Trump Criticizes Pope Leo’s Meeting with Chicago Mayor, Calls It ‘Unproductive

0

Former President Donald Trump took aim at Pope Leo XIV and Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson during their recent meeting in Rome, labeling Johnson “useless” and suggesting the Vatican should have avoided the encounter.

“Someone should explain to the Pope that the Mayor of Chicago is useless, and that Iran cannot have a Nuclear Weapon!” Trump declared on his Truth Social platform.

Trump’s post included screenshots from Johnson’s social media, depicting the mayor’s visit with the pope. The images from the Vatican show Johnson gifting Pope Leo a miniature Chicago flag and the two of them smiling with a Chicago Cubs hat, an ironic gesture since the pope is a known White Sox supporter. Notably, Pope Leo XIV is the first American pope and has roots in Chicago.

This interaction seems to have rekindled Trump’s ongoing feud with Pope Leo. Trump has previously criticized the pope for his stance on the Iran conflict and accused him of being “weak” on crime, particularly suggesting that the pope is indifferent to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Trump’s comments appear to have reignited his publicized feud with the pope. The president previously slammed Leo over his criticism of the Iran war and for being “weak” on crime, insisting the pope was okay with Iran having a nuclear weapon.

“I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela,” he wrote, adding, “I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected.”

Trump has also accused Leo of “endangering a lot of Catholics and a lot of people,” by allegedly condoning Iran’s development of nuclear weaponry.

The pope has previously responded to the president’s critiques, saying he is “not afraid of the Trump administration or of speaking out loudly about the message of the Gospel.”

Andy Dick Makes Rare Public Comeback: Signs Autographs Months After Overcoming Near-Fatal Overdose

Several months following a life-threatening overdose, Andy Dick was seen joyfully signing autographs for admirers in Los Angeles.

On Friday, the comedian was spotted at a booth during the Hollywood Show convention, engaging with fans and jotting down autographs for them.

The 60-year-old former “Newsradio” star chose a pinstriped jacket layered over a black T-shirt for the event.

Although representatives for the “Andy Dick Show” personality were unavailable to comment over the weekend when approached by Page Six, fans seemed delighted by his presence.

This public appearance marks over five months since Dick was discovered unconscious due to a suspected overdose in Los Angeles.

A pair of friends, Adam Carbone and Alexander Bailey, were filming with Dick in Hollywood on Dec. 9 when the comedian broke off and smoked crack cocaine with a random man on the street.

Footage obtained by TMZ at the time showed the “Road Trip” star slumped over on concrete steps, as bystanders attempted to revive him and to call for help.

The “Employee of the Month” star — who has a significant history of drug and alcohol issues — was revived after receiving four shots of Narcan, a drug that reverses the effects of opioid overdoses.

Following the terrifying incident, Dick told Page Six in January that he “legit died.”

“This is not funny, and I don’t remember this, but they say I came back to life, sat up, and the first thing outta my mouth was, ‘Where’s the vodka?’”

He went on, “I don’t remember. I was still out of it … just coming back from death and Narcan’d up. I was out of my mind.”

Dick ultimately checked himself into a rehab facility in Palm Springs, and less than two months later, checked himself out.

“[I’ve been to rehab] many, many, many, many, many times,” he told us in a phone interview after exiting rehab.

“This one feels different, I think, mostly because I actually legit died, and I can’t believe I came back to life,”

In March, he revisited the near-death incident during a podcast interview, joking, “There were no bright lights. I wish [there were], I’d go back.”

“They did a CAT scan thing, or whatever they call it in your brain, and I have all these – there’s about five to seven holes,” he told Howie Mandel during an episode of “Howie Mandel Does Stuff.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, these brain lesions can occur as a result of a number of conditions, including stress and traumatic brain injuries.

However, Dick’s rep told us that the apparent “holes” are from a previous incident.

“The issue with his brain is from the 2019 attack that almost killed Andy when an unprovoked attacker cold-cocked Andy while he was outside of the club he and Paris Dylan had just performed,” the rep explained in a statement, noting that they “are assured that his brain will heal.”

He also said that while the troubled comedian “has been battling his addictions for years,” he is “healthy, sober and doing great.”

Urgent Manhunt: $10K Reward for Suspect in Deadly Virginia Deputy Ambush

0

A large-scale, coordinated search effort is taking place in Virginia for a suspect considered “armed and extremely dangerous,” who is said to have ambushed two deputies during a welfare check on Friday night. This attack resulted in the death of a military veteran and left another officer injured.

