seems that men tend to get more attention for doing similar exploits,” he said.
The project sought to ensure the achievements of Greek Australian women are preserved for future generations.
Recognising decades of public service
Former New South Wales premier Morris Iemma is also among those appointed AO for his service to the people of NSW and his work in the not-for-profit sector and community sport.
Iemma served as the state’s 40th premier between 2005 and 2008 after representing the south-west Sydney electorate of Lakemba in parliament for more than a decade.
Morris Iemma was premier of NSW from 2005 to 2008.
During his political career he held several senior ministerial portfolios and played a prominent role in state politics.
Following his departure from parliament, he continued working in public affairs and government relations, including advising organisations in the property and infrastructure sectors.
Honouring the legacy of Katie Allen
Among those recognised this year is the late professor Katrina ‘Katie’ Allen, whose career spanned medicine, research and public service.
A respected paediatric allergist and researcher, Allen spent decades working to improve health outcomes for Australian children and families before entering federal politics.

She served as the Liberal member for Higgins between 2019 and 2022 and became a strong advocate for health and medical research.
Allen died in 2025 following a battle with cancer.
Her inclusion in this year’s honours list as an AO recognises a lifetime dedicated to public service, scientific research and improving the lives of Australians.
Reflecting modern Australia
While their contributions span different fields, communities and generations, this year’s recipients share a common commitment to helping others.
From supporting victims of crime and advancing women’s rights to preserving cultural heritage and strengthening community connections, reflecting the many ways Australians contribute to public life.

Rosie O’Donnell recently shared insights into her decision to undergo a facelift and her thoughts on any future cosmetic procedures. Speaking at the 2026 Tony Awards on June 7, the 64-year-old former talk show host revealed her current stance on further cosmetic work, stating to E! News, “No, I don’t think so.”
O’Donnell, who once opposed such procedures, chose to have a facelift after experiencing significant weight loss. This journey left her with excess facial skin, prompting her to reconsider her stance. “I’ve been on Mounjaro, a diabetes and weight loss medication, for the past three years,” she explained. “Having diabetes, I lost over 50 pounds, and as a result, I had quite a bit of extra skin around my face.”
She further elaborated on how this physical change affected her appearance, saying, “There were two lines that made me look perpetually sad. In Ireland, people would often ask, ‘Are you upset, darling? What’s the matter, love?’ and I would have to clarify, ‘That’s just my face. I’m not upset; it’s just how I look.’”
While some celebrities choose to keep their cosmetic surgeries under wraps, others, like Denise Richards and Jessi Ngatikaura of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, as well as Heidi Montag, are open about their experiences. Montag, for instance, who underwent a reversal of some enhancements in 2013, shared with Us Weekly the internal conflict she faced over her decision. This openness reflects a growing trend among public figures to candidly discuss their choices regarding plastic surgery.
While some prefer to fly under the radar when they get plastic surgery, celebrities including Denise Richards, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Jessi Ngatikaura and Heidi Montag keep it candid. After getting some of her enhancements reversed in 2013, Montag exclusively told Us Weekly that she struggled with the decision. Thank You! You have successfully subscribed. […]
The former View cohost first shared her transformation in a May 25 Substack post, admitting that she initially felt the procedure “was a betrayal. Of feminism. Of aging. Of our team of women worldwide.”
However, since going under the knife in January, O’Donnell said she wants to be open and honest about the work she’s had done.
“Authenticity is the goal in these days and times, and people are lying about everything all day to the American public. It’s very depressing to me and unsettling, and I think all that matters is truth and love,” she said. “And so, I wanted to be truthful and say all the complicated feelings I had about it.”
“I just felt it was better to be truthful than not, and I didn’t want some tabloid to go, ‘Gotcha!’” the comedian went on. “I just wanted to say, ‘Here’s what I did, here’s the doctor…’ and if you want to, it’s very expensive. It’s more expensive than any car I ever bought, but I can’t drive around in my face.”
Rosie O’Donnell surprised fans in May 2025 by revealing a positive update on her weight loss journey — which she credited to using the medication Mounjaro. The injectable drug (also known as tirzepatide) is similar to Ozempic and Wegovy in that it is used primarily to treat diabetes, but can also be effective in weight […]
In her May Substack post, O’Donnell addressed how her appearance changed after losing weight, writing, “It wasn’t wrinkles — it was gravity. I’d look in the mirror and think, ‘This isn’t aging, this is melting with intention.’ I tried to be evolved about it and say things like, ‘This is natural. This is earned.’ And then … ‘Umm, how earned does it have to look?’ There’s a point where acceptance starts to feel like lying.”
O’Donnell said she enlisted a doctor who had worked with some of her friends and is pleased with the results of her procedure.
“I wanted to still be me, just … less haunted. And I do look like me — a slightly more well-rested, emotionally stable version of me,” she wrote.
“I didn’t disappear, I didn’t become someone else — I just stopped arguing with the mirror,” O’Donnell added. “And maybe that’s enough. Or at the very least … it’s what a lower deep plane facelift looks like when it minds its own business.”
Alexis Bledel shot to fame almost instantly with the debut of “Gilmore Girls” in October 2000.
At that time, the actress was just 19 years old when she landed the key role of Rory Gilmore, a bright teenager, acting alongside Lauren Graham in the beloved mother-daughter series.
The show enjoyed a successful seven-season run, initially airing on the WB before moving to the CW, and concluded in 2007. Fans were delighted when the series made a comeback with a four-episode miniseries on Netflix in 2016.
The actress, now aged 44, was just 19 when she secured a starring role as precocious teen Rory Gilmore alongside Lauren Graham in the mother-daughter drama series.
The show ran for seven seasons, making the jump from the WB to the CW before ending in 2007 – and then returning for a four-episode miniseries on Netflix in 2016.
These days Bledel keeps a low profile, but on Saturday she attended the premiere of her new film Ponderosa at the 2026 Tribeca Festival in New York City.