Logan Utt, a 31-year-old deputy from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, tragically lost his life in the incident, as confirmed by Carroll County Sheriff Kevin Kemp.

The U.S. Marshals Service has announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect, Michael Puckett.

The deadly encounter unfolded just before 9:30 p.m. local time, when the two Carroll County deputies were dispatched to a home after a family member requested a welfare check.

When the deputies met with Puckett, he allegedly opened fire, killing Utt and wounding the second officer — whose life was saved by his ballistic vest, according to authorities.

The deputies returned fire, but Puckett fled the scene and remains at large.

The sheriff’s office warned the public not to approach him and call 911 immediately if he is spotted.

Utt joined the force in 2023 after serving the nation as a military veteran.

“Becoming a deputy sheriff was a lifelong dream, and he worked every day to make Carroll County a safer place,” Kemp wrote in a statement Saturday. “Today, Carroll County has lost a hero, and a family has suffered an unimaginable loss.”

Utt leaves behind a wife and children. The wounded deputy is recovering in stable condition.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger confirmed her office is closely monitoring the situation, urging anyone with information on Puckett’s whereabouts to come forward.

“Deputy Logan Utt’s sacrifice is a testament to his bravery and dedication to his community,” Spanberger wrote in a statement on X. “Adam and I are praying for Deputy Utt’s family, the injured officer during his recovery, and for the safety of all of our courageous men and women in law enforcement.”

New England Residents Stunned by Meteor Fireball: Double Boom Shakes Homes!

0

A meteor burst into the skies above New England on Saturday afternoon, generating a dazzling daytime fireball and a powerful “double boom” that reverberated through nearby residences.

The American Meteor Society noted that the celestial object pierced the atmosphere around 2:30 p.m. and subsequently broke apart over the ocean, just off the coast of eastern Massachusetts.

One Boston resident expressed, “I have never encountered such a deafening explosion.”

Another individual shared, “My sister called from Lexington… she heard the boom and then the windows shook,” highlighting that the impact was strong enough to jolt a newly constructed house.

Specialists have indicated that the fireball created by this meteor was exceptionally large.

“It was definitely bigger than a normal fireball, about a yard wide,” said Robert Lunsford of the Fireball Program Monitor at the American Meteor Society.

He added that it was unlikely the meteor hit the ground.

“We would need more information about the trajectory, the speed and other aspects to know for sure if it hit the ground, but if it didn’t burn up, then it would have landed in the ocean,” he continued.

“Most of them do burn up before they hit the ground.”

Several people filed reports with the U.S. Geological Survey registered the shaking with the National Earthquake Information Center, according to an agency spokesperson.

No geological event was recorded on the agency’s seismographs, meaning the shaking was not due to an earthquake.

The phenomenon was observed from Delaware to Montreal.

Morgan Wallen’s Live Show Takes a Twist as Technical Glitch Leads to Piano Mishap

Country music sensation Morgan Wallen faced evident frustration during a recent performance due to technical issues.

At his concert on Friday, May 29, held at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado, the 33-year-old artist was seen overturning his on-stage piano after seemingly struggling to hear the instrument, according to social media clips shared on X and Instagram. The incident was also covered by both TMZ and Billboard.

Despite the technical glitches, Wallen persevered, delivering an a cappella rendition of his popular track “Sand In My Boots,” proceeding with the show despite the apparent malfunction with his ear piece.

Us Weekly attempted to contact Wallen’s representatives for a statement but received no response by the time of publishing.

Morgan Wallen s Ups and Downs Through the Years- Saturday Night Live Drama N-Word Scandal and More 263

Known as the bad boy of country music, Morgan Wallen has navigated a career colored by various controversies. The “Whiskey Glasses” singer initially gained recognition on the sixth season of The Voice in 2014, where he was part of Adam Levine’s team but was eliminated during the playoffs. The “Whiskey Glasses” singer, who got his start in 2014 on season 6 of The Voice, is no stranger to controversy. In May 2020, he was arrested outside Kid Rock’s Nashville bar, Big Honky Tonk, for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was later cleared of the charges.

“I went out downtown last night with a few old friends,” he said via X, then known as Twitter. “We didn’t mean any harm, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone that was affected.”

He made headlines again when he was caught partying without a face mask — kissing multiple women in the process — at college bars in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, amid the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

His reported partying ultimately cost him a gig on Saturday Night Live.

“I’m in New York City, in a hotel room. I was getting ready for SNL this Saturday, and I got a call from the show letting me know that I will no longer be able to play. And that’s because of COVID protocols, which I understand,” Wallen said at the time. “I’m not positive for COVID, but my actions this past weekend were pretty short-sighted and that have obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams. I respect the show’s decision because I know that I put them in jeopardy. I take ownership for this.”

Morgan Wallen Gets Sued by Fan for Canceled Mississippi Concert Security Apologizes After False Claims He Was Drunk 303

Morgan Wallen is being sued by a fan after he canceled a concert in Mississippi at the last minute. A class action lawsuit was filed by concertgoer Brandi Burcham on Tuesday, April 25, after Wallen, 29, pulled out of the performance two days prior. Burcham stated in court documents that the venue promised refunds, however, […]

(Wallen later made his official SNL debut on December 5, 2020.)

Later, in 2021, Wallen sparked controversy again when TMZ published a video of the singer using the N-word in February amid rising racial tensions in the country after the murder of George Floyd.

“I’m embarrassed and sorry,” the singer said in a statement at the time. “There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”

Spencer Pratt Takes a Page from Trump with Controversial Story on Campaign Trail

0

Spencer Pratt once again found himself being likened to Donald Trump, as he emulated the former president’s penchant for recounting tales of anonymous admirers expressing gratitude for his efforts.

During an appearance on Fox News with host Kayleigh McEnany, the Los Angeles mayoral candidate was asked about the influence of his faith on his campaign journey.

At 42, Pratt credited his return to religion to his wife, ex-reality TV star Heidi Montag, stating that this spiritual revival led supporters to commend him for attempting to ‘rescue’ Los Angeles.

This narrative sparked parallels with Trump’s tendency to share stories of supporters who supposedly thanked him for his achievements.

Pratt mentioned that his faith played a pivotal role in soothing his anxiety before a crucial debate with incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and City Councilmember Nithya Raman, whom he described as ‘two deceptive adversaries.’

‘I’ve never done a debate, and I’ve never argued with two lying demons live on TV,’ Pratt said, before adding, ‘In a political setting.’

‘Technically maybe in my past reality TV career we could say that happened before,’ he continued.

‘But, I just said, “God, if you want this for me, please, just have me destroy them live on TV.” And I walked I off that stage and this young high school kid came right up to me, and he said, “Thank you, sir, for being the only one that told the truth up there on the stage.”‘

Pratt’s remark drew comparisons to Trump, with outlet Mediaite accusing him of ‘taking a page out of Trump’s playbook’ to praise his own campaigning.

In polls following Pratt’s debate earlier this month against Bass and Raman, viewers overwhelmingly said he came out on top.

In a poll from NBC of viewers, 79 percent said they believed Pratt won the debate.

Pratt did not name the fan who thanked him, but he said he believed his debate performance was a sign from God that he was meant to win the mayoral race.

‘For me, when I set out on this mission, it was just to hit the truth at the highest platform I could,’ he told Fox News.

‘That’s all I ever thought I was going to be able to do. Obviously, I know what needs to be done, but if it was only to expose the lies and corruption of our beautiful city, I would have been fine.

‘But that was God’s plan. But it seems like God has me going all the way in five days if everyone just turns in their ballots right now and votes.’

It comes as Pratt enters the final stretch of the campaign, with voters set to head to the ballot box on June 2. If no candidate receives 50 percent of the votes, the top two candidates will go to a run-off election in November.

In the home stretch of the mayoral race, Pratt has taken to using his past as a reality TV star to callout his opponents for destroying California’s crown economic jewel – Hollywood.

Pratt, 42, went on a lengthy X rant on Friday, calling out his opponents, incumbent Karen Bass and Nithya Raman, for destroying the city’s entertainment industry.

‘Nithya did NOTHING as Hollywood fell into the abyss over the last few years, and now she wants you to believe she suddenly cares? She thinks you’re dumb,’ he wrote.

‘Karen and Nithya treat productions like a nuisance, and they’ve killed our golden goose.’

Pratt would have first-hand knowledge of the production landscape in Los Angeles as he spent years on the reality show, The Hills, which largely filmed in the City of Angels between 2006 and 2010.

The husband of Heidi Montag promised he would ‘pull out ALL the stops to eliminate every lame reason that makes filming in LA a pain in the neck.’