Prior to being cast in the breakout role, most of her work had been in modeling.
But she quickly racked up movie credits, including one in 2002’s Tuck Everlasting and 2005’s The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
She dated Gilmore Girls co-star Milo Ventimiglia, who played her on-screen love interest Jess Mariano, from 2002-2006.
The actress went on to marry Mad Men co-star Vincent Kartheiser in 2014, they welcomed a son in 2015, and split in 2022.
After heading back to work on the Gilmore Girls Netflix revival, she also appeared in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, playing Emily Malek.
Her last public appearance before the Tribeca Film Festival was at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards last September.
At the time, she and Graham reunited on stage to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their hit show.

Ponderosa is Bledel’s first movie role since the crime thriller Crypto, which came out in 2019.
The 90-minute comedy/drama/horror film was written and directed by Rob Rice.
A logline on the Tribeca Film Festival site reads: ‘When the buffet where Zeke’s (Jack Dylan Grazer) mom (Bledel) works closes down, he’s forced to entertain the wild advances of a rich regular (Bill Camp) who is weirdly and vehemently obsessed with becoming his father.’
One of the film’s producers, Matt Porterfield, wrote on Instagram in late May, ‘It’s a surreal and intoxicating critique of right wing ideology and suggests some positive ways to sabotage it (much needed in these times).’
He continued, ‘It’s a story about a mother and son and the love they share. It’s about fatherhood and what that means in a sort of existential sense.
‘It’s also about adolescence and the power young people have to shape the future. It’s about a lot of things. It’s politically prescient but an all around good time and I promise it will get you thinking.’
In Tampa, Florida, the issue of flooding has increasingly plagued the Tampa Bay area, prompting planners to seek residents’ input to pinpoint problematic zones as they craft a comprehensive plan to mitigate future flood risks.
The initiative, known as the Tampa Bay Coastal Master Plan, involves a multi-county collaboration covering seven counties, from Citrus County down to Sarasota County. Its primary objective is to foster a unified regional approach aimed at effectively managing flood threats and preserving environmental resources.
“The Tampa Bay Coastal Master Plan is designed to deliver a cohesive regional strategy to diminish flood risks while safeguarding natural habitats,” explained Mandy Moore of the National Wildlife Federation.
Key focus areas of the plan include addressing the challenges posed by high-tide flooding, storm surges, and episodes of extreme rainfall. “The Coastal Master Plan will tackle issues such as minor storm surges, tidal flooding, and severe rain events,” Moore noted.
“But minor storm surge, high tide flooding, extreme rainfall events — those are the types of things that the Coastal Master Plan will address,” Moore said.
Community input is expected to play a major role in shaping the final plan. Residents are encouraged to complete an online survey detailing flooding they’ve experienced in neighborhoods, on roadways, or in other frequently visited locations.
Leaders say local observations can help identify flooding trouble spots that may not be captured through data alone.
Once survey responses are collected, planners will begin analyzing the information and working with engineers to identify potential solutions.
“And then we’ll do data analysis and start working with the engineers,” Moore said.
Officials say public participation could also strengthen the region’s ability to compete for state and federal funding for future flood mitigation projects.
The Tampa Bay Coastal Master Plan is expected to be completed in 2028. Residents have until June 10 to submit feedback through the online survey at