His proposal includes making permitting and parking approvals ‘cheap’ and ‘easy,’ increasing LAPD patrols in hotspots to protect the crew, and removing addicts and the homeless from the area.

‘We need to win back these productions, and tax credits aren’t enough to do it,’ he wrote. ‘They just need filming to be easier and safer in LA. They need LA to be nicer, and less disgusting.’

Trump to Lead Independence Day Celebration Personally Following Artist Withdrawals

0

IN BRIEF

  • The concerts were planned as the opening ceremony of the Great American State Fair.
  • Trump said he has ordered aides to assess “the feasibility of doing an AMERICA IS BACK Rally”.

President Donald Trump has suggested he might take the stage at a Washington rally, asserting he could draw crowds even bigger than those of Elvis Presley. This comes after several performers withdrew from events commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary.

The artists were initially announced as part of a concert series linked to the July 4th celebrations. However, they pulled out shortly after, with some attributing their decision to the event’s increasing political associations.

The concerts were set to commence on June 25, forming a central feature of a significant exhibition on the National Mall. This event is organized by Freedom 250, a public-private partnership backed by Trump.

President Trump addressed the situation on Truth Social, saying, “I understand Artists are getting ‘the yips’ about performing,” following the departure of the fourth and fifth acts from the lineup of nine initially announced.

Trump further commented, “I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime … and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists.’”

Trump said he was ordering aides to assess “the feasibility of doing an AMERICA IS BACK Rally on Wednesday” on the mall, where he would deliver a speech “rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!”

The Republican leader did not specify which Wednesday he was eyeing, nor did he describe which events his rally was meant to supersede.

The statement came a day after multiple artists including country singer Martina McBride and glam rocker Bret Michaels, frontman of 1980s band Poison, said they were dropping out of the White House-backed concert series.

“Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of,” Michaels posted on social media.

Trump has openly tried to stamp his mark on the celebrations, most notably by staging an ultra-violent mixed martial arts fight in a specially constructed arena on the White House lawn on 14 June — his 80th birthday.

In a country that regularly produces many of the world’s biggest global stars, the remaining line-up of artists whose prime came and went decades ago — such as Vanilla Ice and C+C Music Factory — has sparked a flood of sarcastic comments on social media.

What is the Great American State Fair?

The concerts were planned as the opening ceremony of the Great American State Fair, a 16-day event running from 25 June to 10 July.

The Freedom 250 group said the fair would stretch on the National Mall from the US Capitol to the Washington Monument, with concert stages, state pavilions, exhibits, rides, and other attractions.

Organisers have not publicly detailed the reasons for the musicians’ departures, though the exits have raised questions about the viability of the event as originally envisioned.

Danielle Alvarez, an adviser to Freedom 250, told the Washington Post that “Trump will personally kick off this historic celebration on Wednesday, June 24 in an opening ceremony celebrating America’s 250th birthday”.

A hulking metal arena is also rising on the White House’s South Lawn as Trump pursues a spate of construction projects, and is set to host a night of cage fighting to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence.

Tragic Virginia Crash: Non-English Speaking NYC Bus Driver Faces Charges After Fatal Accident

0

The charter bus driver from Staten Island, involved in the tragic accident on I-95 in Virginia, has been formally charged following a devastating crash that claimed five lives. The incident occurred on Friday, leaving a family en route to a wedding among the victims.

Virginia State Police have charged 48-year-old Jing S. Dong with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Authorities suggest more charges could follow as the investigation progresses. Meanwhile, there is uncertainty regarding Dong’s current custody status or whether he has legal representation.

Further compounding the situation, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy highlighted that Dong does not speak English. This revelation has prompted the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to initiate an investigation into Dong’s language proficiency, raising questions about communication barriers in the transport sector.

As federal investigators delve deeper, they have disclosed that the E&P Travel Inc. motorcoach was traveling at a considerable speed with little to no braking before it collided with a work-zone traffic backup near Quantico. This detail paints a grim picture of the chaotic moments leading up to the crash.

The development comes as federal investigators reveal the E&P Travel Inc. motorcoach was moving at a high rate of speed with little to no braking before slamming into a work-zone traffic backup near Quantico.

“It seems fairly clear that if there was any braking there wasn’t much, because of the speed and severity of the collision,” said Tom Chapman, an NTSB board member.

The victims have been identified as Priscilla Mafalda, 25, and a Massachusetts family of four — Dimitri and Ecaterina Doncev and their two children, Emily and Mark — who were traveling to a family wedding.

The bus was traveling from New York to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Discover the Hidden Dubai: Luxurious Experiences at Half the Price Without the Crowds

0

In recent times, Dubai has established itself as the quintessential luxury getaway for British travelers seeking sun-soaked retreats.

Every year, approximately 1.3 million visitors from the UK journey to this vibrant city, drawn by its opulent five-star accommodations, lively beach clubs, and the promise of perpetual warm weather, which is a welcome change for those in need of sunshine and a vitamin D boost.

Last year, I was among the 19.5 million tourists who ventured to the bustling metropolis of the United Arab Emirates, navigating its crowded beaches and soaring prices, all in pursuit of a luxurious experience.

However, the recent conflict in the Middle East has prompted the Foreign Office (FCDO) to advise against all but essential travel to the UAE. This advisory has led to a notable decline in passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport.

As a result, many British travelers are now on the hunt for alternatives to Dubai. They seek destinations that offer the same allure of luxury, towering skyscrapers, and expansive sand dunes, but without the geopolitical tensions currently overshadowing the region.

And I think I may have found it, just three hours from London: El Jadida, the Moroccan UNESCO World Heritage site known for its unique mix of Renaissance military architecture and Moroccan culture.

It’s not just the sunshine that Dubai and Morocco have in common – although El Jadida does get 300 days of sun a year.

Similarly to Dubai, in El Jadida, past meets present. Within metres of each other, a mosque, a synagogue, and a Catholic church showcase the North African country’s rich, diverse culture and history inside the citadel walls.

And I’m staying just 15 minutes away at Atlantis Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort – where rooms are about half the price of its famous sister hotel Atlantis The Palm in Dubai.

When I visited Dubai last year, the beaches felt packed. Attractions, such as water parks, thronged, and moments designed to feel lavish and special felt increasingly stressful – not the ideal vibe for your well-earned holiday.

But, while Mazagan has all the opulence of Dubai’s famous resort, it has none of the crowds – even though I’m told ‘occupancy is at 100 per cent’, when I check in.

After being chauffeured to my room, I step onto the balcony and hear Atlantic waves crashing against the shore.

No traffic. No construction. Just endless open space.

Spread across 250 acres, Mazagan opened in 2009 and boasts 500 rooms and suites built at a cost of more than £275 million. Yet thanks to its seven kilometres of coastline, it somehow still feels almost private.

Every morning, I swing open the balcony doors just to hear the ocean roar again.

It’s no wonder celebs have become fans. Paloma Faith was a recent guest, and Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Campbell attended the opening.

I opt to quad bike over the dunes up the coast and, yet again, only see a handful of people.

Similarly, when I get on horseback (after my mum tells me ‘don’t fall off and break your neck’), it’s heavenly trotting along on my white horse, Caesar, as the sun disappears into the horizon with no one else around.

Where is everyone?

Like Dubai, this Morocco resort delivers grandeur extremely well.

There are 15 restaurants and bars here. I highly recommend dinner at seafood restaurant Sel de Mer. Head chef Farès Berriah has been there since day one, and his 17-year tenure speaks for itself.

It’s the jewel in the crown as he now heads up all the à la carte menus across the resort – and it’s easy to see why. His fresh shellfish cream soup (better known as crème de crustacés façon) has my tastebuds exploding, keen for a second helping.

With breakfast included and a whopping 10 stations to choose from, Mazagan also offers more inclusive options such as half-board or all-Inclusive packages, making daily food budgets easier to predict.

Inspired by the glamour of 1942 film Casablanca, aptly named ‘Studio 42’, their signature bar channels the elegance and allure of the 1940s – and as an Irish man, I naturally sample a cocktail or two.

For the night owls, Mazagan is home to North Africa’s largest 24-hour casino, offering 36 live tables including roulette, blackjack and ultimate Texas hold ’em. I don’t attempt to have a flutter this time after losing some modest dollars in Vegas last year.

There are also two pools – the kids’ pool has a slide adults can use too!

Golf enthusiasts are covered too – with the resort’s 18-hole course designed by Gary Player, the legendary South African golfer and three-time Masters champion.

There’s even a recently renovated spa and gym where I have an aromatherapy massage.

After nodding off, I’m awoken to a unique and breathtaking blue ocean and sky view.

Palm trees frame giant riad pools. Peacocks wander around the grounds. Families spread out across enormous spaces without fighting for loungers or breakfast tables.
